....i did not spray them.

So you basically just washed the exterior shell of the connector. Get some contact cleaner on the pins and sockets; it might help.

....do u know how far the wires go in to the tranny and if i can get to them

There are many solenoids and sensors throughout the transmission. The only way to access all of the parts and pieces is with the transmission on the bench.

The codes you reported point to several different problem areas.

P0502 - Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Circuit Low Input

The VSS sensor is located on top of the RH drive axle extention. Easy enough to check for a loose or dirty connector. And the sensor is not an expensive part.

P0719 - Brake Switch Circuit Low Input

This might indicate a brake pedal switch that is not operating properly or is not installed/adjusted properly. Does your cruise control work as expected?

P0741 - TCC System Stuck Off

Cleaning the pins and sockets in the transmission connector might fix this code. No guarantees on that one.

My speedometer went out last week and I replaced the vss. Everything worked fine for a couple of days until I left the car running for about 10 minutes while I ran into the store. When I pulled off the Speedo went up to about 25 mph then it just dropped off. Then the car stopped pulling so I pulled over and stopped and it went back into gear. Ok while I was trying to make it home I noticed that if I press down on the gas the Speedo would work fine. Take my foot off the gas and it would drop again. I pulled that bad out and replaced it with another new one and it drove fine again, no problems at all until I did the same exact thing again by leaving the car running to cool the inside off and now it's back jumping all over the place. Does anyone have a clue what's wrong.

Re: Speed Sensor problems Please Help!!

Definitely pull and post your codes. Shooting in the dark, it does sound like two different things going on...A malfunctioning cluster (bad cluster, loose wiring, sensor, etc) and the car not pulling or feeling like it went out of gear. The latter can be something as simple as a loose shifter/cable or you bumped it with your leg or a transmission slip which would set codes. A bad speed sensor or wiring would also set codes.

The codes I have are..
P0410 current
P0503 history
P0741 current
I checked these with the car off. Then I started it and pulled off and when the Speedo went out I pulled over and checked again and the P0503 code was current

This is how it's doing

Pt 2

Codes are meaningless without their definitions.

Though off the top of my head the p0410 is an A.I.R. system issue and the p0741 is a TCC issue. Neither pertain to your problem.

The VSS is located on top of the right hand transmission output shaft housing; about a foot in front of where a passenger's toes would point.

bishop,

Please decipher and post your found codes, then bookmark this link; you'll need it as long as you own an OBD-II Cadillac.

Scroll down and study the text - the hundreds of possible codes are below the text in system order.

Did you ever figure out your issue? Mines doing the same thing and I'm having a real hard time figuring it out. But mine isn't throwing any codes at all

Is it hard to replace a speed sensor?

Fortunately, it is easy to replace a wheel speed sensor and takes you about an hour at maximum. You can also remove the ABS wheel speed sensors separately keeping other parts integrated into the wheel bearing hub assembly.
