2022 subaru outback rain sensing wipers

Not to bring this conversation back up, but my wipers when set on Auto via the stalk and the center computer confirming that they are turned ON, still won't work in the rain even when it's pouring out. I have to turn the dial to the medium speed or high speed manually to get the wipers to work continuously. Also, when it's in the AUTO setting mode, I can get the wipers to move once, every time I adjust the sensitivity ring. So the question is, IS it me or the car having issues?

Hi, some questions:

• Do you have a Touring?
• Have you had your windshield replaced?
• Can you see the rain sensor through the windshield? (see my pic below)

The top sensor (top green circle) is your rain sensor.

Yes, it's a 2019 Touring model. We bought it used with 23k miles on it. Not sure if windshield was replaced. Yes there are sensors and the windshield has the SUBARU markings on it near the VIN number. Thanks.

Do you notice condensation or fogginess when it rains? If the seal has been broken around the sensor (or not properly replaced during a windshield replacement), it fogs up and doesn't work.

If you've checked for condensation or fogging during the heavy rain when it happens, then I'd record the issue and bring it in.

Robert, took the vehicle to the dealership for a few fixes under warranty. They discovered the windshield had been replaced with a Subaru windshield and never was calibrated. I posed your questions that you asked me too the service manager and with a little digging, he found some details.

Just realized I have an issue with wipers in auto. When I switch to auto they just keep going on intermittently depending how I set sensitivity control. My windshield was replaced by dealer some time ago so when I go again for oil change I'll have to bring that up.

Subaru already surgically implanted a chip in his arm. If you look closely in his videos you can see the Pleiades star cluster shaped implant.

I am not sure if all glass repair shops record the windshield serial number along with all the parts and supplies used on every installation the way that Novus does. You could try and contact the local dealer and or SOA to determine if the windshield had been replaced and if so by whom. Presumably the wiper system is under warranty.

Thanks for your information,has been great help for me. I've been having this issue on a 18' outback. Did the adaptation procedure with a scanner and is now working succesfully. Seems like you have to do this procedure to get ir working fine in the auto mode.

Please note that the MY18 Outback is a completely different platform than the current generation where there may be some components shared with the Ascent. You may want to post at our Outback Forum sister site for information more accurate for the vehicle you have.
