Jeep

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is the first time in Grand Cherokee’s history that a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) variant will be offered. Of course, going electric comes with a lot of benefits and options, making this the standout feature. It's important to note that Jeep as a company has a goal of Zero Emission Freedom, and this endeavor takes the company one significant step toward that goal.

On top of that, the 4xe technology offers a lot of benefits, such as superior fuel economy and performance while being eco-friendly. Another new piece of technology is the class-leading 4x4 Selec-Terrain traction management system, allowing the driver to choose between five different terrain modes depending on what terrain the vehicle encounters. The five modes are Auto, Mud/Sand, Snow, Sport, and Rock.

The PHEV system can tow up to 6,000 lbs, and its engine puts out 375 HP and 470 lb-ft of torque. Further, with this system, the vehicle offers 56 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe), as well as 25 miles of all-electric range. The hybrid powertrain can be specially tailored for various off-roading trips, work commutes, or long-distance drives with three modes: Hybrid, Electric, and eSave.

The 30th Anniversary Grand Cherokee Is Leading From A Legacy

Jeep

When a vehicle has been around as long as the Jeep Cherokee has, it's come a long way from where it started and has built up quite the legacy. Since its debut in 1993, there have been five generations of Jeep Grand Cherokee, each helping to build a legacy and establish the vehicle's place in automotive history.

The first ever model arrived at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 7, 1992, marking new standards for SUV comfort and handling, with its optional 5.2-L V8 engine. The second generation arrived in 1999, complete with a substantial redesign where only 127 parts were retained from the previous generation.

This model had more conveniently-located controls and a larger cabin, as well as larger doors and new methods of transferring torque. The third generation hit the sales floor in 2005, and it was another extensive redesign. This time, the emphasis was on making the ride comfortable and quieter, and the 5.7-L HEMI V8 engine could put out 330 HP.

A year later, the 2006 model had a 6.1-LHEMI V8 engine with 420 HP and 420 lb.-ft. of torque. The fourth generation showed up in 2011 after the Grand Cherokee had already done four million in sales. Off-road capability and on-road refinement were blended, and the result was better fuel economy, a more luxurious interior, a more aesthetically appealing exterior, and many safety and technology features to assist drivers.

The fifth and current generation debuted in 2021, starting with the Grand Cherokee L. This model was made for increased capability, functionality, and space, complete with an expanded wheelbase for more interior room and legroom.
