• Apple's Clear Case with MagSafe has protected my iPhone 13 Pro Max from several drops.
• The case has only suffered a minor fracture on the corner, but the iPhone is unscathed.
• Better yet, the case hasn't started to turn yellow in the seven months I've been using it so far. 

Clear cases are an ideal option if you want to keep your color choice for your iPhone visible while adding protection. 

As such, I've been using Apple's iPhone 13 Clear Case with MagSafe ($49) with my iPhone 13 Pro Max review unit since they were released back in September 2021, and I can safely say that it's an excellent case that comes highly recommended. 

Apple's Clear Case for iPhone is a smooth, hard plastic shell with softer flexible material over the volume and power buttons.

Apple's MagSafe magnets are on the back, which means the case works seamlessly with MagSafe chargers and accessories. 

The hard plastic means it's not as easy to grip as silicone cases, or those with added grips, like Speck's Presidio Perfect-Clear with Grips case. Some prefer grippier cases for extra peace of mind. However, I like smoother minimalist cases that are easier to take in and out of pockets, showing as much of the naked iPhone as possible. Still, despite its smoothness, the Clear Case offers more grip than the iPhone alone.

However, the Clear Case's smooth plastic can escape some pants' pockets.

I've had no issue with the iPhone dropping out of pockets when sitting down, except when wearing my home's mandated uniform of loose sweatpants. No doubt, the iPhone I've been using with Apple's Clear Case has fallen out of my sweatpants pocket a few times, mostly from a typical chair's height, while I sit on the floor to play with my daughter, and even when I get into my car. 

I wouldn't say that the Clear Case made the iPhone any slippier than it is without a case, but it also doesn't help keep the phone in your pockets, either. 

Apple's Clear Case has protected my iPhone from several moderate drops.

After several drops from about waist-height (about three feet), the iPhone 13 Pro Max I've been using is totally damage-free. The Clear Case has a slight sign of damage on the bottom left corner, but the iPhone is still secure and the fracture is barely visible. 

It's unclear if the Clear Case would protect the iPhone from higher drops, as I haven't tried it. But the Clear Case's medium-thickness build has undoubtedly been protective in normal, everyday use, and I'm certain that this iPhone would be in worse shape without it. 

And the best part, there's been no sign of yellowing so far.

One of the major concerns with clear cases that is widely shared is whether the case turns yellow over time. I'm happy to report that over the last seven months of daily use, Apple's Clear Case with MagSafe hasn't shown any signs of turning yellow. 

However, while the Clear Case doesn't yellow and keeps your iPhone design visible, the interior can get a little visibly grimy over time. Luckily, that's easily remedied with a little water and a paper towel scrub every so often. 

All in all, I'd highly recommend Apple's Clear Case with MagSafe for iPhone, whether you have the iPhone 13 series or the iPhone 12 series.
