Q: How long is the wait in line?
A: This depends on the type of ticket you purchase. Online tickets are timed, and require a much shorter wait.

Q: How long does it take to go through?
A: It's really difficult to give an answer to this question- some groups run right through, while others take their time. It really depends on how well you can handle the fear! The Slaughterhouse is the largest and longest indoor haunted attraction in Des Moines! It’s safe to say it’s pretty big, so you should be in there long enough to get plenty scared!

Q: Is The Slaughterhouse handicap accessible?
A: Yes. We do our best to be handicap accessible inside the attraction! We provide by-passes for all guests that cannot go through specific parts of the haunted house. Please make sure that you check in with an Event Staff employee and they will help you through the house.

Q: Do you have a lot of strobe lights in the haunted house?
A: Yes. We have many strobe lights and fog throughout the entire haunted house. It is not recommended for people that have Epilepsy go through the haunted house. We also don't recommend people with asthma, heart issues and pregnant women go through the haunted house. You can always ask your physician to see if you should go through, however, we just don't want you to get hurt.

A: Yes. We work closely with the Des Moines Police department as well as our own armed guards onsite each evening.

A: We do not have lockers or a coat check at the haunted house. Very small purses and/or bags are allowed in, other bags should be left at home. You will not be permitted to enter with backpacks, satchels, etc. This rule is for your safety and ours.

A: There are many life-like creatures in the haunted house.

WHO SHOULD/SHOULDN’T ATTEND

Q: Is there an age limit for The Slaughterhouse?
A: No. However, due to the graphic nature, it is not recommended for small children, toddlers or babies. We have had young children go through and have a great time and adults who go through and are in tears! You're the parent - you be the judge. A good rule of thumb is: if you wouldn't bring your child to a PG-13 rated horror movie, it's probably not a good idea to bring them to a haunted house.

Q: Can pregnant women go through the haunted house?
A: We suggest contacting your OBGYN and/or personal physician to discuss this kind of activity with them.

Q: If I have asthma, can I go through the haunted house?
A: We suggest contacting your physician to discuss this kind of activity with them. We have numerous fog machines throughout the haunted house. If your doctor thinks you’ll be fine, we definitely recommend bringing your inhaler or another device that may help you breathe better.

Q: If I have [x] medical condition, can I go through the haunted house?
A: We suggest contacting your physician to discuss this kind of activity with them as they have a deeper, professional knowledge of your personal medical condition(s). We have fog machines, strobing lights, tight spaces, darkness, bright lights, noxious odors, loud noises, etc. Your experience is going to be intense. While we want everyone to have a good scare, we also want you to be safe.

Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: Sorry, it's just too darn scary for our furry friends at the Slaughterhouse.

Q: How are you handling the COVID-19 pandemic, what do I need to know?

A: Please come prepared to interact within close proximity to other people who may or may not have been tested, may or may not be sick and/or people that may or may not have been exposed. Who has the scariest haunted house?

What the majority of the population would consider a torture chamber rather than a haunted house, McKamey Manor is by far the scariest "haunted house" there is. It began in San Diego, and now has locations in Alabama and Tennessee, and not one person has made it through without asking for it to be over.
