 Show 4.0 out of 5 stars I love it! Black and Decker waffle makerI purchase this waffle maker because it makes two waffles at a time. (And no I have never made a waffle before in my life so this is all new to me, the pictures I show are experimenting how much batter I needed to use.) I read other review about other waffle makers and they all seem to have more complaints and I found it hard to choose one with a style that I liked, then I read the reviews on this one so I thought that I would give it a try because the reviews “I believe where operator error and not machine error”.So I received my Black and Decker waffle maker. And I love it!First of all, all of you waffle making complaining folks out there need to read the instructions!(I recommend just out of the box that you oil it, plug it in, but Don’t make any waffle in the first heating of the waffle maker, you are putting oil on it and seasoning the iron.)There are many complaints about waffle machines “Smoking”. Well of course the machine is going to smoke, the directions call for you to first wipe down the waffle maker with oil on a paper towel. So you get the oil in all the areas, you will do this once. But doing this will give you dark golden brown crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside, and that is what we love so that is how we do it! Then you plug it in and when the light goes from red to green your ready to put the batter in. (They note in the instruction that the RED to GREEN light is NOT telling you your waffle is ready but that the temperature is ready for you to start, Black and Decker needs to work on a product that will BEEP when the waffle is ready but for now its just the temperature setting)I found 2/3 of a cup to be good, and yes this part does require a little learning curve because of the consistency of your batter. Start with pouring your batter in a circle from the outside in. You then have to “Lock it” and turn it over but only AFTER you wait for the count of TEN seconds. Then open the other side and pour your batter in and “Lock it” count to TEN seconds AGAIN and turn it back over.For this waffle maker Yes the Con is, there is no BEEP telling you when they are done (Please work on that Black and Decker) so I use the timer on my stove, for us it only cooks 3 minutes. But you need to account for the 10 seconds and flipping so I think that it is cooking for a longer period of time. But since you flipped it and fill the other side and flipped it back AFTER the 10 seconds then the one on top is the first one in and the first one out.If you are refilling the waffle maker before your light is green yes you will have under cooked waffles.But you know what they say….practice makes perfect, so all my practices goes in our tummies and the others go into our freezer for quick breakfasts during the week!I love this one so much I will buy another for my RV!Thanks Jorja Reviews with imagesTop reviews from the United StatesThere was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2022 You can't set the timer or temperature, but it DOESN'T matter. You get crispy waffles just like the hotels' ones. Just cook them for 4 minutes first after you put the batter and follow the 10 sec instructions before rotation (READ THE INSTRUCTIONS) and see if you like them. Adjust the time you let your waffles cook depending on how you want them. For me it is 4 min each set of two waffles. Price is unbeatable for such perfect results. And the double waffle is just a plus, specially helpful for big families. Also, I found out that the must inexpensive Waffle Mix works just perfect! No need to add eggs, or oil or anything. I am buying the Great Value Belgian waffle mix. I am very grateful I found this machine. Never thought I would within my limited price range. I know many people say they don't write reviews... well that is me... hope you believe me and hope you find this helpful. Give it a try but don't forget to read the very simple instructions. I like it because it's convenient to make 2 waffles at a time, however, the Non-stick of this waffle maker is not good as the Presto Flipside that I have. The waffles stuck every time when they were done, I have to use the knife or fork to pry them out. I didn't depend on the light for doneness, but watched for the steam instead. I recently moved and my belongings are all in a storage unit while I live in an apt. I wanted waffles and so I purchased the same one I have. Black and Decker is the BEST. When I finally move into a house, and unpack my stuff, I will give my original waffle maker to the local shelter. THE WAFFLES ARE THE BEST. 2 large fluffy waffles. great each time I make them. comparing to it. This iron seems less powerful, it takes twice as long to cook, but cooks twice as many waffles(though slightly smaller). I was hoping it would cook two waffles faster, our kids are hungry and there can be fights over who is next!
