If they were able to be deleted they would have us pay for them as an option. Engines are designed to run a a certain temperature. This allows the components to reach a proper dimension and function properly? No thermostat means unregulated temp which could be hard on gas and hardware depending where and how you run your machine. Get a Hayden temp controller that some of the guys talk about on here. Better then nothing at all.

On a hot day with no thermostat the water will circulate faster than the radiator can cool the water. And limp mode sucks and blown motors even more.

x2 .....

Don't run it without the thermostat, it's there to keep the engine at a certain temp and to slow the coolant as it passes through the radiator.

Now if they offered a lower rated thermostat, that would be perfect!

Hayden is the ONLY way to go. You need the T-Stat

Merziere makes an inline t stat housing that you can use different temp t stats in.

Check out my thread on the TCP mudder radiator. Very happy with it so far. I don't think taking out the thermostat completely is benificial to the motor. Good luck!

sorry guys your info is incorrect.

Any engine designed and tuned properly at stoich will run at its "normal operating temperature". Using the fan to regulate the temperature. A thermostat does not open and close. It opens at a given temperature and stays open until it cools down below that temperature,(engine off). We (OMC) have tested more then a dozen outty 1000, commander, renes, 800s, Mavericks t-stat, and they all open around 205 degs. This is safe for the motor, bad for heat sink. One of the main reasons can ams run so warm. A thermostat in the manufacture's mind serves two purposes: Help warm the engine up quicker to prevent engine damage, and to improve cold start emissions. We ride primarily in 90 deg + heat, it doesn't take long for our bikes to warm up, however we do not recommend the tstat delete for colder climates. I have never talked to a GNCC racer, or Pit racer that runs one. Nor, have we had one single complaint from over 100 kits sold. I am not saying anyone's opinions are wrong, just saying none of what has been said has been proven to us in testing. More importantly our kit deletes the bypass also, which if left in place will allow some of the "cooled' coolant to never make it ways to th engine. And yes our kit is "two 90s". Also for what its worth my commander makes 185 hp at the tire, I run distilled water, no tstat and stock radiator (behind another stock radiator for my intercooler) and stock fan, fan kicks on at 180 and off at 160. Sorry for the long winded response good luck with your issues.

thanks for the info, I have ordered the Y and the delete kit. have struggled with overheating since I purchased this machine. I have already installed the TCP mudder rad, and with the addition of this kit I am hoping my overheating issues are over for good!!

I'm from the Houston area. I'm in the process of trying to get my cooling system right again. Thinking it just had a bunch of air in the system. Going try and take it out again to see how its going to act now that i think i got the air out and got the fluids topped off. I was wondering if I did do the t-stat delete, what steps are needed to take when I do go ride when it gets colder? Just let it warm up longer before I take off riding?

it is smart to always let something warm up to operating temp before romping on it. 5 min is always a good rule of thumb.

thinking of going with the outsiders thrmo/bypass delete and add this in place of the original thermo, I see this takes 1.25 hose, is that what we have on these machines? anyone tried one of these, going to go with a 180 thermostat in this, opinions? I just don't think totally deleting the thermo is a good idea, I've been wrong before tho. lol

And I can't say I am with his theory.....thermostats definitely help regulate the amount of coolant that passes through the radiator, therefore allows it to cool before it makes it out. Where as a open hole and no tstat is gonna flow was faster. Never giving coolant proper amount of time to cool. Told my buddy this, he put the kit on his commander, it idled at 4-5 bars, and would only cool down once he drove it. Put stock setup back in. And perfect again.
