A new set of best friends hits the ‘ponyverse’ and Netflix this coming September 24. eOne’s new animated adventure, My Little Pony: A New Generation, gallops onto Netflix this coming September 24, with a “Mane 5” voice cast featuring Vanessa Hudgens (SUNNY), Kimiko Glenn (IZZY), James Marsden (HITCH), Sofia Carson (PIPP), and Liza Koshy (ZIPP). Additional voice cast members include Ken Jeong (SPROUT), Elizabeth Perkins (PHYLLIS), Jane Krakowski (QUEEN HAVEN), Phil LaMarr (ALPHABITTLE), and Michael McKean (ARGYLE). In the film, the unimaginable has happened... Equestria has lost its magic! Earth Ponies, Unicorns, and Pegasi are no longer friends and now live separated by species. But idealistic Earth Pony Sunny (Hudgens) is determined to find a way to bring enchantment and unity back to their world. Teaming up with open-hearted Unicorn Izzy (Glenn), the pair travel to faraway lands where they encounter the likes of charismatic and brave Pegasi Pipp (Carson) and Zipp (Koshy) and the ever-responsible fellow Earth Pony Hitch (Marsden). Their mission is full of misadventures, but these new best friends each possess their own unique and special gifts that may be just what this ponyverse needs to restore magic and prove that even little ponies can make a big difference. It doesn’t seem that My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has been gone for that long, but the MLP brand is being rebooted again with My Little Pony: A New Generation. For the record, the basics of Friendship is Magic was more recently used as the foundation for MLP: Pony Life which was just released in 2020. advertisement But Hasbro announced in February of this year, that a fifth generation of MLP was coming and would have the label “A New Generation.” This new generation will feature all-new characters and in addition to a toy line, there is an animated movie coming. Originally created by Paramount Pictures for a theatrical release, this film will now instead debut on Netflix in September to be followed by an ongoing series. (The film will still get a theatrical release in China.) Now the stellar voice cast has been announced. Vanessa Hudgens, best known for the original High School Musical movies, will voice the main character, Sunny Starscout, “an adventurous Earth pony who likes roller skating and wants ponies to get along.” Kimiko Glenn (Orange is the New Black) voices Izzy Moonbow, “an energetic unicorn who loves crafting.” James Marsden (The Stand) provides the voice of Hitch Trailblazer, “an Earth pony who is a caring sheriff at Maretime Bay.” Pipp Petals will be voiced by Sofia Carson (the Descendants franchise). Pipp is described as “a Pegasus princess from Zephyr Heights who is a talented pop star that loves to entertain other ponies.” Pipp’s sister is Zipp Storm, voiced by Liza Koshy, is “a rebellious Pegasus princess from Zephyr Heights that likes athletics and science.” Additional adult characters will be voiced by Elizabeth Perkins as Phyllis, Jane Krakowski as Queen Haven, Ken Jeong as Sprout, Phil LaMarr as Alphabittle, and Michael McKean as Argyle.
