England's batsmen have hogged the limelight, but today it was the bowlers' turn, not least Mark Wood, whose solitary wicket may have sealed the win

Following are the statistical highlights of the group B Champions Trophy match between England and New Zealand.

  • New Zealand have recorded their 35th win over England in 70 ODIs. (Lost 29, NR 4 & Tied 2).
  • England's 146 is their second lowest score in the ICC Champions Trophy - their all-time lowest being 125 against India at Jaipur on October 15, 2006.
  • Stuart Broad's figures of four for 39 are his second best in ODIs - his best being 5 for 23 against South Africa at Nottingham on August 26, 2008.
  • Martin Guptill's 53 off 55 balls is his first fifty against England - his fifth overall.
  • Guptill has an outstanding batting average in ODIs - 47.15 - 613 in 16 innings, including one hundred and five fifties.
  • Brendon McCullum (48) has posted his highest innings in the ICC Champions Trophy, bettering the 47 against Australia at The Oval on September 16, 2004.
  • McCullum has posted his third successive score of 40-plus in the 2009-10 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy - 44 against South Africa at Centurion; 46 against Sri Lanka at Johannesburg and 48 against England at Johannesburg.
  • Grant Elliot (4/31) has registered his career-best bowling performance in ODIs, eclipsing the 3 for 14 against Scotland at Aberdeen on July 3, 2008.
  • Shane Bond (3/21) has produced his best bowling performance in 14 innings.
  • Bond's aforesaid performance is his second best in the ICC Champions Trophy, next only to the 4 for 21 against Bangladesh at Colombo SSC on September 23,2002.
  • Ravi Bopara (30) has recorded his highest score in eight innings.
  • Andrew Strauss' first duck against New Zealand is his seventh in ODIs.
  • Andrew has recorded his first duck in the ICC Champions Trophy - his third in 30 innings as captain in ODIs.
  • Paul Collingwood has performed reasonably well for England in the ICC Champions Trophy, 2009-10, posting 46 against Sri Lanka; 82 against South Africa and 40 against New Zealand.
  • Collingwood has produced an exceptional batting record in the ICC Champions Trophy, aggregating 369 at an average of 52.71, including two fifties, in ten matches.
  • Collingwood's aggregate of 168 (ave.56.00) in three games in the 2009-10 ICC Champions Trophy is exceeded only by Graeme Smith - 206 (ave.68.66) in three innings.
  • Collingwood's overall ODI average is 35.13 but he is quite famous for producing top-class performances in important tournaments e.g. World Cup (45.88), ICC Champions Trophy (52.71), Tri series in Australia (47.71) and Tournament Finals (82.50).
