Fatal accident on i-20 today 2023 texas

On Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at approximately 11:36 p.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to a single vehicle crash in the 2500 block of I-20.

Witnesses told officers a 2019 GMC Yukon that was traveling eastbound in the far left lane suddenly veered right, crossed all of the highway lanes, struck the guardrail, and crashed into a concrete bridge pillar.

The driver of the Yukon, a 29-year-old female, was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was the only occupant of the vehicle.

It’s unclear why she suddenly veered out of her lane. The investigation is ongoing.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once the next of kin have been notified.

On Sunday, June 26, 2022, at approximately 9:49 a.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to the intersection of S. Collins Street and E. Arbrook Boulevard to investigate a two-vehicle collision.

According to witnesses, the driver of a 2007 BMW Model 328i was traveling eastbound along E. Arbrook Blvd at a high rate of speed, ran a red light, and struck a 2008 Ford Focus that was legally passing through the intersection while northbound on S. Collins St. The impact of the crash caused the Focus to roll on its side.

The driver of the Focus, a 22-year-old male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the BMW, 23-year-old Bryan Lizarzaburo Penafiel, was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Based on their investigation, officers believe Mr. Lizarzaburo Penafiel was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Once he is cleared by medical staff, he will be booked into the Arlington City Jail on one count of Intoxication Manslaughter.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.

Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers along with deputies from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and EMS responded to multiple vehicle crashes involving a number of cars on Tuesday afternoon.

HCSO Chief Deputy Brandon “BJ” Fletcher said the crash site stretched from the 607 mile marker of eastbound Interstate 20 to the 614 mile marker.

To avoid the crash site, motorists were asked to exit at 604 or 599. Fletcher reported the interstate open to traffic at at 9:14 p.m. Tuesday. No fatalities were reported.

HARRISON COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – An East Texas passenger was ejected from a car during a two-vehicle crash on Monday and was severely injured.

The wreck happened in Harrison County and deputies and the Texas Department of Public Safety were called the the incident on I-20 in thewestbound lane. A car crashed into another vehicle that was towing a loaded car hauler, said the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office.

A helicopter had to land in the middle of I-20 to take the person who was injured to the hospital. A part of I-20 was closed for some time while officials responded to the crash.
