Streaming services offer a convenient alternative to cable and satellite packages, and there are now options that even include live sports. ESPN+ is one of the leading sports streaming services, and its subscription plan has plenty to offer for fans of baseball, hockey, UFC, tennis, and more.

To help you decide whether ESPN+ is right for your needs, we broke down all of the service's main features and plans, including pricing and details on all the sports you can stream.

What is ESPN+?

ESPN+ is a streaming subscription service that focuses on sports. Members can watch live games and exclusive on-demand videos, as well as access content from what was formerly known as ESPN Insider.

Though ESPN+ has its own lineup of live sports, on-demand shows, and exclusive programs, the service does not include access to the regular ESPN cable channel.

How much does ESPN+ cost?

An ESPN+ subscription costs $10 a month or $100 annually. There's also a combo package that bundles ESPN+ with Hulu and Disney Plus for $14 a month — an $11 savings each month compared to getting all three services separately.

If you're looking for a gift that's perfect for any sports fan, you can also purchase an annual ESPN+ gift subscription for $100. Gift subscriptions can only be redeemed by new members.

How do I sign up for ESPN+?

Head over to the ESPN+ website and create an account, or open your existing ESPN account and you'll be prompted to sign up.

What's included with ESPN+?

ESPN+ includes a ton of video content, from live games to on-demand shows and exclusive stories. Unfortunately, the live games come with commercials — just like regular TV.

Subscribers can watch live games from the MLB, NHL, and MLS when their seasons are active. There's also PGA golf, UFC, college football, international soccer, and tennis. On the downside, there are no live NBA games and ESPN+ will only stream a handful of NFL games during the 2022 season.

In addition to games, ESPN+ features original shows, including in-depth game recaps and analyses hosted by Peyton Manning, and a shorter version of "NFL Primetime." Documentary programs, like "30 for 30," as well as full replays of historic NFL games are also available to stream on-demand.

Does ESPN+ offer UFC PPV and UFC Fight Night events?

ESPN+ offers exclusive UFC pay-per-view (PPV) matches. The PPV events cost $75 for existing subscribers. ESPN+ also offers a special discounted bundle for new members that includes a one-year membership and one PPV event for $124.98.

In addition to PPV matches, ESPN+ also features access to UFC Fight Night events. Fight Nights are typically included as part of a regular ESPN+ subscription for $10 a month.

Does ESPN+ stream NFL games?

ESPN+ will stream select NFL games for the first time during the 2022 season. Here's a full rundown of NFL games that will be available to livestream on ESPN+:

  • September 12: Denver Broncos at Seattle Seahawks
  • September 19: Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles
  • September 26: Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants
  • December 19: Los Angeles Rams at Green Bay Packers
  • October 30: Denver Broncos at Jacksonville Jaguars
  • January 2, 2023: Buffalo Bills at Cincinnati Bengals
  • January 7, 2023: Two unannounced games
  • January 16, 2023: Wild card playoff game based on seeding

What's not included with ESPN+?

ESPN+ is separate from the ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNews cable networks, so a subscription will not grant you access to live broadcasts of those channels.

One of the cool things about ESPN+ is that you can access it through the regular ESPN app.

Instead of launching a separate app, all the ESPN+ content is unlocked in the ESPN app once you subscribe. The app is available on virtually every platform you can imagine — phones, tablets, laptops, Roku players, Fire TV products, Apple TV, Android TV, Chromecast, PS4, Xbox One, and Samsung smart TVs.

You can also stream on up to three devices simultaneously with one account.
