How much are airpods at best buy

We're rounding up the best AirPods deals available across the entire Apple headphone range, helping you to choose the right pair and get the best price.

The cheapest Apple AirPods price right now is on the 2nd generation AirPods at just £129 (opens in new tab) (with the charging case), which is a decent deal unlikely to be beaten before Black Friday in November.

What about the rest of the range? It's the excellent AirPods Max that now sit at the top of Apple's headphone tree. A pair of over-ear, noise-cancelling, wireless headphones, that come with a hefty price tag – and they sold out in record time. Thankfully, there is now some stock available, and right now you can make a decent £50 saving (opens in new tab) on most finishes.

When it comes to true wireless earbuds, the flagship buds are the brand new and five-star AirPods Pro 2, which feature impressive active noise-cancelling and wonderfully dynamic, powerful and detailed sound quality over the original AirPods Pro – which are now available at a discount (opens in new tab). You also get Personalised Spatial Audio support with dynamic head tracking, new Adaptive Transparency and extra ear tips for a snug fit with the 2nd generation Pro model - but no deals just yet.

The cheaper AirPods 3 have evolved over the older AirPods 2's design, now featuring short stems and support for spatial audio just like its Pro alternatives. There's not much of a saving right on these right now, but combined with the charging case you can snap them up for £179 (opens in new tab).

If you're an iPhone user, the AirPods might just be the best wireless earbuds for you. They connect seamlessly, bring Siri to life in your ears, offer excellent hands-free calls from your iPhone and give you greater immersion with music and films thanks to spatial audio support.

Apple AirPods 2nd-generation

Apple might have launched the AirPods 3, but the AirPods 2 (2019) remain a great pair of hassle-free true wireless earbuds. They offer a great combination of performance, reliability and convenience. Walk into an Apple Store and you'll see two options: the AirPods with a Charging Case, and the model with the Wireless Charging Case. 

Should you buy the Wireless Charging Case? It really depends on your budget. You can buy the Wireless Charging Case separately, but you'll get a better deal if you buy one bundled with a pair of AirPods 2. Just place your AirPods in the case and lay it on a Qi-certified wireless charging pad (sold separately). An LED indicator on the front of the case lets you know that your AirPods are charging. (If you're away from your charging pad, you can still use the Lightning port to charge the case.)

Sadly, Apple cancelled the launch of its 'AirPower' charging pad so you'll need to buy one from a third party brand, such as Belkin or Morphie. You can always check out Apple's pick of the Qi-certified wireless charging pads (opens in new tab). It's also worth nothing that the Wireless Charging Pad works with both the 1st-generation and Apple AirPods 2.

Apple AirPods Pro

The new Pro 2 model is better, but Apple's original top 'buds are still a good option. Their noise-cancelling tech features a 'Transparency' mode that actively allows sound in from the outside world, while the supplied silicone tips (you get three sizes) should ensure a better fit. Battery life is a claimed five hours for the earphones, with another 19 hours added by the charging case. 

They might be chunkier and costlier than the standard Apple AirPods (2019), but if you're an iOS user, the Pros is one of the best wireless in-ear headphones that you might ever need.

Apple AirPods 3

Apple's latest AirPods advance closer to the Pro model, with a smart redesign and full support for Spatial Audio thanks to their head-tracking capabilities. Battery life is stronger than their AirPods 2 (30 hours vs 24 hours) while sound is balanced, clear and detailed.

The AirPods 3 might lack active noise-cancelling (you'll need to splash out on the AirPods Pro) but they're a great all-round package with plenty to offer Apple device owners.

AirPods Pro 2 (2022)

Apple's new 2nd-gen Pro earbuds earned the first five-star review for the brand's in-ear models. Thanks to a new powerful H2 chip, the noise-cancelling is improved two-fold, sound quality is now on par with the class leaders, and there are plenty of additional user-friendly features. 

Battery life is now six hours in the earbuds, with 24 extra hours with the charging case, which now has a built-in speaker to emit tones. A fourth XS ear tip increases better fit for all ear sizes, and a new "Adaptive" Transparency Mode damps down loud and sudden harsh noises to great effect. 

AirPods Max

In 2021, Apple finally delivered its first over-ear, noise-cancelling, wireless headphones: the AirPods Max. They're big, heavy, expensive... and very good indeed. Build quality is as premium as its price, and sound quality is truly impressive.
