How to change battery in 2022 honda crv key fob

Our car key’s battery is one of the things we don’t really worry about until it stops working—and it can be pretty annoying when that does happen!

Luckily, it’s a pretty straightforward fix. Do the following steps on your Honda CRV’s key:

• Press and slide the metal key release button, then slide the key out
• Open the key fob using a flathead screwdriver or the key itself
• To keep the contents and external buttons from falling out, press your thumb down just above the battery
• Remove the old battery, taking note of the positive and negative sides. Be careful not to touch the battery terminals as the oil on your skin could lead to corrosion
• Replace the battery in the same position. Use the key fob’s positive (+) and negative (-) indications as the reference
• Align the key fob’s two halves and gently press until they pop back together.

After changing the battery, you should have a fully functional car key again! If you’re still having problems, consider bringing your vehicle to a Honda dealership to see if they can resolve the issue.
