How to transfer money from prepaid card to bank account reddit

If you get any prepaid debit cards as a gift (prepaid visa, MasterCard, etc) you can enter its information in to an app such as Venmo or cash app and send the balance of the card to a friend. Simply have your friend send the money back and you will be able to transfer the money to your bank account.

Most of these apps are free so it is a nice way to combine small value cards for big purchases or get the last few dollars off an old card!

Ps. If your thinking of giving someone a prepaid debit card as a gift consider just giving them cash. Most people are more appreciative of the flexibility, it avoids activation fees, and they are not as limited as to where it can be used

OP, I had your exact problem with a Visa gift card last Christmas!

I signed up with Serve, and added the gift card as a debit card to my account. I then took all of the funds and added them to my Serve account. Then, I withdrew them from the Serve account to my checking account. Or you can keep the money on Serve, and they'll send you an American Express card that's linked to your balance.

Thanks a bunch! Smooth process?

If it's a visa giftcard you could gift the money to your paypal and then transfer from your paypal to your bank account.

As easy as that? Or are there some more steps?

Some states have a law that requires the company to give you the cash value of your card if it is below a certain amount, like in California I think it is $10. So use your gift card to buy many gift cards in smaller cash value and then cash them in.

Purchase a gift card from Amazon using the gift card and send it to yourself, then save it Amazon as credit for a future purchase.

level 2

This is what I do. For any frequent customer, Amazon credit is as good as cash.

Sign up for Paypal Here or Square. They send you a free credit card reader which you can use to swipe the giftcard into your bank account.

level 2

You will have to pay the 2.75% fee for Square, 2.7% for Paypal Here.

The answer to your question hit frontpage of r/all

Two PayPal accounts, send money to friends and family option, then send back, PayPal money transfer to bank. You will incur a 1-3% fee for the first send, but the send back will be free. I do this all the time, I think technically it's a TOS, but I've never been flagged and I've been doing it over a decade.

Edit: basically the same as the venmo to a friend

How to transfer money from prepaid card to bank account reddit

So long story short the government decided to cut my unemployment off until they can identify my identity -which is 12 weeks from now- and I am in dire need for money as I am overdrafting. I have almost 500 dollars in those stupid prepaid Visa cards and was wondering if there is a way to turn them into either cash or put them into my checking account. I've heard some people say use Venmo or PayPal, and some people say buy a product and then return it for cash. Any ideas? I could use the help pretty badly lol.

I make my money by driving for Uber. I rent a car to do this.

I am in arrears by two weeks and need to pay the rental company to unlock my Uber driver account.

I have the money to pay my account up to current with the rental car company, but they won’t take cash, nor will they take payment from a prepaid debit card. The money I have is on this prepaid debit card.

How can I xfer this money from the prepaid debit card to my own personal checking account, so that I can pay the car rental company using my usual payment method, which is my personal debit card attached to a checking account?

This is maddening. As each hour goes by of them being unable to take my money, my Uber driver account is locked and I can’t earn. I have the money; just not in a form they will accept.

Things I’ve tried so far:

Send myself the $$ by venmo; not permitted Fund my paypal account, then instant xfer it to my bank account; can’t fund my paypal using the debit card.

One detail: my bank account is not local so I cannot easily deposit cash.

Thanks in advance for any ideas
