The Honda Odyssey's idle-stop feature maximizes your fuel efficiency when your vehicle is idling. If you're stationary for more than two seconds, such as in stop-and-go traffic, the engine will shut off; many of the vehicle's functions, such as the A/C, will continue to power on smoothly. Merely release the brake to start up the engine again! This feature can be easily disabled.
What’s the Benefit?
To further enhance fuel efficiency36, all Odyssey trims feature an idle-stop system.
The Feature:
- When the vehicle brakes to a stop for at least two seconds—such as at a traffic light—the engine automatically shuts off to save fuel.
- When the driver releases the brake pedal, the engine starts back up by itself.
Important Note: In certain traffic conditions, the idle-stop function may not be desirable. So the driver has the opportunity to easily switch off the system with a button located to the left of the transmission shift buttons. After turning off and restarting the vehicle, the idle-stop system will turn back on.
