Basically I stopped by my house to grab a few things before I was headed out, so I just left my windows down, but then my plans got cancelled and I forgot that I left my car out. It ended up raining very hard pretty much all night. Everything still works but the whole inside was soaked and there was about 1/2" water under the seats. I dried most of it up with towels and blasted heat for 30-45 mins. Should I be worried about any damage like mold, mildew, or problems with the electronics? I am also worried about the seats being ruined because they absorbed a lot of water and are nearly impossible to dry all the way out. Has anyone else on here left their top/windows down during the rain and have any tips for how to dry the interior out? 04-19-2013, 04:20 AMRegistered User

On a non serious note, what do you think would happen if you left your bedroom window open and it rained? Things get wet! Gasp! The shock! What happens when things get wet? Mold! Stench! The shock! The gasp! What happens when electrics get wet? Things stop working and need to be dried out, the shock! What happens when you knock your head? Some sense might get put in it. So first thing, knock your head on something then report back... 04-19-2013, 11:58 PMMember Thread Starter

If you have nothing helpful to say, why don't you hit the back button and post elsewhere instead of writing this useless junk? I was just posting to see if anyone had any tips to dry out the interior so I wouldn't get any mold or nasty smells, not looking for your smartass answer. 04-20-2013, 09:21 AM

Open windows (but they're already open so you can skip this step)

Just make sure to use a shamwow to get the majority of the water out first. Ur not the first person on here that this has happened to goodluckRegistered User

It'll dry it in a little while (30 minutes) and no worries about musky smell or mold. 05-02-2013, 10:09 PMMember Thread Starter

It's been a couple weeks now and everything seems fine no smell or mold Thanks everyone for the tips. How do you dry out a car left in the rain?Place a portable dehumidifier in the vehicle and roll the windows up. If you have a portable dehumidifier handy put it in your vehicle's back seat or trunk (if you have an SUV) with the doors closed and windows rolled up. Doing this will pull and residual moisture out of the vehicle's fabrics.
What to do if inside of car gets wet?Keep the car's doors open and leave the fans running for at least a day inside your garage. This should thoroughly dry out any remaining moisture. If you can, station a dehumidifier in your garage while the fans are running to take as much wetness out of the air as possible.
Is it bad if rain gets in your car? While raining, the rainwater enters into critical parts of the car. In this situation, the electrical parts of the car get affected. If water enters through the engine inlet air tubing the engine will be permanently damaged so that makes the car as unstartable or sluggish.
Is it OK to leave car windows open?Leave windows (slightly) open
Leaving your windows slightly open allows air to circulate through the car – particularly as the hot air inside rises. However, if your car is parked outdoors, we don't advise leaving more than a couple of centimetres gap between the top of the window and the door frame.
