Noel Gallagher took over the famed Capitol Records studio in Los Angeles Thursday night to play a packed house five songs off his upcoming High Flying Birds album “Who Built the Moon?” out Nov. 24.

But of course questions during the Q&A quickly turned to Oasis and the band’s 25th Anniversary of their first album “Definitely Maybe” which is coming up in two years.

Why is that number significant? It means they can be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Gallagher explained he’s already been contacted by the organization and told them straight up “it’s not gonna happen.” Normally, of course, bands get together to both perform and accept the award but he told the audience he would not attend if they got inducted. On whether he thought Oasis deserved to be honoured: “Well, I certainly think I do.”

Yes the Gallagher brothers continue to take jabs at each other every chance they get. With Liam posting these two tweets after hearing some of Noel’s new record.

In response to the tweets Noel proclaimed total “indifference.” As to whether he had heard Liam’s new material due out next week. He said he’d heard the single. And repeated his go-to line of total “indifference.”

During the hilarious discussion with media, fans and record execs, Noel was also asked about President Donald Trump. He told the audience he had to be careful what he said, because he already has a tough time getting into the country. He added that Trump was an “interesting individual” and “unique.”

Out of the five songs we heard, one of the songs is sure to create a lot of buzz – the opener to the “Who Built The Moon?” album, “Fort Knox” – a moody, kind of psychedelic trip in which Noel doesn’t even really sing.

He explained it was actually influenced by Kanye West’s “Fade”. Noel had run into the studio saying how much he loved it after hearing it for the first time. In fact Noel actually wanted to send “Fort Knox” for Kanye to use as his own. But once it was done Noel said he realized, “It was just too fu***** good” so he kept it for himself.

Sooner or later, a BritPop band will find a representative in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  While there have been some very important groups that debuted before Oasis the odds are strong that this is the band that will go in first.

Drawing multiple comparisons to the Beatles, Oasis was the leading band in terms of BritPop success.  What will work in their favor, as that they were able to conquer American charts as well as the British ones, and as much as that should not be the deciding factor, the reality is that a non-American act has to conquer the U.S. market to get into the Hall.  It also does not hurt that the brothers Gallagher were critical darlings everywhere and there are now many acts that site them as an influence.

The band’s 1994 debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’ turns 25 in 2019, which would make the group eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

When asked about the possibility, Gallagher told Rolling Stone: “I’ve already been approached by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame… The fuckin’ fella from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame came to me and said, ‘Do you know in two years you’ll be eligible for the Hall of Fame?’ I said, ‘Is that right?’ He said, ‘Yes.'”

Noel added: “And he started going on, and I said, ‘Let me fucking stop you there. I know what it is. I know what it entails, and it won’t be fucking happening, OK?'”

“He invited me down to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame itself and showed me all these exhibits of Oasis stuff. It’s a great place and all that, but I won’t be doing it, I don’t think.”

Asked whether Oasis deserve to be inducted, Noel answered: “I certainly think I do… There could be a little miniature of me somewhere – a tiny little thing with a wobbly head.”

“I find it fascinating that people find the relationship between me and Liam fascinating,” Gallagher went on to saw. “It would only be fascinating if we were a songwriting partnership and had to make this thing work.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Noel explained why he can’t write “sad” like Thom Yorke.

What made Oasis so famous?

Few other bands have ever been able to achieve the same hands-in-the-air anthems that Oasis were so famed for. They became a soundtrack to our lives, and the ability they had to get fully grown men arm in arm during a gig was a goose-bump inducing spectacle that remains unique to this very day.
