What weight? I typically use Mobil 1 as well, but tried Castrol Edge the time before last and it ran real well. Joined Nov 17, 2011 · 41 Posts

My last oil change I switched to Mobil 1 advanced fuel economy 0w20. I have noticed a couple things so far, first my gas mileage is up a solid 1mpg sometimes 2mpg, second my 4.7's cold startup tick is barely noticeable anymore.. It is currently colder than a witches tits in a cast iron bra here, so once spring comes I will stay with the 0w20 and see how
it does in warmer temps.

I have been considering the 0w20 but wasn't sure how it would do. I may try it on the next oil change.

I do the 5w30 out here. I haven't noticed any change but the engine seems to run smoother.

I've always ran 5w20 in hot and cold temperatures. What would be a downfall of using a lighter weight oil in cold temperatures? There is a lot of recommendations for our trucks but that doesn't stop people from modifying everything we can.

Mobil 1 0w20 is a fantastic oil...it meets Chrysler's ms6395 specs and likely has a better (higher % PAO) basestock than their 5w20. I ran mostly M1 0w20 for the first 100k miles or so before I started trying various others. If I had to pick a favorite 20wt, it'd be Pennzoil Ultra 5w20 but seriously any name-brand 20wt synthetic would
suffice. Also FYI, Chrysler recommends up to a 5w30 for this engine currently (as they did previously here) in other markets. So there should be no problem running a 0w/5w30 either since this engine doesn't have MDS.

Ive been running Pennzoil full synthetic 5w20. And I like Pennzoil because Chrysler runs it.
