If you’re living with mental illness, every step you take toward change is an accomplishment. Show
The Changes® outpatient mental health treatment programs offered at our Dallas-Ft. Worth metro-area facilities provide several pathways to help you build healthy coping skills, identify triggers and replacement behaviors, and achieve a higher quality of life. Some people step down to outpatient treatment from one of our inpatient programs, while others start their journey as an outpatient. We’ll work with you to understand any barriers you may face to receiving treatment, and to help find solutions. We offer schedules to fit your needs, payment plans to make treatment affordable, and non-emergency transportation in some areas. We’re ready to help you take the next step. What We TreatMental illness is a complex group of conditions that affect a person’s mood, thinking, and behavior. In our outpatient programs, we treat the following illnesses:
Our program begins with a mental and physical health assessment. Based on your assessment and your needs, our team will recommend a treatment plan that typically includes a combination of talk therapy, holistic therapies, peer-to-peer support groups, and medication management. Dual Diagnosis for Co-Occurring Disorders Sometimes people with mental health issues are also struggling with substance abuse. Together, we’ll develop a treatment plan that addresses your needs and all of your symptoms. What Does Help Look Like?We offer a wide range of therapy, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness training, family education and counseling, and fitness and wellness education. When you’re in outpatient mental health treatment, whether you are stepping down from inpatient care or beginning treatment as an outpatient, your plan will include one of two programs. Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)For people who need to maintain a work, home, or school schedule, our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers comprehensive outpatient services in a day or evening format. Typically, this program lasts two to four weeks and meets five to six days a week. You’ll participate in several sessions each day, including individual, group, and family therapy. You’ll also have opportunities to enjoy our beautiful grounds and take part in holistic activities like yoga, music, and art. Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)Your treatment plan may include our
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which meets three to five days a week for a minimum of nine hours per week. This program offers group and family therapy, as well as medication management, skill development, and long-term recovery planning. Before you complete the program, we’ll make sure that any ongoing treatment you need is aligned with your aftercare provider. What Do I Do Next?At our Dallas, TX-area facilities, your outpatient treatment will focus on you and your specific needs. Our first priority is to make sure you’re safe. You’ll be given a full assessment by our team to determine the best path for your recovery. We’ll ask about your physical and mental health history and the symptoms you’re currently experiencing. You can schedule an assessment by phone or chat anytime, day or night. Our Carrollton, TX location is also open for walk-ins 24/7. Following your assessment, our team will work with you to develop a personalized plan for treatment. Overview & Clinical ExpertiseAs you know, having a major depression is very different than being sad. Because of your depression, you usually see everything with a more negative attitude. You cannot imagine that any problem or situation will get better. Feelings interfere with daily activities, such as taking care of family, spending time with friends, or going to work or school. And this condition may be compounded by the added burden of a co-occurring disorder. Silver Hill is a top depression treatment center, with the breadth and depth of experience to properly evaluate your condition, make an accurate diagnosis, and develop an effective treatment plan that is precisely right for you. We use only evidence-based therapies. Our warm and caring environment will help you on your way to renewal and reconnection. Treatments & TherapiesSilver Hill Hospital treats adults who need treatment for depression as well as teens – who are treated in a separate unit to address their particular needs. After an evaluation, you are placed in a level of care depending upon the stage of your illness. Silver Hill offers three levels of comprehensive care for adults and adolescents corresponding to your need: Depression Treatment for Adults Adult Inpatient – for the acute phase of illness The goals of your inpatient treatment are a thorough diagnostic assessment, safe detoxification if required, plus symptom reduction and stabilization. Treatment includes the following:
Adult Transitional Living – for continued therapeutic recovery Our transitional living program is one of the very few programs in the country that focuses on treatment with DBT. It is designed for patients who experience difficulty with emotional control, impulsivity, self-damaging behaviors and interpersonal disorganization. This highly structured, intensive program is right for you if you do not need close inpatient supervision, but are not able to manage successfully yet in an outpatient setting. Through DBT skills training groups and coaching, you learn how to better regulate your emotions and to replace dysfunctional coping strategies with more adaptive behaviors. Under the guidance of highly trained staff, you “live” the skills and coping strategies you are learning, as you learn them. Core DBT skills are Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Distress Tolerance and the Middle Path. Adult Intensive Outpatient – for ongoing treatment from home Depression Treatment for Adolescents Adolescent Inpatient – for the acute phase of illness Our patient-focused, evidence-based treatments include:
Adolescent
Transitional Living – for continued therapeutic recovery The foundation of your treatment for depression is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – a highly-structured form of behavioral therapy that provides you with the skills necessary to regulate emotions, control destructive behaviors and improve interpersonal relations. Core DBT skills are Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Distress Tolerance and the Middle Path. You will reside on the Silver Hill campus in a house that is staffed 24/7 with highly trained DBT personnel. The minimum length of stay for this phase of treatment is 4 weeks, and you may choose to extend your treatment. Adolescent Intensive Outpatient – for ongoing treatment from home You learn the core skills of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you understand and manage powerful emotions, become more aware of yourself and how you think, and find effective ways of coping with stress. To ensure positive outcomes we work closely with you, your community-based clinicians, and your family to create a working diagnosis, develop a treatment plan, and implement a comprehensive plan for life after discharge. Co-Occurring DisordersBecause Silver Hill is a multidisciplinary psychiatric hospital, we are uniquely qualified to provide comprehensive care for patients who need treatment for more than one disorder. These psychiatric conditions may co-occur with depression, and require simultaneous treatment:
Complex Cases VideoPresident and Medical Director, Andrew Gerber, M.D., PhD discusses treatment for complex cases. Patient OutcomesWe use Dialectical Behavior (DBT) at Silver Hill to treat depression because in clinical tests it is proven to help adults and adolescents regulate their emotions. DBT works by giving you the tools you need to manage the pervasive sadness you experience. In addition, accepted psychiatric assessment tools show significant improvement in patients completing our Adolescent Transitional Living Program. Our patients:
These measures correlated in a way that showed that improvements in one dimension matched improvements in the others. These correlations suggest very strongly that this high-intensity DBT treatment for adolescents has robust, clinically significant effects. Patient ExperienceEntering treatment is a big step.
