Chart House

Location: 1700 Harbor Blvd, Weehawken
The Menu: Chart House is primarily known for its fresh seafood dishes, but the menu also features great steak options. (Not to mention slow-roasted prime rib.) In addition, they offer a full gluten-free menu. As for dessert, this spot is home to their original, signature Hot Lava Chocolate Cake
The View: This is the closest you can get to the Manhattan skyline without actually leaving New Jersey. The Chart House juts out into the Hudson River; putting diners directly on the water with panoramic views of New York City through floor-to-ceiling windows. It’s an experience that is hard to beat.
Why I like it: At this point, the Chart House is a full blown national success with over 24 locations.

The View: One of the rooms inside Felina is a bank vault retrofitted into a dining room. This truly one-of-a-kind dining experience is also a great spot for engagement or wedding photos. They also have a dedicated event space with a balcony and gorgeous marble floor. Basically, there’s a great view from every angle.

Likewise, popular sides include the sweet potato wedges and garlic and truffle manchego fries.
The View: Son Cubano feels within arm’s reach of the NYC skyline, sitting right along the West New York waterfront. Patrons can choose to enjoy the view from the glamorous indoor dining room, which is inspired by 1950s Cuba; or, otherwise, head outside for an incredible photo op and dining on the water.

Stone Water

Location: 125 State Route 181, Lake Hopatcong

But there’s also plenty for those who don’t favor fish, such as pork chops, gnocchi, flatbreads, burgers, and more. In addition, the menu includes an assortment of cocktails, wines, and beers.
The View: Stone Water is on the shore of Lake Hopatcong, and accessible by both land and sea; in other words, patrons can either drive to the restaurant, or take a boat ride. The lakeside view features boats cruising through the harbor during the day, and spectacular sunsets/stargazing at night.

The View: Instead of a skyline or waterside view, The Walpack Inn boasts a garden of greenery. As a benefit of being inside the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, they provide a Greenhouse Dining Room. While the fall foliage is most definitely a sight to see, the landscape is beautiful no matter the season.

Huntley Taverne

Location: 3 Morris Ave, Summit
The Menu: The Huntley Taverne has a clear and concise menu, but there’s no shortage on flavor. In fact, most patrons love to start by sharing a handful of appetizers. In particular, we recommend the cheddar onion biscuits, French onion soup dumplings, and crispy shrimp spring rolls.
The View: It’s true that there are no skyline or waterfront views at the Huntley Taverne, but it’s fine; because the overall ambiance, high ceilings, wooden beams, and fireplace give off a cozy and romantic vibe. It’s an ideal spot for anyone planning the perfect date night or an otherwise romantic night out.
Why I like it: Their classic Huntley Burger comes with bacon, blue cheese, red onions, garlic aioli, and truffle frites.

Ninety Acres

Location: 2 Main St, Peapack / Gladstone
The Menu: Ninety Acres is actually a 12-acre sustainable farm, which they use to craft their cuisine. (The original owner had 1,000 acres of property, but sold much of it over time.) The restaurant itself swaps menus seasonally, but the focus is always on local, sustainable ingredients. Options include salads, pastas, pizza, and more.
The View: There’s greenery all around at Ninety Acres, as it is part of the Natirar Mansion grounds. The interior dining area features hardwood and exposed brick, but they also offer seasonal outdoor dining on their patio; complete with fire pits and a unique opportunity to be truly surrounded by nature.

The View: The Stone House combines the rustic feel of being in the mountains with chic elegance. Their indoor dining areas are cozy and romantic, but their outdoor dining offers great views of nature. Their expansive patio has fire pits, an outdoor bar, ample seating, and even an outdoor TV!
Why I like it: Weekend brunch and an a la carte sushi menu round out the Stone House’s offerings.
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

Water and Wine

Location: 141 Stirling Rd, Watchung
The Menu: Water and Wine mixes Italian flavors with an American menu and plenty of drink options. For example, they have an extensive — as in over 25 pages long — wine list. Meanwhile, some menu highlights include the stuffed mushrooms appetizer, Grilled Atlantic Swordfish entree, and the cannoli bread pudding dessert.
The View: With a name like Water and Wine, it’s no surprise there’s a view out the window. The restaurant borders Watchung Lake, a large lake and small park. The view may change depending on the season, however, as Watchung Lake can freeze over in the winter. But we say there’s something about a frozen lake that is even more romantic.
Why I like it: Water and Wine has really gone above and beyond to provide exceptional Home Dining options.

It’s the perfect place to sit back, relax, and enjoy a romantic meal set against a beautiful backdrop. Patrons can also join Le Club Avenue, their private beach club with world-class amenities.
Why I like it: Even in the winter, you get the best of both worlds at Avenue Le Club; they offer fireside dining with views of the Atlantic Ocean.

The View: Bird and Betty’s sits right on the bay. In fact, their spacious second floor open bar is perfect for watching the sun set over the water. The restaurant is seasonal (and closes for the winter), but that’s not a bad thing; it just gives patrons something to look forward to every spring.
Why I like it: The location is a date night delight, close to shopping outlets and Fantasy Island Amusement Park.
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

Charlie’s of Bay Head

Location: 72 Bridge Ave, Bay Head
The Menu: Charlie’s isn’t just for dinner, they also offer lunch, Sunday brunch, dessert, and a kid’s menu. Their blue claw crab cakes, crispy sesame tofu, and grilled lamb lollipops are standout starters. Likewise, their Hangover Burger and Brown Butter Lobster Toast are brunch favorites.
The View: Charlie’s of Bay Head overlooks Twilight Lake, offering a serene view worthy of its name. Guests can dine on the second floor balcony and enjoy a sunset right on the water. But the sleek, modern interior is easy on the eyes as well, so dining indoors is just as fun.

Iron Whale

Location: 1200 Ocean Ave, Asbury Park
The Menu: Iron Whale is a smorgasbord of seafood. They feature a raw bar as well as shrimp, lobster, fish, crab, scallops, and even a fish taco bar. Of course, there are a few meat, pasta, and vegetarian options too, like the tofu or three cheese ravioli. But we recommend the Lobster Mac N’ Cheese.
The View: Since the Iron Whale is on the Asbury Park boardwalk, it offers views of the Atlantic Ocean. In addition, they have floor-to-ceiling windows and large double doors they open during warm weather. Meanwhile, the cozy interior boasts a fireplace and open kitchen concept, so there are really no bad seats.
Why I like it: Their lunch menu features both a short rib grilled cheese and blackened chicken salad sandwich.
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

Panini Bay

Location: 101 Parker Rd, Tuckerton
The Menu: The name may imply this is a sandwich shop, but Panini Bay offers traditional Italian cuisine. Of course, they do offer paninis and sandwiches, including the Chicken Panini and the Eggplant Panini; as well as a Parmesan Sandwich, Fish Taco, and Blackened Mahi Sandwich. Pasta, veal, fish, and more are also on offer.

Location: 1301 Beach Ave, Cape May
The Menu: The restaurant inside Peter Shields Inn prepares what they call “traditional and contemporary seasonal selections”. They pair these delicious dishes — for instance, the Crispy Scottish Salmon — with wines from Cape May Winery & Vineyard. But we recommend starting with the PSI Cheese Board.
The View: Peter Shields has five different indoor dining rooms, but it’s the front porch that steals the show. With both an extensive wine list and BYO option, guests can enjoy their drink of choice on the patio; all while taking in the exceptional views of both the beach and the Atlantic Ocean.
Why I like it: Executive Chef Carl Messick offers a 5-course Amuse Bouche Chef’s Tasting for the table.
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

Sirena Ristorante

Location: 27 Ocean Ave, Pier Village, Long Branch
The Menu: Classic Italian cuisine is on the menu at Sirena Ristorante. Antipasti options include meatballs al forno as well as Polenta & Gamberi. Of course, entrees feature fish, meat, pizza, and pasta dishes; but we really enjoy the side options like the Italian long hot peppers and olive oil whipped potato.
The View: Sirena is right on the beach of Long Branch’s famous Pier Village. (A prime destination for shopping, dining, and more.) It feels like dining on an island paradise from their deck, which overlooks the beach and ocean. Plus, thanks to their large windows and palm trees, even dining indoors is like a tropical escape.
Why I like it: Sirena offers family-style takeout (but they do ask for 24 hour advance notice).

Carlucci’s current dinner specials include Filet Mignon and Shrimp Diana, Veal Chop Cafone, and the Prime Seafood Trio.

Why I like it: This family-owned restaurant uses Italian recipes that have been passed down through generations.
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

The ChopHouse

Location: 4 South Lakeview Dr, Gibbsboro
The Menu: It’s no surprise the award-winning menu at The ChopHouse has a healthy focus on meat. The chefs prepare steaks, lamb, chicken, and seafood, in addition to their signature ChopHouse meatballs. But we say to start with some crispy buffalo shrimp, cheesesteak spring rolls, or crispy brussels sprouts.
The View: With a street name like Lakeview Drive, expectations are high for a stunning view. Of course, The ChopHouse doesn’t disappoint, overlooking the beautiful Silver Lake. Nothing beats sitting around their outdoor firepit or having a romantic dinner for two out on the balcony.
Why I like it: Sundays are Prime Rib day at The ChopHouse, offering a four-course meal for $48.
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

Franklinville Inn

Location: 2526 Delsea Dr, Franklinville
The Menu: Franklinville Inn has both a traditional dinner menu as well as a smaller, bar-style lounge menu. The former features both land and sea options such as baby back ribs and lobster tails; meanwhile, the latter serves Pub Fare including soups, salads, sandwiches, and appetizers like volcano shrimp.
The View: This lovingly restored inn boasts a cozy lounge area; in addition to a dining room with a rustic wood interior and brick fireplace. Franklinville Inn doesn’t boast a skyline, waterfront, or luscious greenery view; but it is a quaint, romantic restaurant perfect for date night.
Why I like it: The tantalizing dessert menu offers creme brulee, chocolate mousse pie, cinnamon rice pudding, and more.
More info: Look for them online to learn more.

Li Beirut

Location: 619 West Collings Ave, Collingswood
The Menu: Owners Patricia and Tony Massoud have infused Mediterranean flair from their home country of Lebanon into the menu. At Li Beirut, you’ll find authentic Lebanese dishes like shawarma beef or chicken, tajin, and Fatet Batenjen. We also recommend the baklava pistachios for dessert!
The View: Li Beirut inhabits a quaint, 100-year-old building. The interior is decorated with lush greenery, but the private garden is the star of the dining show. (Though dining out on their porch is also a cozy delight.) In fact, the garden houses many of the herbs and spices featured in Li Beirut’s dishes.
Why I like it: The excellent service and variety of vegan dishes make this spot both accessible and enjoyable.
