  • Dealertrack - ST-556, ST-556-LSE, RUT-25, RUT-25-LSE, and RUT-50

Schedule an Appointment
Customers who wish to schedule an appointment at one of the select Driver Services facilites requiring appointments may do so beginning the morning facilities open. Please visit the Driver Services Facility Locations page for more information.

  • Illinois driver’s licenses, instruction permits and identification cards that have an expiration date between January 1, 2020 and December 1, 2022 have been extended until December 1, 2022. Commercial driver’s licenses and commercial learner’s permits are excluded from this extension.
  • Restricted Driving Permits that expire between December 1, 2021 and December 1, 2022 will be extended to December 1, 2022.

Do seniors have to wait in line at the DMV in Illinois?

As a result, drivers age 75 and older with a 2020 driver's license expiration date do not need to visit a facility to renew their driver's license until shortly before their birthday in 2021. Also, please remember that those 65 and older get “priority” service and can go to the front of the line.
