4.0 out of 5 starsLight and sound not working. Update Sent new battery!

Update: Company sending replacement battery pack. First rate company should get a higher rating and review. Thanks looking forward to replacing for kids. Original post: The light and sound feature does not work(after reading instructions and placing batteries inside). Sad look on my daughter’s face when I said I may have to return. My slightly older son doesn’t care, but lost interest in this non functional pumpkin. Now this is no longer a toy, but rather Halloween decor. We are keeping it because my preschool age daughter thinks it is cute, but we are not interacting with anymore. Really not enough to keep her interest either. Waist of money. Another paper weight around the house to store (without the promised lights and sound). So upsetting. Run away from this old damaged inventory

3.0 out of 5 starsHard for children to play alone

I bought this for my two girls (ages 2 & 4) to play with to get them excited for Halloween. They both loved carving pumpkins and I thought this would be a good continuation of the fun. They both thought it was exciting until they realized how difficult it was to get the pieces in and out of the pumpkin. My four year old had to use every ounce of strength to swap out the limbs and facial pieces and still needed help. My 2 year old became quickly frustrated with the toy and only played with the top that flickered light and made music (5 second Halloween noises.) I was hoping it would be easier like a Mr. potato head, but it was nothing like that and they only give you enough pieces to make a couple faces. The excitement and play time was short lived in my house.

My son is 20 months old and he loves this jack o lantern! It’s finally a decoration he can touch and play with. I don’t mind leaving it out in plain view as it’s seasonally appropriate. The video attached was taken a half hour into playing. He had been dancing to the music and loves being able to turn the light on and off. There are plenty of colorful pieces to play with and the plastic is sturdy “step2 quality”. My 6 year old also enjoyed its novelty for a bit and being able to make different combinations. I have a feeling this will last for years of play. The only slightly bad thing is the pieces are a bit difficult for my son to get in by himself. Even my 6 year old asked for help. Perhaps with more play it will loosen up. I also wish the pumpkin itself was a bit larger. Nonetheless, we are happy with it and would recommend it.

Super cute but was very disappointed with the arms. They have longer pointed ends that go into the pumpkin. They are a bit sharp for an 18 month and up toy. I would never give something like this to an 18 month old who is walking/running around and is putting things in their mouth. I decided to give them the toy without the arms. I think it would have been better to have ears instead of arms or just more face pieces. Jack-O-lanterns don’t really need arms...
Ok, got the idea to use Mr. Potato Head parts so now he has , safer I think, arms and more options for his face! The kids love him.

My son really likes this jack o lantern toy. Our only complaint is that it’s difficult to push the pieces in, he can’t do it by himself.

I use this to decorate my baby girl’s place at the cemetery. It holds up very well in all weather conditions and the lights and sounds work even after in horrible rains and wind. I love step2 because of their high quality toys that allow me to decorate my daughter’s place for different holidays.

Only problem with this item is my 2 year old has a hard time getting the pieces on the pumpkin. It's pretty tough to push them in.

I purchased this for my child, who really enjoyed playing with it! At first, parts can be difficult to push into the holes, but my child was able to do it independently. Face parts and arms are interchangeable. All pieces have been very durable.

We got this for our 3 year old and while it is a super cute variation of Mr. Potato Head...she had a hard time sticking the pieces on the pumpkin. Even I had a tough time getting some of them to click in place. Thus, it made it hard for her to play with it by herself.

Love this! Only wish pieces were a little easier to insert for chubby little hands to have more independence
