Transfer apps to new iphone from android

About this app

Everything about iOS is designed to be easy. That includes switching to it. With just a few steps, you can migrate your content automatically and securely from your Android device with the Move to iOS app. No need to save your stuff elsewhere before switching from Android. The Move to iOS app securely transfers all kinds of content data for you:

Contacts
Message history
Camera photos and videos
Mail accounts
Calendars
WhatsApp content

Make sure to keep your devices nearby and connected to power until the transfer is complete. When you choose to migrate your data, your new iPhone or iPad will create a private Wi-Fi network and find your nearby Android device running Move to iOS. After you enter a security code, it will begin transferring your content and put it in the right places. Just like that. Once your content has been transferred, you’re ready to get going. That’s it — you can start using your new iPhone or iPad and experiencing its endless possibilities. Enjoy.

Ratings and reviews

Not sure of the very negative reviews but for transferring whatsapp chats, it worked perfectly for me at first try. Yes, it is annoying that you need to rub both screens periodically during the prep and transfer to avoid connection drop, yes it is annoying that the progress bar stays stuck at 2-3% for 5 good minutes BUT... Overall that helped me to solve the issue I was struggling with this transfer. Nice also that a lot of apps (not everyone though) got replicated along this process.

I'm sure it's hard on the technical side to switch from Android file formats to iOS, but this app pretty completely fails at achieving this goal. The file transfer ALMOST completed the first time I did it, but my new iPhone fell asleep (quite easy to do because in setup you can't change how long it takes for the screen to sleep, meaning I had to tap it every 30 seconds for HOURS), and the transfer failed anyway. After many more attempts I just gave up on transferring most data.

Complete garbage. Can't alter the iphone settings without completing setup, so the iphone falls asleep, at which point the transfer fails. Meanwhile, the progress bar doesn't actually work, so you can't tell how much or if any data has transferred, and if you start over, it'll just copy it all again. Love having three duplicates of my contacts that are incredibly difficult to delete manually on iOS, Apple! Great product!

Moving your photos, contacts, calendars, and accounts from your old Android phone or tablet to your new iPhone or iPad is easier than ever with Apple's Move to iOS app. Apple's first Android app hooks your old Android and new Apple device together over a direct Wi-Fi connection and transfers over all your data. But keep in mind that you can only transfer data from an Android phone or tablet to an iPhone or iPad running iOS 9 or higher. If you've got the new iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, or iPhone 13 Pro Max, you'll have no problem.

NOTE: While moving to iOS app transfers a lot of your data, it doesn't transfer your apps, music, or any of your passwords as they are not compatible.

Products used in this guide:

  • Apple's new standard: iPhone 13
  • Transfer your files: Move to iOS (Android app)

How to move your data from Android to iPhone or iPad with Move to iOS

  1. Follow the prompts to set up your new iPhone or iPad until you reach the screen titled "Apps & Data".
  2. Tap the "Move Data from Android" option.
  3. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Play Store and search for Move to iOS.
  4. Open the Move to iOS app listing.
  5. Tap Install.
  6. Choose Open after it's installed.
  7. Tap Continue on both devices.
  8. On your Android device, enter the six-digit code displayed on the iPhone or iPad.
  9. After entering the code, the Android device will connect with your iPhone or iPad over a peer-to-peer Wi-Fi connection and determine what data will be transferred. Press Continue on the Android Device to continue.
  10. Keep the phones next to each other and then select Connect.
  11. It will ask you what data you want to be transferred over so that you can quickly log in on your new Apple device. This includes things like contacts, calendar, Google Account, Camera Roll, and more. Select everything you want to move over then tap Continue.
  12. It will take time to transfer your data so keep the phones near each other and leave them alone. The more data you have to transfer the longer it will take. Press Done once the transfer completes.
  13. Now move over to the iPhone and press Continue Setting Up iPhone.
  14. Continue to follow the iPhone prompts to finish setting up your phone.

How long the transfer process takes varies depending on how much data you're transferring — especially if you were storing a lot of photos and videos. We transferred roughly 400MB of files, and it took about 8 minutes from starting the setup process on iPhone to entering account passwords.
