What are the roles of the holy spirit

Welcome to Part 2 of the 10 Roles of the Holy Spirit. As we were able to see last week, the Holy Spirit is the 3rd person of the Holy Trinity, He is not an “it”, but He has the following defined personality traits and is a Divine Person who was promised to us by Jesus Christ.

1. Companion

2. Comforter

3. Intercessor

4. Convictor of sin, righteousness, and judgement to come

5. Teacher

We explained these roles of the Holy Spirit in depth in the Part 1 (Please look it up in our blog section if you haven’t yet).

Moving on, this article will take you through the remaining 5 roles of the Holy Spirit in our lives as believers.

Let’s get started!

6. The Holy Spirit Sanctifies Us

To be “Sanctified” means is to be set apart as sacred. It is being purified of self and sin to become more spiritually mature and more Christlike. This is an important process for a believer – the old goes and one gradually becomes as Jesus is. It is a continuous process which takes time and will not be complete (in a practical sense) until we get to heaven.

“But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God,” (1 Corinthians 6:11)

The Holy Spirit wants to help us in this process of sanctification which involves dying to our old self and being what God created us to be. It is the process of being free from the entanglement of sin and living a victorious Christian life.

7. The Holy Spirit Makes Us More Like Christ

God’s desire is for us to become more like Christ. As we walk on this Christian journey and that should become our desire as well.

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit,” (2 Corinthians 3:18 )

8. The Holy Spirit Helps Us to do the Father’s Will

“Then the Spirit said to Philip, ‘Go up and join this chariot,’’ (Acts 8:29)

As we go through scripture we see the Holy Spirit directing people to do different things. His direction in our lives is how we learn to tune our ears to hear God’s voice as we read the Word. We should always ask the Holy Spirit to show us the will of the Father for us and also help us to do it.

9. The Holy Spirit Gives Us Hope

Hope is the fuel that every soul living in the world today needs.  The kind of hope that only God can give is only available through the power of the Holy Spirit.   It will take you through all kinds of trials and tribulations.  As we go through difficult situations in our lives we should tap into this power that is readily available.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope, … (Romans 15:13)

10. The Holy Spirit Empowers Us with the Necessary Gifts for Ministry

The Church (believers) needs different kind of gifts. These are distributed in the Body of Christ, each person receiving differently from the other. The gift(s) that we receive empower us for the calling God has placed on in our lives and for our function within the Body of Christ. We should embrace and be content with the gift that God has given us so that we can benefit the rest of the body.

Listen to the following scripture stated in 1 Corinthians12:4-11.

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.

A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said.

It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

What are the 7 roles of the Holy Spirit?

The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. While some Christans accept these as a definitive list of specific attributes, others understand them merely as examples of the Holy Spirit's work through the faithful.

What is the role of the Holy Spirit Bible verses?

John 15:26: The Holy Ghost testifies of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints believe that one of the main roles of the Holy Ghost is to testify of truth, especially of Jesus Christ and His divinity!

What is the role of the Holy Spirit in our family?

Oaks explained, 'The Holy Ghost is our comforter, direction finder, our communicator, our interpreter, our witness and our purifier. ' (1996 Semi-Annual Conference) Every family needs to sincerely pray for and live worthy of the companionship of the Holy Ghost so he can fulfill his role.

What are the 7 characteristics of the Holy Spirit Bible verse?

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23, NLT). What really stands out to me is that these characteristics are a true work of the Spirit, not of our flesh.
