How Does Traction Control (TC) Work

When you slip, your other leg, your hands, and the rest of your body will work in coordination to counteract the fall in microseconds. They take action without your permission, and you’re grateful for it. The traction control system works the same way.

Every wheel of your car has speed sensors connected to your car’s computer. The traction control module continuously monitors the data from these sensors and the power train control module. It compares the speed of every wheel. If any mismatch is noticed, the correction measures kick in.

The module instructs the Ant-Lock Braking System(ABS)  to direct some braking force to the wheel(s) with the slippage until traction is regained. 

At the same time, the module will instruct the power control module to significantly reduce the torque sent to the wheel in question while increasing the torque to the wheel opposite. This goes on until traction is achieved.

This is definitely what happens when the star in your movie decides to make an emergency 1800 turn.
