Although there is not a branch anywhere near my home, I still consider it to be convenient as every other part of the city is teeming with Regions.
As a small checking account customer with very little to offer them, I find that I only use the bank because not having a checking account makes life too difficult. I do, however, feel my money would be better off locked in a home safe. I can not think of one single instance where being a Regions customer has benefited me or gone out of their way to do anything but punish me with fees. After much persistence, they finally made my debit card to work so that if I do not have funds a charge can't
be made. Instead of letting the charge go through only to later charge me with a hefty overdraft fee, the charge is simply declined as it should be. This has virtually eliminated the overdraft problem for me. It takes asking them and ignoring any other suggestion. They love customers like me, who are not at all wealthy because we are the easiest to fine. My primary objective as a customer is to avoid the bank's fees and punishments. They have never agreed to help me with even the smallest loan
or any benefit or perk or anything. I once had money slowly taken from my account for almost a year. A few thousand dollars that was withdrawn from the same ATM a little at a time that I did not notice until they started getting larger. I had never used this ATM and never been to the bar where it was located. It was a Wells Fargo ATM but since my account was with Regions I reported to them. I am not a technician nor a detective. I don't know how this had happened but I reported it to the Regions
Fraud department and signed an affidavit. I fully expected my bank of nearly 10 years to have my back on this. I provided everything I could think of and stated the absolute truth on my affidavit. Apparently this was not enough. I was pretty much told that the only person who could have done this was me. They had no video, I'd never been to this location, other customers had been complaining of skimming and a week later someone broke into this establishment and stole the entire machine. There
was clearly illegal activity going on with this machine. It certainly wasn't me stealing my own money. I thought the details written in my affidavit were documented as my legal word. Regardless, this money was never returned in any amount. I was basically told that I was a liar and that despite the fact that I was a victim of a crime and despite my money being insured, despite my signed affidavit, I was to blame and no money would be returned. So essentially I was robbed by the criminal and then
robbed by Regions Bank. Regions response to this felt worse than the criminal's actions. I've consistently let Regions walk all over me and the one time I neeeded them, the kicked me while I was down. One conversation that I with a teller when pleading for help ended with her muttering something racist towards me. I am Caucasian but many people mistake me for being Spanish. It shouldn't matter if I were green or purple. My money was stolen over and over from the same ATM and after opening my
investigation the same ATM was stolen, ripped through the wall of the Baron chains tied to a truck. The ATM from the bar I'd never been to until all of this mess went down. One reason I had never been is because I don't drink alcohol and many people have been murdered in the surrounding area. Yet my Regions Bank treats me as if I am a criminal and refuses to use their insurance to replace an estimated $3k taken over time. They STOLE THE MACHINE! It wasn't me! my family is for money? Do you know how far $3k that we earned would help us? It does not pay to be honest but we do the best we can anyway. 10/10 a company like Regions will recognize your honesty and your misfortune by calling you a wetback criminal and not returning the money that someone stole from you. I could not provide a good enough explanation of how the criminal stole from the account. How the heck should I know? I'm the victim! Find a different bank. Regions will get you with overdraft charges. I wish I had the tools to have them investigated once again. I have nothing good to say about this bank. Closing my account is not even possible atm due to direct deposit. It's terrible how they continue to get away with this. Then when you bring your facts to the table you get the blame for this. I believe they reorder, hold and who knows what else they do with transactions. It's a shame when you know your right and can't do anything about getting your money back. I haven't been with regions long but since I have been here I have been charged over $300 in overdraft charges in the last 2 weeks on transactions that have the money in the account to cover them. When I call the customer service number they aren't helpful at all. They act as if the bank doesn't make mistakes and says it is my fault. I go to my local branch here and they have to send an email to the branch that I opened my account with in order to overturn their overdraft fees. I still haven't gotten it back yet. Also the balance that shows on your account isn't a true balance. It's fake. They hold the funds for the transactions that you make and 3 days later place it back into the account leaving you overdrawn so they can charge the fee. That is fraudulent activity and I plan to take this up with my lawyer. Recently requested to have one of my accts closed. However,
the Clermont branch on highway 50 closed ALL of my accounts. We have been with Regions for over 10 years and we have never had a problem, until recently. Our mortgage servicer took our house payment twice and put our account into overdraft and we immediately did not have enough to cover bills at a very hard time of the month. My LifeGreen checking account offers a great level of security and customer service by Regions, so I went in to meet with someone at a local branch. They were able to help me straighten out the mess my mortgage company started and temporarily put the money back in my account with a little proof and then helped me to straighten out the mess. All of the overdraft fees were waived and money was put back into the account. Another perk is that I got a safe deposit box at a discount rate because of this account and also got my first month waived. I highly recommend Regions as a bank, but moreover the LifeGreen checking account. My Regions LifeGreen checking account was the first bank account I ever opened up and so far I've had a really positive experience. I cash a lot of checks at my local branch and had an issue where I had lost my wallet and needed to get some cash while I waited for my new debit card to arrive. One of the tellers let me draw from my checking account without my ID because she obviously knew me from coming in there so often. It was a really positive experience overall. I've heard some bad things as far as loans and mortgages go but I've never had any issues checking account wise. I switched from BB&T to regions. BB&T started charging me $5 for not having direct deposit and then it went to $7, So far Regions has not charged me any fees and I like that the teller stays open longer then the bank does! They have a lot of convenient locations and have always been helpful to me, I had a lot of problems with other banks! I have been with them almost a year now and no problem or complaints. After dealing with Suntrust in my young adult life, I was eager to find a bank that worked for me instead of against me. I did find that in my regions account! I love the customer service, I visit multiple branches depending on where I am, and I have never encountered an unhelpful teller. Regions customer service are usually pretty nice and friendly, but I feel like some of the products they offer to their customers could be at a better price. Cashier's checks are extremely expensive for customers, $8 for a cashier's check? That's ridiculous, I know other financial institutions offer them significantly lower or even free. The overdraft fee is also a little expensive as well. Plus, I wished they would over instant access to your money when you make a deposit. I'd rather not have to wait until the next business day if it's deposited after a certain time. But, it's nice that you can get your monthly fee waived by direct depositing, since many people do direct deposit. I have been using Regions Bank for about 3 years now for my checking account needs. One of my main reasons for choosing Regions was that there were many locations here in Mississippi. Also, I was able to get a check card without having to wait months and maintain a minimum balance. Here at local branch, the customer service is great, and the staff is very helpful and polite. I upgraded my account to an online green checking account. This waives the monthly fee as long as I swipe my check card some many times a month. I went into my local branch to do this. With this account you can write checks; however, you are limited to 3 checks a month. Any check wrote after the 3rd, is fifty cents extra a month. What I also love is that I am able to deposit my payroll check through the ATM. I usually have to do this on my lunch break and this really is much quicker than having to wait in line. I highly recommend Regions especially if you like online/mobile banking. The first 5 years I had this checking account were actually not too bad but lately they have went way downhill. I had a issue where I was out of town with a check that I could not deposit with there mobile banking app and no regions bank for a 100 miles. I ended up getting 5 overdraft fees for like 1-2 dollar charges. They told me they would remove one overdraft fee and then just re added it when I got off the phone with them. Terrible customer service I will be switching to another bank soon. I've had my checking account with Regions for 7 years now. When I first got it, I was receiving direct deposit so I didn't have monthly fees. However, now I do and it's a little annoying to have to pay them to hold my money. The major "downside" has been that online access is out nightly for an hour and other times longer than that. Regions is your one stop bank. On-line banking is intuitive. You can easily move money between account, pay bills online, even deposit check through your cellphone. Customer service in the bank is superb. The only thing I do not like about Regions is the fact it is very hard to get a person on the phone- you have to go through a maze of answering machines and prompts. My husband and I absolutely love Regions. They have been so good to us. We can always find an ATM around specific to Regions, so we almost never have to pay ATM fees for other banks. Not long ago, our bank account information was stolen, and someone was trying to charge to our account. We were able to get in with someone at the bank that same day. He was so easy to work with and got everything taken care of immediately, including getting us new debit cards and walking us through the process of correcting the issue. It amazed me how if you did get into a situation where your account was going to overdraw they would let the largest transactions go through first and then the smaller ones to rack up the most amount of Overdraft Fees allowed. They do have ATMs and locations everywhere which is the only thing they have my credit union beat on. I've been banking with regions now for the past two years. I have a checking and savings account. It has been a very good and reliable bank to work with. I use online banking on my desktop and on my smartphones. It's very easy to use And i've never had a problem with. I opened my account with regions so I could easily spend my money; because most of my income is from work at home sources and therefore it all gets routed through organizations like paypal and amazon. In order to activate my debit card i tried using it at an atm like the paperwork said to do, but it did not work so I borrowed the phone from the gas station to call it in. I gave them my name, social, how the account was created, address, date of birth, and phone number. then the woman wanted me to confirm a recent deposit. ok no that's not going to work for me. i get hundreds of deposits on a regular basis, varying between $10 and .02 cents. I explained my situation. Now my card still doesn't work, I can no longer log into my online account, the automated system has me locked out. AND the phone lines only have people available during normal business hours. I do not recommend.
