What type of transmission fluid for 2006 ford escape

The 2006 ford escape uses dexron or mercon i transmission fluid. this is atf iii fluid. you can purchase this fluid in 1 quart containers at most big box retail locations, automotive shops, and online at reputable car part websites. you can expect to pay between $ 3 and $ 15 per bottle. the manual for this vehicle states it can take up to 10.2 quarts of transmission fluid, however, it was been reported by some drivers that they were only able to fill their reservoir from empty to the full line with around 5 to 6 quarts. you may want to purchase a funnel to aide you in delivering the new fluid to the reservoir without causing any undue mess.

Your transmission -- from empty -- takes about 10.5 quarts of fluid. You should use Mercon V fluid.

The problem is -- most times no one fills a transmission from empty. What are you doing and trying to accomplish?
