These Companies Supply Equipment After You’re Hired
Getting to work from home is a benefit by itself, but finding a company that will let you work from home AND sends you a computer is even better.
If you’ve wanted to get a remote job but think you can’t because you have an old, outdated computer, don’t worry. There are a few companies out there that will send you a computer.
And some will also provide you with whatever you need to perform your job, including paying for your internet service.
Also, most companies that hire remote employees will list their technical requirements somewhere in the job posting, stating the specs your computer should have. A good indicator that a company supplies equipment is if they don’t list any computer requirements.
Equipment Needed to Work From Home
Here are the basics needed to work from home. But keep in mind every company will have its own requirements so be sure to read them carefully.
- A dedicated, quiet, distraction-free work area with a door that can be closed and locked.
- A newer (no more than 5 to 7 years old) desktop PC or laptop with a Windows operating system.
- Updated browser, virus protection, and a firewall.
- High-speed, hard-wired internet service.
- A noise-canceling headset with a mute button.
- A webcam.
What if You Don’t Have a Computer?
As I mentioned above, if you don’t have a computer, some companies will provide one to you after you have been hired for the job.
The companies listed below will either supply a laptop, a thin client computer, or an allotted amount of money for you to set up your home office.
Things to Keep in Mind
It’s important to remember the equipment sent to you is not yours to keep. Should you terminate your employment, the company will want everything sent back to them, so make sure to take care of it.
Also, most companies have a strict policy regarding the use of their equipment. The equipment should be used for work purposes only, and don’t download any software that hasn’t been pre-approved by the company.

Beware of Scams!
A legitimate company will only provide equipment after you have completed your application, gone through interviews, and have been hired.
Anyone randomly reaching out to you, offering you a job, and claiming they will send you a check to buy equipment is a scammer. No legitimate company will ever do this!
