How do I know if my crankshaft position sensor is working?Connect your meter leads to the sensor pins. Make sure to keep your meter lead wires away from engine moving parts during this test. Have an assistant crank the engine for a few seconds while you watch the meter's readout. The sensor should produce a voltage pulsing signal.
Can a dirty crankshaft sensor cause problems?Driving with a failing crankshaft position sensor can be difficult and potentially dangerous. It could lead to long-term vehicle damage and expensive repairs, or even stop the car from working at all.
