Hey all! This is my first post, so go easy on me if this is in the wrong spot. I picked up a '14 Cherokee Lattitude a few months back and have noticed that the stock headlights are really kind of garbage. Do you have any recommendations for upgrade packages? Price, ease of install, and type of headlights are all in my criteria.

I LOVE the look of HID & LED lights, but in general I've found those are more expensive.

Any suggestions??

HI and welcome to JCC, congrats on joining the KL club...as for suggestions, well yes...I would recommend the search feature ;-}

I can highly recommend the Xenon Depot Extreme HID kit detailed very well on these forums. XD is a vendor here and they are extremely knowledgeable and helpful with updating your stock lights to HID, I have the kit and it's literally (well....figuratively) night and day over the stock lights.

When I initially read this post, I went out to see how easy it would be to change the bulbs. I can't even see the sockets! To keep the cost down, Sylvania SilverStars or zXes. The zXes state on the packaging that their lifetime is less than a normal halogen bulb.

To see the sockets the easiest way is to unscrew the wheel well liner in front of the tyre and peel it back to see the back of the headlights.

HID's would have fit better. Run the wires thru the cap, seal the hole with a grommet and some JB Weld. Make sure to mount the ballast outside the headlight housing, they make a lot of heat and can melt the housing if installed inside with the bulb.

Hmmm. We don't have the full picture here. The dust caps don't fit back on because you have wires coming out or because the LED bulbs have heat dissipators/fins/fan that stick out ?
I've read other members here mention they got dirt and water inside the headlamp housings because they left the caps off. Moisture may not reach the inside of the projector, but it can and will cause corrosion on connectors inside the lamp housing. You want protection there, absolutely. So.. if you have heat dissipators sticking out, you could DIY a new cover with a small plastic bowl or something... and stick it to the back of the housing with Gorilla tape or something. If it's wires needing to run outside the headlamp, then you can drill a hole in the dust caps, run the wires out and then seal the hole with good tape.

I used these when I did the upgrade in my F150, you would just need to buy the right size.
