Can the ER help with something in my eye?

It is always best to see an eye doctor, either an optometrist or an ophthalmologist, rather than going to an urgent care center or an emergency room. If that is not possible, then an urgent care center or an emergency room will probably be better than not being seen at all.

What is considered an emergency in eyes?

Eye emergencies include cuts, scratches, objects in the eye, burns, chemical exposure, and blunt injuries to the eye or eyelid. Certain eye infections and other medical conditions, such as blood clots or glaucoma, may also need medical care right away.

Can Urgent Care Address eye issues?

Many emergency rooms and urgent care facilities lack the proper equipment for proper eye exams. In an emergency room or urgent care facility you will probably see a general health practitioner rather than a specialized eye care professional like your optometrist.

When should you visit eye Hospital?

If there's an injury to your eye, or if you have sudden vision loss, swelling, bleeding, or pain in your eye, visit an emergency room or urgent care center. We do the research so you don't have to.
