1 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/09/2022

I turned on my vehicle and randomly had multiple warning lights come on including power steering, acc, vsa, hill start assist, lkas, abs. The power steering completely went out completely randomly but the power steering fluid is full. Two weeks ago I had my fuel pump recalled and now I have these issues. Valley hi Honda in victorville CA has not returned my calls and has been absolutely no help. If I had been driving there would be a good chance I would have crashed as I would have been unable to navigate a turn.

2 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/01/2022

The adaptive cruise control disengages abruptly during its operation with a beep and cannot be reengaged unless it is restarted. Honda seems to have released a TSB for this issue but this car hasn't been updated for that TSB software update. Nevertheless I wish to log this complaint since it did occur a couple of times on the road so far with no obvious abnormal surrounding situations. The windshield and the weather were clear. The second incident occurred during night. Plan to go the dealer and get the TSB software flashed.

3 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/29/2022

Brake system indicator light came on 2 weeks prior to driver assist failure, cruise control no longer works, lane departure malfunction, collision detection malfunction, adaptive steering malfunction. Basically the whole driver assisted system no longer works I took it to be fixed by shop they cleared codes but problem still exists.

4 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2016 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/28/2022

Adaptive cruise control as well as automatic braking has come close several times to cause an accident on the highway. Sometimes a truck will be passing me in the left lane and the car will all of a sudden slam on brakes when there is nothing in front of me almost getting rear ended from the car behind me. Even when the cruise control isn’t set the automatic breaking will activate randomly when a large truck is passing me. I purchased this vehicle used and reported this to the dealer time of purchase but they did not fix it. But at the time it was not as noticeable. The car has less than 100,000 miles. The lane departure does not work pulling the car to oncoming traffic. In oncoming traffic in left lane it constantly causes the automatic breaking light to flash. This also randomly kicks off the cruise control. This situation seems to be getting worse. The form below is asking for a date that these incidents happen and does not give a place to say it happens every day, it’s only asking for a specific date. One day this is going to cause a severe accident.

6 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/11/2022

I took my 2019 Honda Civic into the dealership because I got a warning signal that says, collision mitigation system problem. The dealership says it needs a part that is back ordered and told me I could drive vehicle until part comes in. It has been several weeks. I am not comfortable driving my vehicle with this warning light on plus whatever they did since I assume this is a vital safety component/system. Also0, I have no cruise which makes long trips uncomfortable.

7 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/27/2022

Driving home from work. Cruise set at 73mph. I had just passed another car and was about 600 yrd in front of them on the pkwy, when the car just started breaking and ding, I get multiple warnings on the dash as I'm trying to get out of the way of other vehicles. The car drove normal the next 5 miles under my control but the dash is still lit with a collision mitigation system problem, adaptive cruise control problem, road departure mitigations system problem, drive carefully systems initializing problem, brakes system light. I'll note that there was not bad weather, there was no rain or snow. It was 80f. There was no impact, accident, etc.

8 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/30/2022

While driving on the freeway at 75 mph, the adaptive cruise control was engaged, and when commnig up behind a slower moving truck in the slow lane, our car decelerated to match it's speed. I then went to pass the truck after several vehicles passed us on the left. As soon as I started to change lanes, the cruise control shut itself off and the car started to slow down with several more cars now right behind us in the fast lane. Once we were past the truck and back in the slow lane, I tried to re-engage the acc, which refused to turn back on. It only gave a beep and showed an icon on the display that said acc was off. (it was not off). The acc would only start working again after we had gotten off the freeway and stoped the car. On this same trip, the acc turned itself off, on about 6 or 7 different occasions. There was also a time when I was following a vehicle with acc on, following at medium distance, and another vehicle sped past me on the left, and darted between our car and the one we had been following, and continued past that vehicle on the right side. As this other car passed between us and through, our car suddenly sped way up, forcing me to slam on the brakes so we wouldn't rear-end the vehicle in front of us. At this point, I do not trust the acc, or any of the advanced driver assistance systems in this car, and will not be using them unless Honda makes some fixes. (and even then, I will be wary) prior to this trip, my wife was in the car, parked, with engine off, using the radio to listen to a pod-cast via her phone (plugged into the usb) and the car suddenly gave her a warning message that all of the driver assist functions were disabled, and to please see the dealer. We took it in, and they said there were known issues with some of the cameras and they would replace ours when they get one in. They still haven't got one in, however, everything started working again on it's own after the dealer had looked at it.

9 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/28/2022

At random times under all driving conditions, the cruise control will shut off. There will be an alert sound without any subsequent information and the car will start decelerating. The system cannot be re-engaged until after the car comes to a complete stop and the engine is restarted. There are many reports of this on Honda forums. . Read more...

10 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2021 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/27/2022

Car will randomly hit the brakes when adaptive cruise control is on. It will hit the brakes even though it doesn’t detect anyone in front, it will slow down a good 10-15mph before speeding back up.

11 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/19/2022

While driving on a interstate highway with adaptive cruise control enabled the adaptive cruise control system unexpectedly disabled itself. I was in the process of passing another vehicle, it was sunny and clear and suddenly I heard a long beep and the vehicle started to slow down. I briefly looked at the dashboard but see any warning but noticed acc was off. Once it was safe again I attempted to re-enable acc but the system refused saying acc was off. At the next rest area I stopped and shut off the vehicle, only after that I could use acc again. It's unknown if any of the other Honda sense features were disabled but this unexpected behavior is a concern. . Read more...

12 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/16/2022

In a few different events I have had my 2022 Civic but emergency brake with no object in front of me and pull me out of the lane instead of steering me in lane. I have provided Honda with video and picture evidence and they can't seem to do anything to fix it and I can no longer comfortable use those features and feel safe driving the vehicle.

13 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/01/2022

While driving on a freeway, the cruise control will beep and then automatically and abruptly turn off and it will not turn back on. To turn it back on I have to pull the car over and, sometimes, turn it off and turn it back on to get the cruise control working again. This has happened multiple times and the frequency is about 2 times a week.

15 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/08/2022

Cruise control shuts off while on interstate without any warning. Have taken to dealer and no codes and unable to reproduce. Happens every commute on interstate. Have to stop car turn of ignition and then works again. No warning lamps, messages. Honda aware of situation and not offering fix. Car has less then 1500miles.

16 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/03/2022

Purchased vehicle 1/31/2022 from dealership with only 5 miles on it. While driving to work 2/3/2022 cruise control was set, came behind a vehicle and when switched lanes to pass. Cruise control turned off and decreased speed rapidly and was unable to restart system. Almost was rear ended by traffic behind me. Called dealership and they said to bring it in to see what is going on. Confirmed issue with cruise control was told that it would "be a while to get fixed" it is now 5/12/22 and the part has not even been ordered and I am unable to use cruise control as I dont know when it will quit working and even when I turn off the vehicle it will not work for several trips after the car is turned off.

17 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/23/2022

My cruise control will randomly shut off and deactivate when I'm on the highway. It has almost caused me to have accidents due to the sudden deactivation and cars traveling behind me. I am unable to reactive my cruise until I come to a complete stop. This has happened to me since the day I have had the car and it happens sometimes serval times a day, or not at all. It is completely random when it happens. I have had my car in the Honda shop a couple of times and they are unable to figure out the cause or the problem. I am a home health nurse and rely on my car and cruise control and I'm worried about my safety because of this malfunction. I have looked online and there are a lot of discussion groups with the exact same thing happening in their 2022 Civics.

18 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/20/2022

Vehicle purchased new from Honda dealership in yuma az in June of 2021. Within 2nd day of ownership, the cruise control abruptly shut off causing a safety risk of driver's behind me coming close to rear end collision. The cruise control has abruptly and without warning has randomly shut off over 40 times since then. Vehicle has been taken in for repair 4 times with no resolve. Honda tried adjusting brake switch on first repair attempt, did not fix the issue. Second and third attempts the dealership replaced the srs module and the brake switch. Drove vehicle for 800 miles, then the issue arose again, causing the car to immediately slow, causing others behind me to have to brake quickly putting me at risk of rear end collision. Opened a case with american Honda, case number12509879. American Honda and the dealership states "they can not fix the issue until they actually see it for themselves acting up", which it does not act up when they drive it. I have many, many videos of the cruise control randomly shutting off and me being unable to reengage the cruise control. The only solution so far is to pull off the roadway, shut the car off, restart it, cruise will activate then. . Read more...

19 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/19/2022

While driving on hwy to work the automatic high beams would go to low followed by the automatic cruise control would cancel with a warning stating it was unavailable. It did this three times on the way to work in the morning and once in the afternoon going home on the same day, one of the times it would not let me turn acc back on stating it was unavailable. The following day it happened again on the way to work in the morning.

20 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/15/2022

Driving car on I-76 in pennsylvania. Speed set to 72 mph. Passed a truck and the cruise control shut off without warning and would not restart. This posed a risk to me because I had just completed a pass of a truck and started to slow without my knowledge. This resulted in the truck catching back up to me on a curve - a dangerous situation (a truck would never pass on the right, let alone in a curve. ).

21 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/15/2022

Driving the vehicle on the interstate and cruise control will randomly turn off and I cannot turn the cruise control back on until I pull over and put the vehicle in park. I feel it is unsafe to have to pull over on the interstate and put the vehicle in park to be able to use cruise control. This is the only fix to the issue right now, so when I am on a long trip, I have to pull over so I know I can maintain a safe constant speed.

22 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/08/2022

Was driving on the interstate at approximately 75 mph. Randomly the cruise control stopped keeping speed. Someone was on my tail when it disabled and could not get it to re-engage. The dash said the cruise control system was still enabled, but would not allow me to set the speed. I'm reading on online forums about several other drivers of this particular model vehicle are having this same issue. When trying to set the speed, it beeped 3 times. Turning off the car and back on re-enabled the cruise control.

23 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/05/2022

Adaptive cruise control will shut of randomly and for no reason. Must wait for it to re-engage adaptive cruise control or power off/on vehicle. During this time the auto high-beam feature is not useable.

24 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/01/2022

Since day one of purchasing the vehicle which now has 6000 miles on it the cruise control intermittently drop out and you cannot reengage it unless you pull over turn off the car and restart the car.

25 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/20/2021

While driving on the interstate both adaptive cruise control(acc) and regular cruise control have disengaged on multiple occasions. Once this occurs the cruise control will not engage regardless of whether I try acc or regular cruise control and I receive a message "cruise control off" and a beep when I try. The only consistent solution seems to be to turn off the car and turn it back on. There have been multiple instances where the system disengaged while I was between other vehicles and my safety was definitely at risk due to a sudden change in speed without a logical traffic reason. I have not had the vehicle inspected by a dealer because this only occurs very randomly(5-10 times in 12,00 miles) and to reproduce it would likely require hours of driving. I am only able to speciically list one date that I know that this problem occured while my friends and I were on a 12 hour road trip back from watching an nfl game. Thankfully I was driving and was already aware of the issue and quickly accelerated away from the 18 wheeler that was tailgating dangerously close behind me. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

26 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/15/2021

The cruise control turns off by itself while driving and cannot be turned back on without restarting the car. It can put others at risk because of the unexpected speed change. The car has 800 miles and it has happened 3 times so far. No warnings or lights occurred prior to it shutting off. . Read more...

27 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/06/2021

My 2022 Honda, VIN 19xfl1h87ne004420 when in cruise control mode either adaptive cruise control or regular, cruise control mode intermittently shuts off. The automatic headlight diming function also shuts off. There are no messages, warnings or codes associated with it. Attempting to reset the cruise does not works and the car beeps when it is attempted. The only way to reset cruise control is to stop, place the car in park or stop, place the car in park and turn the ignition off and restart. The issue is that when in traffic on the interstate, when cruise shuts off, operator (me) may not necessarily se it when it happens. As the car slows unknowingly, vehicles behind may run in to the car or create unnecessary congestion. The dealer asked if I could video this and I did. The video was after it shutoff and my attempts to reset it. I provided this video to the dealer and they indicated that it was useless, though it was requested by them. I have had my car at the dealers' service center 3 times now and they could no replicate the issue. However the issue occurs intermittently and usually on long (50 miles or more) interstate drives which they have not performed. The issue started within 1 week of purchasing the vehicle. The environment that this occurs in has always been clear, no inclement weather, sometimes in traffic and others when isolated.

28 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/01/2021

Cruise control (either in adaptive cruise control or regular) disengages randomly and if you attempt to restart the cruise, the cruise control will not work. The cruise control icon will appear on the center display and beep, with the words "cruise control off", to get this working again, the only way I've found is to stop the car and either put it in park and/or shut off the car or turn it back on. The problem seems to happen at random, and so the dealership at this point can not help me. This does not seem to be an isolated incident as others have been posting online about the exact same issue. . Read more...

31 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2005 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 09/02/2021

I purchased this car from a Honda dealership used for over 7 thousand dollars in 2021 it's a 2005 car with known issues. I drove it for less than 2 months before it overheated without an indication by the gauge that it was overheating and blew a head gasket. It was acting funny before it happened I brought it back to the dealership a couple times they charged me several hundred dollars to do nothing besides diagnosed it and told me nothing was wrong with it. Obviously there's plenty wrong with a car I'm just finding out that the battery is probably going to die really soon and I had to pay a mechanic to put another engine in it and paid another 2 thousand dollars. Now the transmission is completely gone and I have to figure out how to come up with more money to fix it while I'm out of work because of this I should have done better research before I bought this car but why aren't there any lemon laws for used cars just purchased from dealerships in a lot of states florida only has one if it's a brand new car very unhelpful and unfortunate for me right now that a multi billion dollar company can do this to me and leave me broke without a car and out of work knowing they sold me a car that was going to have multiple failures really soon luckily I wasn't on the highway when my engine died or after I replaced the engine and the transmission died or it could have been dangerous my advice is don't trust anyone and good luck in this country with transportation gas is $4 a gallon only reason I bought this car and it was a bad idea to say the least I thought buying from a dealership wouldn't leave me completely broke and broken down . Oh and the cruise control malfunctioned once scared me to death on the highway almost caused me to crash into the car ahead of me.

32 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/31/2021

After driving anywhere from 20-30 minutes my car’s cruise control feature experiences a bug. From my experience while the vehicle is in cruise control the cars system will make a low tone elongated beep and the cruise control system will stop working. As the vehicle is in motion and attempting to engage/set the cruise control feature the hud alerts that the “cruise control” needs to be on/active. No matter how many times you deactivate and activate cruise control the system will not allow you to set any desired speed because it perceives the cruise control feature as “off”. The only fix I’ve found is to come to a complete stop or park and restart the vehicle. I’m not the only person to experience this. The photo uploaded shows the hud telling me that the acc is off when it is in fact on. However the system will not engage and set the speed. Yet, I hope I have offered the most details. My suggestion is to rewrite the coding/update for the cars system to detect the cars cruise control feature. Or implement a double click which overrides/automatically turns the cc feature on and sets the desired speed.

33 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/06/2021

Every time I drive at least 30-35 miles I get the mitigation, collision and acc problem ive taken the car to Honda 3 times and they are not able to figure out the problem. I've paid for them to recenter the radar sensor but that didn't work now they are requesting I replace radar for $1,500. This car has 40,000 miles on it why am I having issues already? once I turn the car off the error message leave but once I get to the 30-35 miles it comes back up.

34 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2020 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/01/2020

When driving at highway speeds with adaptive cruise control, vehicle will slow down or brake without any object/vehicle ahead. This usually occurs at curves, with no vehicles in current lane. I would then need to immediately step on the acceleration in order to continue highway speeds. This may cause unnecessary stress on the vehicle due to constant issue occurrence. At times, a blinking warning message from the emergency braking system will appear on the dashboard during these conditions. This causes a safety issue because cars in the back will not expect braking/slowing down when there isn't any obstruction from all perspectives. This is dangerous on the highway due to the increased driving speeds of surrounding vehicles. I have not taken it to the dealer due to the vehicle being out of warranty, however it has always had this issue. Vehicle was bought new at dealership.

How do I fix Adaptive Cruise Control Honda?

In order to reset Honda's ACC system, simply press and hold down the interval button (vehicle with four bars behind it) for approximately one second and Cruise Mode Selected will appear in the instrument panel. Press and hold the interval button again to reset the Adaptive Cruise Control feature.

What does Adaptive Cruise Control problem mean?

ACC automates responses in situations that would have otherwise required action on the part of the driver. Without required driver intervention, the technology can reduce driver discomfort and fatigue more than standard cruise control while safely maintaining distance from vehicles ahead on the road.

Why is my cruise control not working Honda Civic?

The most common reasons a Honda Civic cruise control isn't working are failed control module, sensor or switch issues, or throttle actuation problems.
