Step 1: Check if your phone is compatible

Note: Don’t let GSM vs. CDMA scare you. Technically, these acronyms denote how data is converted into the radio waves that your cell phone sends/receives. Different carriers use different technologies, so the difference between you using an Access Code or SIM card in our BYOP program basically depends on your carrier.

On Android the most common path to finding your number is: Settings > About phone/device > Status/phone identity > Network. This slightly differs on Apple devices, where you can follow the path of Settings > Phone > My Number.

An upgrade is when you wish to transfer your phone number and benefits from one Straight Talk device to another. To upgrade, go to www.straighttalk.com/Activate. Select "Activate or reactivate my phone with a number transferred from another Straight Talk phone" and then select "Continue."
