Feb 21, 2015 (Edited) I'm thinking of having my 2000 Sport painted, I'm doing the body work and removing fenders, mirrors etc.. It's white and he will be painting the entire jeep with base coat and clear coat. Anybody have an idea what it may cost? Joined May 20, 2009 · 305 Posts
too many variables I'd say. How good of a paint job do you want? Are you doing all the body work like block sanding etc? Maaco paint jobs can run from 250 on up. Show quality can be several grand or more. Joined Jan 21, 2007 · 393 Posts
2 stage average paint which most body shops use will run about $400. Now add labor for primer and block sanding and spraying. I'd say another grand. Joined Feb 16, 2015 ·

Makes a big difference if you're changing colors too. Have to paint inside door jambs, underside of hood, etc. Most good painters want to do their own prep work to avoid complaints with the job after it's done. To have a "good" job done I'd bet you're looking at $2500 and up. May want to consider replacing rubber seals at this time too. Really a lot depends
on just how nice of a job you're after. Many times a cheap paint job looks just like what it is. Joined Feb 27, 2004 · 156 Posts

Im restoring my TJ now and Ill spend 400 on materials ....... Joined Oct 25, 2011 · 1,846 Posts
I probably had a little more than 400 into the rustoleum and monstaliner I put on mine. This was including a cheap gravity sprayer, several quarts of paint at $10 each, the monstaliner kit, thinner, and other stuff like tape. I still need to touch up alot of areas like around the hinges and rusty bolts I decided to reuse. I'd skip the base/clear for
cost reasons alone. Joined Aug 27, 2009 · 1,780 Posts
It's a jeep. Prettiness is least priority. Joined Aug 3, 2014 · 6,064 Posts
I've seen dwsuttun's restoration on the Redneck Garage youtube. I think he's spent enough on supplies for a brand new jeep! Of course the hobby aspect and social benevolence of his work is priceless. Really helped a lot of people! Joined Jun 27, 2017 · 59 Posts

quotes to repaint my CJ (staying with black) and waiting on a 3rd. The self-prep/Maaco option is looking REALLY good to me right now. It is a jeep. I don't want a deep candy apple finish or some sweet custom fade job. Regular black will work just fine. Joined Oct 8, 2012 · 30 Posts Joined Aug 3, 2009 · 686 Posts

Rhino line it and forget it Yep! Put in as much effort as you would for a good paint job, and then pay to cover it with something that looks worse than the worst paint job ever. Pass. Hoss

If I had a trail only vehicle, rhino line or similar would be a perfect option, both inside and out. However, it does get dirty and still needs to be washed to look decent. Best of both worlds is a nice paint job with a clear bra wrap to protect against rock chips and branch pin striping. Joined Apr 19, 2013 · 173 Posts

My LJ was $4,000 for a 100% full tear down and repaint including the hard top. This also included the final installation of a couple Metalcloak items.(I had them started, but said "**** it, I'm exhausted.") My MJ was $500 and I did it myself with Hot Rod Flatz paint. The quality of the finish is just as good as the professional job on the LJ.

I have gotten two quotes to repaint my CJ (staying with black) and waiting on a 3rd. The self-prep/Maaco option is looking REALLY good to me right now. It is a jeep. I don't want a deep candy apple finish or some sweet custom fade job. Regular black will work just fine. I pulled the trigger and put some money down at Maaco. I opted for the "premium paint" package, which is a two-stage application that includes a glossy finish coat, color matched Sherwin Williams urethane Ultra7000 paint, and a matching SW urethane sealer. It comes with a five-year warranty. Included in the $1400 (with tax) cost is the prep, filler, mask, primer, paint, and sealer. I agreed to pull the spare tire, fender flairs, front bumper, winch, mirrors, front window (so it could all be spayed at once), and trim pieces. In doing so they are not going to charge the fee for the extra hood prep due to lots of oxidation and will fill all rock chips. I might drill the original soft-top snaps out and fill/float/sand myself though. Joined Sep 2, 2011 · 2,080 Posts

I took my `82 Wagoneer to a local hot rod resto shop in AZ for an estimate. No rust, one minor ding. Very straight body. They wanted $12k. Yes, twelve thousand dollars to repaint a Jeep. I told them it wasn't going to Barret-Jackson or anything, just wanted a decent paint job. They said no body shops in the area did non-insurance paint work and they were
the only shop that did, except Maaco. Ended up selling the Jeep. Joined Mar 29, 2005 · 11,084 Posts
I'm restoring a '55 chev 2 door post that I inherited from my father-in-law ; it's blocked and gapped, ready for paint. I've talked with 6 different shops, and at least 4 other people in the business. This is a driver, and I'm looking for a driver quality respray. EVERY place and person I've talked said the EXCACT same thing; 'a paint Job is a
MINIMUM of $10K. Most are close to $15K' They are all dead serious. Every single person, every single shop will not do a paint job for less than 10K. Its effing ridiculous. It also seems to be the industry standard around here now. The paint and primer alone are $1200...What's a boy to do? :dunno: I too look forward to seeing your macco I job when finished. -I've actually seen them turn out some decent work. Their prep work typically sucks, but sounds like you have
that handled yourself. Hoss How much is it to get a jeep painted a different color? For the most part, this will most likely cost from about $500 for lower quality work, up to $3000 for very high quality paint finishes.
How much does it cost to paint a Jeep Wrangler YJ?If you are going to just drop it off and want a new paint job, expect it to be in the $3500- $5000 range. If you do all the body and sanding work and just want it painted, then you can probably get it done for around $1000-$1500.
How much does painting a Jeep Cherokee cost? For a decent job with body work you're looking at $3-5000. The paint itself runs several hundred dollars.
Can you repaint a Jeep? So, with a little help from some friends, we'd say that painting a Jeep over a three-day weekend is totally possible, and with Summit's pro-quality paint that applies well, mixes well, and has a low price point, there is no reason why you can't paint your Jeep at home as well and get great results.
