This is a video tutorial on how to change your background in google chrome to an animated gif.

Sign into your Google Account.
Find an animated gif file you want to use as your background.
Change the file extension from .gif to .png by right clicking on the file and selecting "Properties"
On the Google Chrome browser, click on the plus sign next to your tab at the top.
Select the pencil icon in the lower right corner.
Under the "Background" section, click on "Upload from Device" and select you image from you computer.

Customize the wallpaper displayed when opening a new tab in Google Chrome by configuring an animated GIF there.

When opening a new tab in Google Chrome, the displayed page is very gloomy. Depending on the native theme used, you end up with the search engine displayed on a simple white background or on a dark background. Yet Chrome offers an option to customize this background by changing the color, or by choosing to display a still image predefined or downloaded from your computer.

But this customization option goes much further, since it is also possible to display an animated GIF there with a little trickery. Here’s how.

1. Upload your GIF file

Start by going to the search engine (or elsewhere) to find the GIF you want to display as your Chrome wallpaper. Select one that is, preferably of good quality. Then open the GIF in the browser, right click and choose Save As.

Change the save format of the GIF file by adding .PNG to the end of the file name (1) and click the Save button (2). Then validate your choice by clicking on Use PNG (3).

2. Customize Chrome’s display

Now that your GIF is saved, open a new tab in Chrome and click the Customize button at the bottom right of the window.

Click Import from device, and select the GIF file you just saved in PNG format.

If everything went as planned, the background of any new blank tabs you open in Google Chrome should display the animated GIF you submitted to it.

Go to https://images.google.com
Search for the GIF you want to download and use as your background in Chrome.
Once the results are shown, select Tools just under the search bar.
In the new menu that appears, select Type then GIF.
Find and select the GIF you want as your Chrome background.
In the GIF preview that appears, right click the GIF and select Save image as.
Before selecting save, add .png to the end of the name of the gif. Save the GIF to your device.
Open a new tab in Chrome.
Select the pencil in the bottom right of the Chrome new tab page.
In the customize this page menu under background select Upload from device.
Select the GIF you downloaded from Google.
You have now set a GIF as your background in Chrome.
