Figured with the wide variety knowledge, somebody might have the answer. Looking for a way to remove signage/etc. stuck up with foam tape. IIRC, someone told me what to use to dissolve the tape & adhesive WITHOUT hurting the painted sheetrock wall, but can't remember what it was.
Any experience welcome! RatLabGuyYou look like a monkey and smell like one too
Goo-gone will probably do it.
The problem is that stuff would soak through it. I've had luck with ice to make it hard enough to cut with a razor and then shave it down to nothing.
Are you concerned about the paint, or just the paper covering the gypsum? Both... previous attempts to get it off resulted in peeled paint & paper! With GBG/Goof Off, it will soak into flat satin finishes and leave a stain... already been there. Hopefully,
the swap to 3M "Command" adhesives will negate this going forward... after we get all the rest peeled off.
Magic eraser from Mr.Clean does wonders.....Might try that
I hope you have a better time than my wife. She redid our bathroom, the previous owners decided it was a good idea to wallpaper right on the sheetrock. So she had to pretty much reputty the walls after she got the wallpapaer off. That was a nasty job. And now eventually we will ahve to redo the kitchen and the previousowners painted over the wallpaper, which we think the wallpapaer was
then applied right over the raw sheetrock.
I have used vinegar to get sticky stuff off, don't know if it will leave a residue on the sheetrock though RatLabGuyYou look like a monkey and smell like one too
Actually, I've found the best solution is a nice framed picture put over that exact spot...
window cleaner with ammonia does well to remove adhesive. also, rosonol (lighter fluid) works. Not sure how well the paint will hold up to either one though
um.. good luck with that, I'd say tell Josh and Peanut to stop using foam tape on the walls, or is it the Phd's... come to think of it, I'm actually betting on the Phd's!
is it the Phd's... come to think of it, I'm actually betting on the Phd's! Ding, ding, ding! NEVER equate a degree with intelligence! How do you remove doubleSimply pour some acetone or nail polish remover onto the tape and let it soak for a few minutes before peeling the tape off.
How do you remove foam adhesive from painted walls?Dip a rag in an eyeglass cleaner that contains alcohol. Rub the alcohol into the adhesive to loosen it, but avoid spreading it beyond the adhesive because it may damage the paint. Continue to to rub until all the adhesive is gone. For stubborn adhesive, rub gently with a nylon scrubber and eyeglass cleaner.
How do you remove tape from walls without removing paint? After applying heat for three or four minutes, use the tip of a small knife or razor blade to lift a corner of the tape strip. Continue applying heat as you gently pull the rest of the tape strip away. To avoid pulling off paint, don't lift the tape straight out from the wall.
