How to remove recommended videos from youtube smart tv

On Android, the YouTube app has several alerts you can manage while mobile. Whether it's being notified when someone you subscribe to has a new video, or getting a reply to one of your comments, the app will make sure you don't miss a thing. But there's a new type of alert in the list: Recommended videos.

According to the YouTube app, Recommended videos are those that you might be interested in based on what you watch. Well, sometimes your YouTube history isn't an accurate depiction of your tastes. For example, if a friend links a video of something beyond your interest, you may watch it to be polite, but you also don't need to be reminded of it with app recommendations. Thankfully, you can disable these alerts within the app, here's how:

Step 1: Open the YouTube app and tap on the user silhouette near the top right. Make sure you see your profile here, otherwise you'll need to log in.

Step 2: Tap the overflow menu in the top right corner and head to Settings > Notifications.

Step 3: Toggle the switch next to Recommended videos. While you're here, check the rest of the notification settings.

Now you'll be free of random video recommendations based on the other videos you've watched.

I'm having a weird problem that I hope you can help me with. I watch YT on my LG Smart TV and am getting recommended videos that I absolutely do not want, and I can't find any way to stop getting those recommendations. These recommendations are sometimes from channels I have blocked and a couple of times from channels I have reported.

I'm using the YouTube app via the LG store which came pre-installed on the TV. The TV is a 2018 LG and the YouTube app is updated so I don't think there's a compatability issue.

The TV and my Android both use YouTube while logged into the same account. My first thought was to simply go out to my Android, find the videos in my recommended list over there, and click the three dots and choose "don't recommend channel." That doesn't work though because I am never ever recommended these specific videos on my phone. These videos that I don't want are only recommended to me on the TV where I have no option to click "don't recommend" or anything similar.

Further, on a couple of occasions the videos recommended on my TV were definitely against the TOS and absolutely illegal in my jurisdiction. I reported the accounts, blocked the channels, removed the view of the video from my watch history, but yesterday I had videos from one of those accounts recommended to me again. That's what spurred me on to ask for help here.

When I reported and blocked those channels, I did so from my phone because I can't do it via the TV app. Just adding that info in case it might be helpful in diagnosing the problem.

My attempt to contact Google about this has gotten no reply.

By the way, this is a repost of something I posted a few hours ago, I didn't put a tag in the subject line and also forgot some info so I thought I would try again, I hope that's okay. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.
