How to unlink gmail accounts on pc

If you want to unlink two Gmail accounts, you must be referring to a third-party account (e.g. Hotmail) with a link to your Gmail account. How do I separate email accounts in Gmail?

You can separate two Gmail accounts in app settings on Android. As you already probably know, you can link third-party accounts to your Gmail account like Microsoft Outlook or Yahoo Hotmail and get all emails in Gmail. With some tweaks that include forwarding, you can add any email account to your Gmail app. However, you can’t link two Gmail accounts, only forward one to another.

So, how would one go if they want to remove those accounts? It’s actually pretty simple and you can unlink accounts in the Gmail Android app without the need to use the web client. However, if this includes forwarding, you’ll need to use your PC or use the desktop mode in an Android internet browser.

Here’s how to unlink accounts in Gmail:

1. Open the Gmail app on your phone.
2. Tap on the hamburger menu in the top left corner and then open Setting from the bottom.
3. Select the account that’s linked to the account you want to remove.
4. Finally, scroll all the way to the bottom and tap Unlink account.
5. Choose to keep or delete copied emails and tap Unlink.
   
6. After that, you can also tap on the 3-dots menu in Settings and select Manage accounts. There you can remove all accounts you don’t want to see in your Gmail app.

On the other hand, if you want to remove a Gmail account linked to a different Gmail account, you need to use Gmail on the web. Preferably, you would do it on your PC. Here’s how to separate two Gmail email accounts:

1. Open Gmail Web client, here.
2. Click on the cog icon to open Settings and select See all settings.
3. Choose the Accounts and Import tab.
4. Under “Send mail as” you can click Edit and remove secondary emails that are listed there.
5. Under “Check the mail for other accounts” remove secondary accounts.
6. Now, open the Forwarding and POP/IMAP and remove the forwarding address.

Your 2 separate Gmail accounts can receive the same emails if you set up forwarding or imported emails. Check Gmail on Web > Settings > Accounts and Import and Forwarding and POP/IMAP to find the setting and disable it.
