Voyageurs National Park offers beautiful undeveloped scenery! If your looking for a different experience compared to your usual Lake Of the Woods or Red Lake trip this is it. No crowds, remote houses, beautiful scenery and wonderful customer service. Reef Runner Rentals where your a name not a house number!

How to setup your rods for Lake Kabetogama!
When fishing Lake Kabetogama in the winter 2 rods can be used. Set one rod up as a dead stick by using a slip bobber rig and a couple of split shots a foot up from a number 6 live bait hook. Tip the hook with a minnow hooked 3/4 towards the tail on the upper body. Set your bobber stop so your minnow is 4 inches from the bottom. On your second rod we typically use a jigging spoon. Spoons such as buck shot jigs or Charmers made by Toms Tackle. These lures have a treble hook on the bottom of them. Pinch a minnow in half and use the tail or head on the treble hook. 6 pound monofilament line with your drag set right will to the trick! Another tip is to put a swivel about 2 feet from your spoon, this will help with line twist. Tie spoon directly to line. Jigging and watching your electronics will greatly increase your odds of catching fish!

How thick is the ice on Lake Vermilion?

Lake Vermilion hard water season is here, with ice ranging anywhere between 5 to almost 8 inches, but there is still some variability based on location so use caution.

Where is the best fishing on Lake Vermilion?

1. During the fall, narrows and pinch points become hotspots for walleyes because the predators are keyed to ambush spots where they can attack schools of baitfish in a confined area. Try fishing the mouth of Stuntz Bay in the lake's Tower End, especially the north end of the hole at its mouth.

How many walleyes can you keep on Lake Vermilion?

There is currently a protected slot of 30″-40″inches, with one fish allowed over 40″. All northerns of 30-40″ in length must be immediately returned to the lake. Bag limit is 2 fish.

Is Lake Vermilion hard to fish?

Lake Vermilion is a good lake even though some anglers report the fishing can be tough here. It's a big lake and there are plenty of fish here. Once you figure out the patterns, you should be able to catch smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, muskie and crappie if you choose to target them.
