Thrifty car rental orlando international airport reviews

Original review: Oct. 27, 2022

On Oct 8 2022 my wife rented a car from Thrifty in Chicago. After telling the agent several times she was not interested in insurance, he included it anyway resulting in an overcharge. After reviewing the rental agreement I find no place to decline the insurance charge. Why the insurance was included in billing we do not know. We only know for sure my wife told the agent several time she did not want the insurance.

We had the most awful experience ever with the Thrifty Car Rental at the LAX on Friday evening. We were shuttled over from LAX and when we went to pick up our rental car, the agent said it would take 1.5 hours. Instead after 3 hours, still nothing ready for us. In fact, folks that were there longer than us, some, began yelling and screaming for their car. And when we began asking why it was taking so long, we discovered they were holding our cars for Gold Members who weren't even there yet. Eventually I was able to get a car after going over to the Hertz counter and a kind agent provided us a rental in substitution of Thrifty. I will never rent from Thrifty EVER AGAIN! I would recommend anyone traveling to LAX and trying to rent a car, don't choose Dollar or Thrifty, instead use a different agency.

This company was terrible and sneaky!! I told them I DID NOT need insurance and they slipped in on my bill and told me I was signing a general rental agreement to learn after it was for insurance! I actually told the guy twice at the counter that my personal car insurance covers ALL rental costs and he verbally confirmed no insurance then. When I asked for a refund they refused because I “consented” to the insurance but the screen I signed on DID NOT say insurance it said rental agreement!

I will never use this company again! I had asked the guy at the time of return why the form he gave me said I was charged but he didn’t much speak English so he couldn’t help me and told me to “call” later and that was it!! Had I rented from Budget like I always sue they would have refunded me and made the issue right!

I booked through Car Rental 8. Thrifty in Austin, TX charged me for insurance and roadside assistance even though I declined both. Apparently this is a common occurrence with Thrifty as other reviews have remarked on the same thing. I would give Thrifty a 0 if such a score were possible.

I prepaid for my rental car through Priceline but when I got to the rental place they charged me for things I did not agree to. And would not even take a look at it or ask the representative about the agreement. They are a crooked company and I would highly recommend to not use them. I was charged an additional $275 on top of the $235 I had already paid. Shady company and even shadier employees.

I rented a car for 1 day on 8/23/22. My quoted rate, with taxes/fees was $111.54. My cc was charged $817.62. I called to inquire why the overcharge and received no information on the overcharge and was told nothing could be done. I disputed the cc charge and received a refund for the difference. I received a subsequent invoice for $706.08.

I called Thrifty again to dispute the overcharge. I'm now told they will open an investigation if I repay the overcharge. I explained I followed directions on choosing a car from the designated area. The gate guard checked my reservation and did not state any deviation of the car I rented. (I doubt they would let someone leave without a proper rental agreement.) No mention is anything wrong when I checked in the car on time. Thrifty CS threatened collections if I didn't pay the invoice. I have a perfect credit score and I'm essentially being blackmailed because of the erroneous charge. Who in their right mind would pay $817.62 to rent a Honda Civic for one day?! Avoid Thrifty! I will never rent from Thrifty or Hertz (same company) again!

I rented a vehicle from Thrifty Car Rental from 08-12-2022 to 08-15-22. I was charged $250.00 for keys that I didn't have. I contacted Thrifty car rental about the change. When I arrived on 08-12-22 I had a wait 3 hours to get my vehicle with no explanation.

The process of getting the car went smoothly and the car was satisfactory. One very big gripe is the way tolls were handled. We were in the Denver/Boulder Colorado area. The car had an EZ-Pass device on the windshield. We opened the sliding door to expose it before we passed through a toll sensor. It is no longer possible to pay in cash so the EZ-Pass was our only option. However, it apparently did not work and Thrifty sent a bill to pay a fine. This is infuriating in modern times where tolls should be automatic. Being told to go to 'THRIFTYRENTALFINE' is offensive and having to pay $60 for one trip from Boulder to Denver is obscene. Unless Thrifty cleans up their act, I will avoid them in the future. Meanwhile, I will add 'EZ-Pass device' to my packing list for future trips.

I showed up at the designated time at the LAX location of Thrifty and the rental agent said he had my reservation pulled up. However, he told me that the charge would be $430 for the reservation because they did not have the car I asked for and because he was adding on the collision insurance and all these charges that were not apparently on my original reservation. He kept saying "you need this" or "you need that." When I started to question why the price suddenly changed, he diverted the conversation without elaborating further. He also rushed me into signing the documents without going into detail about what the highlighted charges were. He also refused to speak to me, he kept directing his conversation to my partner who was NOT the one renting the car.

I felt that my right as a customer to be informed of my purchases was violated and that he was scamming me for commission. In addition, he was blatantly sexist where he outright refused to look me in the eye and SPEAK TO THE ACTUAL CUSTOMER. He kept trying to convince my partner to upgrade the car further, pointing to even more expensive rentals even though the reservation was not even in his name. I understand that selling these reservations is part of his job, but I believe he was completely out of line and believe he should be fired. I was also under the impression that this new charge of around $430 would include the original $276 that I had reserved through Priceline. He did not indicate that this was not the case even when I asked him directly. Did not realize the company ran with such deceitful policies for their employees.

Vehicle was fine but there is nothing “thrifty” about their rentals - more like shifty! with hidden/unexplained fees and blind signing of the “rental agreement”. Our costs were DOUBLE what was expected and customer service just sent a copy of the rental agreement and then stopped responding when I emailed for clarification. None of the additional fees were explained or shown to us prior to signing - and we were told by our on site agent that everything was pre-paid, that our credit card was being run for a hood in case of damages only, and then rushed through the process and told to sign the pad but not shown what we were signing FIRST. This was an unexpected and major budgeting blow to us at almost $1400 for 7 days.
