2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - Has a lot of kinks. This vehicle is sleek in style and comfort. I love the bells and whistles to be specific, as the air conditioned sears are awesome. On cold winter mornings, the heated seats come in great handy. There is an automatic start feature with the LTZ that comes I use greatly on hot days and crisp mornings. I love getting into my truck on a cold morning once the heater has been defrosting for a few minutes. On very hot summer days, starting the truck prior to entering is a great feeling and help. The truck is cool and refreshing even in 100-plus degree heat. Overall gas mileage is conducive with that of a full-sized truck. There is an option for E85 gasoline, but I have never used that cheap of gas. I am afraid of what it might do to my engine. This brings me to the cons of the vehicle. I have... (more) Show
We went camping last spring in Central Texas. This particular weekend there was a huge rain storm. When my buddies and I go camping, we want to get as far away from everyone else in the park. i.e. we take the roads less traveled. On top of the rain, the hills and slopes were awful with very tough terrain. The truck got me in and out just fine. The 4x4 is awesome in this vehicle. This is a beautiful truck. The bells and whistles are awesome. The gas mileage is good. The ride is great. The 4x4 works great. This feels like a luxury truck. Too many things go wrong with the computer. The service engine light is triggered by any little thing. The gas cap has to be screwed on tightly or your service engine light will come on. The radio is a little hard to operate. 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - Excellent truckThe 2014 Silverado 1500 Double Cab was the first model of a the new redesign. The redesign was excellent with great new lines and features—new grill, hood, body, interior—everything. The LTZ model have every option including Bose sound system, touch screen radio, heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, and special chrome accents. I tow a 6,000 LBS. boat from Muskegon, Michigan to Traverse City, Michigan (about 150 miles north). The trip is filled with two lane highways and lots of hills. The truck had no trouble hauling a 6,000 LBS. boat up long steep hills. I even passed slow moving vehicles in front of my on two lane roads several times and had no trouble at all. The new style meant there weren't as many of these vehicles on the road as the previous design, which was nice. The truck was much quieter than previous models. The double cab (which replaced the extended cab) was nice because it had four normal doors rather than the rear swing doors of the extended cab. I owned the vehicle for 40,000 miles and never experienced any rattles or noises inside. Other than recalls and standard maintenance, I never had to bring it in for service. The retooled 5.3L V8 also had about 50 more horsepower than the previous model and you could feel it. There were many recalls in the first two years. I suspect this was because it was a newly redesigned model. Fuel efficiency wasn't the greatest, but that's normal for a big truck with a V8.
