Show 4.0 out of 5 stars 2002 F150 door actuator replacement I bought the first one roughly two years ago when I got my truck and the stock actuator (passenger side) didn't function. The first actuator functioned fine up until about two weeks ago. Decided to order the same replacement due to availability and cost. When I pulled the actuator I noticed that the mechanical "arm" had sheared off which caused it not to work. Decided to shave down the lock "knob" in case this caused it to bind and break as a precaution. New actuator is in- works as it should, hopefully will last a bit longer. Word to the wise- plug the electronic connector in prior to installing the actuator on it's mount. Just one of Fords better ideas. Door got stuck shut in the lock position. Manually pulling up on the lock lever did nothing. The lock actuator was jammed. Replaced with oem and working good again now. For the price, can't complain though. Fit my 03 expo. The casting of the plastic was slightly different on the bottom for the harness to clip into so I just zip tied it out the way, but didn't affect the install n mounting or function.. For the price, can't go wrong. In most cases, a mechanic will remove the malfunctioning actuator and replace it with a functioning one.
How do you remove a door lock actuator?Use a trim tool or thin screwdriver to pry the switch plate (where the electric window and lock buttons are located) up and away from the door panel. Disconnect the wiring. Next, pry the door trim off the frame, starting at the bottom. The door clips need some encouragement, but will pop off.
