This air filter was purchased for my '07 MazdaSpeed6, which shares the same slot for the CX-7 air filters. Keep in mind what worked for me WILL work for you. This was a direct slide-in. No need to crunch or smush it in to fit, it's 100% perfect size.

Reason why I decided to buy this one, instead of a more known brand was simply because of the price. I figured I'd give it a shot, being it was less than half of what the next cheapest filter cost. If it was junk, i'd just buy the purolator, which seems marginally better.

When the package arrived, the filter itself was covered in decent shrink wrap in its own nice cardboard box. This made a difference because the air filter was fresh, clean, and didn't have anything squished to begin with.

After removing the old one (takes two minutes and a couple cuts on your hand if you try to pull out any residual junk you may have in the slot) and installing the new one, you'll be enjoying some pretty fresh air. Made a pretty significant difference to the scent of air in my car, which wasn't BAD but it smelled a little stuffy. After 50,000 miles I'd expect it to.

After owning it for about 300 miles now, the freshness is still there. It just smells like a clean paper. A very mild scent to it. The only thing that has bothered me a little is when I have my car idle and it's on intake from outside air. Sometimes the smell of the outside air and the mild "processed-cleanness" scent of the filter brings a little bit of a tingy stink to my nose. Very easily remedied by setting to recirculate the air.

I expect to continue to purchase this product fairly regularly. Only reason why I hadn't done it sooner is that NO ONE -- advance auto parts, pep boys, autozone, etc -- carries Mazdaspeed6 filters and extremely few stores carry CX-7 (again, they're the same filters, but no one even lists the MS6 filters at all, while the CX-7 are listed but extremely rarely stocked). Even then, look at the price for the other filters. Easily two to three times more. One day I may try out a Purolator, just for comparison on the scent of the air, but until then I'll stick to these guys ;)

PS: I'll update in another few thousand miles to see how this thing holds up.

Item arrived on time and fits like a glove. I purchased this on Amazon as part of a bundle pack with the engine air filter. This saved me a lot of money. Tires Plus wanted to charge 29.99 for each but the install would have been free. Nope! Did my research and saved money. It took me less than 5 minutes to put in. Prior to arrival I watched video, plus it comes with user friendly instructions.

Nothing to dislike here. Fits perfectly. Watch the install videos on YouTube, they're helpful. Watch more than one. When I removed the old filter, I tapped it on the ground facedown and sure enuf, lots of dirt and dust fell out. An inexpensive do-it-yourself fix that's worth doing... but, watch the videos.
