After starting my truck, my kids and I entered a few minutes later, we smelled a faint burning smell but seemed to have faded. Was told that's just how this truck handles. Wrong. Something is wrong. I was sent away again. Now close to 97000 miles have have a p0741code and told the transmission is bad and needs replaced. The vehicle is never been in an accident, has only had minor weight in the bed. Never towed anything with the truck, northern transmission is faulty and causing driving problems.

The " service trailer brake system" light has been coming on for about 3 yrs in my truck. I have asked the dealer about this, and all I hear is it will cost me about 0 just to find out what is causing this. I was also told I could clear this just by pressing the dismiss button, which I have been doing. I don't feel this is the way to fix the problem. While in drive thru or slow speeds in parking lot have lost braking power. Pedal just goes completely soft and sounds like abs activating.

I was driving on along wt harris highway and I attempted a turn along jw clay blvd. When my I pressed the gas and my truck didn't respond. I lost acceleration and it took a dangerous amount of time for me to cross the highway. There aren't any warning lights or a check engine light on, but my transmission has begun to slip gears. This is after I had over 2k work done at the dealership for other problems I was having. Since no warning lights were visible it came as a complete shock in the middle of traffic when I could not accelerate. I have had my truck inspected by aamco total car care and they have confirmed the problems and also the lack of warning lights or codes. After some research online I have found this issue common with chevrolet silverados manufactured between 2015-19.

Transmission issues. Brought vehicle to chevrolet dealership in wisconsin. Explained the the vehicle had a vibration and I thought if might be a tire. They indicated that it was the transmission fluid had to be changed. They change it and it was under warranty then. 10000 miles later the vibration is back. Brought it to a dealership in indiana and they informed me that the dealership in wisconsin put the fluid that was not the correct one. Now gm service wants 650 to fix the problem. Why didn't they correct this prior. They indicated they have done over 100 pickup trk like mine to fix the problem. Apparently gm dosen't want to take responsibility.

I was driving north on hwy 60 just south of the hwy 73 turnoff in arizona. It was a windy mountain road. I was approaching a vehicle from behind and took my foot off the gas and hit the brakes. Nothing - nothing. I started pumping the brakes to the floor - still nothing. I was able to adjust my position on the road and travel between the two lanes of traffic - one northbound and the other southbound. I did slightly clip another vehicle. My truck rolled into a stop several miles later. When I was almost at a complete stop - the brakes finally engaged and the vehicle stopped. From where I stopped - it was a flat drive into showlow, az and there was no cell service where I was. I drove at appx 40-45 mph with my emergency flashers along the right side of the road. The truck is sitting on my lot in lakeside, az and has not yet been taken to the dealer for service. Several things to note: I have no recollection of the incident after the initial brakes failed and I took corrective action. My next memory was rolling to a stop on the side of the road. Right after the incident, which driving into town, I suffered a stroke and drove to the hospital. I was released 24 hours later and have since returned to phoenix. The truck is still in lakeside awaiting repair.

We have a 2017 chevy silverado 55,883 miles on 9/27/22 we took truck in for oil change. Dealership states our truck “both upper control arms have play” repairs total cost 46 we are 65 years old, we do not go off reading. We feel like this issue is caused by insufficient welds in a recall, but our truck is not on recall list.

Low brake pressure at low speeds

Transmission related issue - per dealer diagnosis, the transmission on the vehicle need to be replaced due to 1st gear bumping/harsh, rough/chuggling & being delayed when shifting. Complete lost of 1st gear after reaching operating temperature. Sudden loss of acceleration and the vehicle stalling while driving on a busy the freeway is a big safety issue to both the driver and other commuters. Vehicle was inspected by the chevy dealership - alan webb chevrolet no warning lamps or messages showed prior to the failure. Just sudden lost of power while driving on the freeway.

Automatic transmission causing hesitation or stalling feeling when pulling into traffic. Also, now getting a shudder or vibration at variable speeds from 25 to 75 mph. Called dealer, known common problem with gm 8-speed transmission. Dealer suggested getting a transmission fluid flush and change. Trying to get that scheduled at this time. Doing an internet search, this seems to be a very common problem with these transmissions.

In my truck it goes from v8 to v4 and I want it to stay in v8 all the time. Also, I have 5. 3 engine, and cuz it goes into v4, that means that the back 2 lifters isn't getting enough oil, which can cause those lifters to lock up. I think those trucks that have that issue need to be recalled, cuz if the lifters lock up it can cause the engine to lock up and cause the truck to have an accident and possibly hurt a lot of people. Also, yes there are tuners you can buy to stop the v4 part, but who knows what they can mess up in the computer part.

Service trailer brake warning consistently flashing and dinging, every 1-4 seconds. Taking away my ability to see any digital read out on the screen, not safe to drive with this consistant relentless chiming and flashing on the screen. This issue has ready cost me a battery.

The vehicle shake when accelerating,decelerating, stalls when taking off,the losses traction when it does take off, jerks the vehicle when shifting up or down sometimes causing loss of traction, especially on wet roads. Has been taken to the dealer several times, tsb has been performed only gives temporary fix. I cannot allow anyone to drive this vehicle because it randomly looses traction. The dealer,mtn view chevrolet, has duplicated the problem in the past and performed a tsb that was not a permanent repair. This has been an ongoing issue since 2019

My brakes weren't working very good. And when I backed out my driveway I had no brakes at all and almost hit a vehicle. I took my truck to smith chevrolet where I bought it in turlock ca 95380. Upon arrival they checked it in an provided me a loaner vehicle. I purchased the vehicle with every extended warranty available.. I was within my warranties. I'm still in my warranty limit. I received a call and was told they need the loaner vehicle back for other customers. I asked if they fixed the issue. The service tech manager and service tech said there was no issue with the brakes. I asked if they got in the vehicle and tested it. They said yes. Problem is I knew they were lying. I arrived to the dealership and I met with [xxx] the general manager cause I had conflict with service manager and service tech. I asked a 30+ year mechanic named [xxx] landers to jump in the truck to test the brake. He said there's no reason the brake boosters are defected and should be replaced. But I insisted he still test the vehicle. When tested the vehicle had severe break issues. I was still left with no loaner vehicle and given my truck to take home with brake issues. Come to find out the service manager and service tech were fired. But [xxx] the general manager was the one that let me leave with my truck and no loaner vehicle. It has been a nightmare for a couple years now. I think outside of this I will seek a serious lawsuit against smith chevrolet and [xxx]. The brake booster is still not fixed. My 2017 chevy silverado lt z71 started shaking and jerking while I was traveling at 65 mph and almost caused an accident on I - 65 north. The engine light never came on until the truck lost acceleration after leaving the interstate and would not shift into other gears. I was able to get off the interstate at 30 mph while other vehicles are going past me 70 mph +. I stopped at a dealership and they checked the vehicle out and told me the transmission needs to be replaced at 00 with only 79,000 miles on the vehicle. I investigated online and realized other owners have been complaining about 6 and 8 speed transmission shaking and shuddering/jerking while driving. The dealerships have been flushing and changing the transmission fluid to stop the problem in 8 speed transmissions. The dealership the truck is at for repairs told me this. Gm knows this is a major problem with their transmission, and it appears they refuse to recall this safety issue. Owners will pull out in traffic or driving on the interstate and the 6 to 8 speed transmissions will sporadically stop shifting thru gears and start shaking and jerking the vehicle causing acceleration issues. Gm needs to fix this problem with their transmissions because it is a safety issue for the public. The dealership told me not to set the truck to the auto setting that operates the 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive setting, and to leave it at 2 wheel drive while driving because they said the vehicle will have transmission problems if you move the setting. Gm and the dealership knows this is a major problem and so does every owner. Hopefully, this problem will be addressed.

The service trailer brake system warning went off on a return trip from minnesota august 18. It chimed incessantly- probably every 5-8 seconds while driving. It was a huge distraction. I finally pulled over and pulled fuse #1 in the engine compartment hoping this would alleviate the chimes and now it only chimes every 3-5 minutes. I have never used the trailer brake system as I only trailer my boat without it.

My service trailer brake system blinked twice, not on at this time. I understand that this a on going problem. Please advise if you are going to make gm a recall problem. Thanks

In january 2022 the drivers seat belt latch broke in my silverado. The seat belt would not engage into the latch, there was an internal part of the latch that broke and prevented the seat belt from engaging. Obviously this is a safety issue in addition to my state having mandatory seat belt laws so I was unable to drive my vehicle. I contacted general motors customer service who said the defect was not covered under any warranty. I took the vehicle to the dealer I purchased the truck from and had the repair made. It cost 6. 97 for the dealer to replace the driver side seat belt latch. I followed up with general motors to see if the part had ben recalled or if they would pay for the repair to this integral part of the truck's supplemental restraint system. General motors sent me a check for . 97 which they said was a prorated amount towards the amount I paid to have the seat belt repaired. While there is no official recall of this part currently, there are many public forums where silverado owners have complained about this part of the supplemental restraint system failing. In my opinion a seat belt system should never fail, especially on a truck as new as mine and with such low mileage. My truck was purchased new, has been garage kept and has never been involved in any accident. The truck only had 44,400 miles on it at the time of the repair. I find it hard to believe that general motors would not cover the repair under the terms of the supplemental restraint warranty.

When towing rv the warning indicator “check trailer wiring” continually pops up and chimes and the trailer breaks continuously malfunction. This causes imminent danger to our family and others on the road as the trailer breaks malfunction and the continual chiming and warning lights take focus off the road.

1. I lost power steering, power breaks, all dash lights/power and I believe air bags. The truck is available for inspection. 2. The first time I was traveling at 65mph in moderate traffic, it was very difficult to pull over to safety. The second time I was traveling at 50mph on a very windy road with heavy traffic. I almost hit another vehicle head on with several vehicles traveling in both lanes. The last time I was backing into my carport and almost bumped I to my house. 3. No, I called onstar the first time, they did a system check and said everything was good. I called a dealership the second time and they confirmed I had no open recalls and explained it would be difficult to troubleshoot because it was intermittent. 4. I will be calling back to the dealership in the morning to make an appointment. 5. I got the audible chime, the airbag light came on and the "trailer break" message came on the info center. But everything goes back to normal.

Transmission and torque converter problem. Vehicle available. Transmission malfunctioning and sometimes violent vibration at highway speeds. Taken to dealership several times and charged a lot of money but dealer says even though they know they built them wrong they won't replace it. Vehicle inspected by dealership and confirmed. My truck has 57000miles has electronic steering. The steering will shut down and everything becomes manual. Steering error messages pop on the screen and chimes sound. This mostly happens at low speed, like stopping to back into a parking space. I've taken the truck to the dealership on two occasions, first time they " adjusted the module" for 1 hourly rate. The second time they reset the module and recommended a battery cable replacement. After replacing the battery cables and battery ( at a different repair shop) same problem. At 45, 000 miles the check engine light came on with error code p025e ventilation regulator valve performance, which is a common issue. This valve can leak oil on the catalytic converter causing smoking.

Bought new with only 48 miles in 2018. Within the first 10,000 miles started getting a service 4wd message. Dealership could not find an issue and told me it was a miscommunication between the transmission and computer. The message has continued to come on for several years. I have contacted on star to run a diagnostic on it when it comes on and everything shows to be okay with no codes showing up. Had a severe shudder in the front end at 75,000 miles which went away after servicing the transmission but the 4wd message still comes on consistently.

While driving the vehicle wont shift properly. As someone with a degree in automotive I checked the vehicle which has code p0741 in the tcm. I contacted gm regarding the problems with my vehicle and they agreed to pay a portion of the costs to repair if I had it diagnosed by a dealership. The dealer diagnosed it between them and gm they replaced the valve body. This did not fix the issue. The dealer found metal shavings in the transmission which it not a good thing. This transmission needs to be replaced. However, getting the dealer or gm to say or do this is not working. I am stuck with a vehicle that isn't functioning properly. I have talked with other dealerships and transmission repair shops which all agree that if metal was found the then the transmission needs replaced.

My main concern is my driver side seat belt the cable at the lower left side mounting broke in half while driving……. No accident or sudden stop I thought the belt had come unlatched

My service trailer brake system light comes on. This is the 2nd time that I have had to take my truck in for this issue. The first time it was fixed it lasted for about a year. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and the contact was provided an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the dealer's possession. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

No trailer hooked up and "service trailer brake system" appears. Will dismiss but the chime continues. Would believe this would cause an accident if equipped with a heavy load requiring trailer brakes. Will not be hauling anything with trailer brakes at this point.

Trailer brake system warning keeps flashing on my display even though I am not towing anything behind my truck. Now I am worried to tow my camper or my boat behind my truck do to this unknown issue, I was told by gm that it may have something to do with a cable assembly harness. I have only owned this truck for 8mos and I dont tow anything on a regular basis. What is going on?? I will get more info when I bring my truck back from gm.

Stabilitrac service light comes on and dash lights flicker for a second, radio sound cuts out a second, then power steering is lost until putting in park or restart of vehicle. Just like recalls for other silverado 1500s. Happens intermittently.

Reporting a common issue in gm vehicles. Trailer brake service signal digging on my 2017 chevy ltz. Constant digging. Causing distraction while driving, and takes an update to trailer brake modules to fix. This is a common issue, and people need compensated for the money they spent to fix something that is not their fault. This constant service reminder does not go away, and causes a distraction while driving, until the issue is fixed.

(1). Entire electrical failure. Initial investigation revealed negative batter post and cable extremely hot. The truck was operating perfectly and had just sat overnight. This issue was first detected about 1 month prior, when, after a 3 hour drive, I got and when I returned, there was "nothing". Disconnected battery cables, touched thwm together fo 30+ seconds and everything worked perfect. (2). The first event, I was in the middle of the arizona desert, almost 90 miles from the nearest population. (3), unable to intentionally reconstruct this problem. There was no check engine light. However - in the first event, the stabili-trak light illuminated and had to pull to the side of the road to apparently let it reset. (4). Took it into the dealer who simply stated "since there was no check engine light, it would be a waste of money, since I had driven it in". They did not take a formal report. (5). Other than the initial issue with the stabili-trak light, prior to the first incident, 2/12 hours later, there were no advanced warnings. In the 2nd event, the truck ran perfectly, parked it overnight and when I went to start it in the morning, nothing.

Pressing the brakes can cause the trailer brake system alarm to go off. Sometimes it causes the truck to die while I'm driving. Very dangerous. I have seen numerous posts online of the exact problem.

Trailer brake system is continuing to show a service warning on the dash. Noticed the problem when my battery kept draining over night. Then the service trailer brake system light came on and won't go away. I don't have any modifications done to the vehicle and I bought it used almost 6 months ago with 80,000 miles. The service light comes on every time you crank the truck. Gm service bulletins are reporting that it is a wiring harness that is defective. This should be addressed as a recall. It is unsafe to pull any type of equipment as well is causing my battery to drain over night to where I'm having to jump the truck off just to crank it

The stitching in the loop attaching the front center lap seat belt to the vehicle failed causing the seat belt to detach and become unusable. If this had not been discovered and the vehicle were in an accident with the front center lap seat belt in use, the seat belt would not have provided any protection to the occupant and could have resulted in serious injury or death.

The truck lurches forward at any given time while taking off with the truck. The rear end clunks too.

Brake pressure seems to lose the ability to stop wall at low speeds I have already taken it to the dealer to have a recall done but only a software update was done the problem is still there while braking in low speeds it triggers the abs and it's hard to break pedal gets really stiff

Torque converter failure, only 33k miles on vehicle. Had a load of dirt in bed of truck, while going home had too pull to side of road. Cause - truck shook violently almost lost control, thought someone hit me at first. While getting started again, noticed transmission was shifting funny but got home and symptoms went away for approx 2 months. April 16 while going for a drive on the highway, truck shifted down gears while cruise was set at 65mph the had trouble getting into gear so I pulled to the side and shut her down after I noticed a engine light come on. Luckily I had a scanner in my vehicle that I carry all the time and the code po741 came up. Torque converter and impellar, sensors,wiring issue. I called dealer immediately to set up apps and they came to same conclusion, torque converter,impellar,trans lines .

When driving at low speeds and trying to brake, my vehicle's brake pedal fades and fails to stop properly requiring increased stopping distance. This happens when pulling into parking lots, stopping at a traffic device, or in a drive through. There is a current recall for this exact problem that I am experiencing within my model year, however my vin number does not have the recall. The campaign numbers for this recall are 19v645 and 20v603. I want me vehicle added to the list so I can have it repaired by the dealer before an accicdent occurs. This event has occurred multiple times in my vehicle over the past 18 months/30,000 miles.

Hello- I'm constantly receiving a repetitive service trailer brake system chime while driving and/or in park which is very dangerous! The exact warning message that pops up on my screen constantly says: trailer brake system. I have 87,531 on my certificated pre-owned 2017 chevy silverado_redline edition. Extensive research leads me to believe that the wire harness in between two of the body control modules is detective! I truly believe that gm/chevrolet corporation should be held accountable in recalling the defective low quality wire harness on all 2017 chevy silverado's. Fuel injectors are misfiring. This has caused the shifting of gears to be rough. Also, when at a complete stop, then a small amount of force is applied to the gas pedal, a sudden jump forward will take place. Check engine light and the traction control lights have came on.

On 9/11/2017 I purchased this 2017 chevy silverado 1500 custom double cab truck. I owned it for over 7 years. (46000 miles) and garage kept since day 1. I noticed a lot of rust on frame and spair tire a lot . Also the paint on the body is chipping a lot. I did not have any problems with the lifter issue yet. But I feel as soon as it goes out of warranty I will have to deal with rebuilding my engine. Gm knows of this problem and not doing anything about it. It would be nice if this engine could be replaced with none of the afm parts and at no cost to me.

Transmission only has 74+k miles

The truck will shut off without warning and lock all doors. The key fob/manual unlock or door unlock button will not unlock the doors. There is no way to get out. This has happened 3 times in the last year

When you put the truck in reverse, the rear back up camera display is always extremely bright, regardless of the setting of the dimmer switch or automatic dimmer settings. This causes a safety issue at night when backing up, as the driver's night vision is completely diminished as soon as you put the truck in reverse. The display becomes so bright the driver loses their night vison and is also unable to use their mirrors.

While driving down the road, my transmission stopped working. I was on the highway while coming up to speed, my truck would not pick up speed and would not shift into gear. I had the vehicle towed to a nearby automotive shop, where they said there was internal damage to my transmission and recommended a new transmission or a rebuild. There was no warning or any warnings that the transmission was going to fail. It just stopped being operational. My vehicle only has 67k miles on it.

I went outside and started my truck as I normally do. After a few seconds of the rear defroster being on I heard a sizzling noise behind me. I turned around and could see white smoke coming out and filling the truck w smoke. I quickly turned the rear defroster off and then the truck. The whole component has melted for the rear deforster and rear power window. The truck has less that 60,000 mi. After a quick google search I learned this is apparently a known issue. This is an absolute safety hazard and needs to be addressed immediately. I shouldn't have to pay for a repair on the electrical wiring or faulty parts that were installed by the manufacturer.

The automatic transmission had major problems that required 00 in repair. I have 67,000 miles on vehicle.

I am the owner of a 2017 chevy silverado with a little under 50000 miles. I have had an issue with the computer system occasionally re-booting while driving. Also, on occasion, I will get a warning on my display for "trailer braking system" for a fraction of a second. I have mentioned this a several service appointments and inspections, but the dealership was never able to pinpoint the problem. On the morning of monday, february 28th, I dropped my children off at school, pulled up to the edge of the building and the "trailer braking system" warning flashed for a split second on my display. I proceeded to the stop sign. As I was making the turn into traffic, the computer seemed to have re-booted several times in the period of a few seconds. However, this time, my steering locked in place while making the turn, putting the front of my vehicle just over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic. The doors locked and unlocked several times, several chimes went off, the display flashed a few times, and then, after a couple of seconds, I was able to steer and pull back into my lane. I promptly called chevy support to report the issue, as I believed this to be an important safety issue that chevy would be extremely concerned with. I was disappointed to find that the operator was not interested in taking my information, she suggested that I contact the dealership for service, which I already was in the process of doing. I explained that I was calling to report a safety issue to chevy, not to merely complain, and offered my vin number. She reluctantly checked the last 8 digits of my vin number for known recalls and again suggested I call for service. Dealership said that my power steering module needed calibration updates. But, they are not sure that this will solve my issue. I see many complaints like this online and chevy is not proactively scanning for this computer issue even though it could be deadly in traffic, especially on the highway.

Gm already has a recall for brakes going out at low speed this has happened multiple times on this vehicle but there's no recall according to this vin, the second is the transmission shakes the entire vehicle violently at higher speeds, commonly known as the "chevy shake." multiple dealers refuse to look at the truck charging upfront fees and saying there's nothing wrong with it since there are no warning lights or other sensors on or reporting any errors, both problems have been recalled on similar vehicles just not for this vin #, a truck with no brakes can put many at risk

Ac condenser failed at 51000 miles due to poor weld! "this is a well known issue for gm 2015-2017 models". There has been a special coverage adjustment #17336-04 issued by gm for escalade,suburban,tahoe and yukon models but not for trucks. This repair should be covered by gm. The leaking of these refrigerants is toxic to people and the environment and highly flammable.

Warning light to secure vehicle against rolling with hand brake will not go away. Car is completely driveable.

Was involved in a t-bone intersection accident. The upper seatbelt tensioner on the passenger side of the my vehicle did not engage and and caused my passenger to strike the dash resulting in a badly broken arm (pins and plates to repair). The vehicle was a total loss was last located at the usaa lot in yorktown virginia. This information was relayed to the insurance company not sure what steps they have taken. There were no warning lights or know issues with the belt prior to the accident.

On 1/20/2022, my son & I were traveling I-80 east to nv. At approximately 130 miles, we noticed the engine was sputtering occasionally along the flat road. It got worse on a climb, but engine runs smoothly. It seems fine on a downhill, but on a flat road & on a climb the problem continues & was getting worse. We checked the spark plug connections to make sure they are tight & secured. After a brief refuel stop in elko, nv, we proceeded to travel again and at approximately 4:30 am 5 miles from elko, nv, the engine went to high revolution, oil pressure to the max, check engine light came on, and the speed suddenly reduced to 30mph, transmission will not shift/or could not go any faster. Things became scary as semi truck was barreling behind us at high rate of speed and we almost got rear-ended on an icy road. We exited immediately to the next exit (exit 314) and parked at a sinclair gas station and called for a tow. The truck was towed to riverton elko chevy dealer. We currently have the truck at a local mechanic in elko, nv for an upgraded transmission replacement. We chose to not use the chevy dealer as their quoted repairs did not seem ethical at the time. The chevy dealer was helpful after giving poor service and they did tow the truck to the local mechanic without charge to us. As per the mechanic this is a very common problem on this model.

At low speeds in like parking lots the brake pedal can not be push to stop the truck. There is a recall for this problem n192268490 but my vin # is not in the recall.

In the midst of rush hour traffic without any indication in a major interstate, 2017 chevrolet silverado 1500 lt lost power as the engine reeved up and then check engine light came on. Once vehicle was carefully moved from interstate with citizens to the service road, engine running but would go into gears (d, r, l) without any movement. Transmission issues (p0700, p0796, etc... From obd ii). Vehicle has had routine maintenance on all oils as scheduled.

I was in a drive thru yesterday and couldn't stop. I was traveling less than 5 mph, and the brake pedal was extremely stiff, I had to pump the brakes several times in order to stop the truck. At one point I had to place the truck in park in order to keep the truck from moving because the brake pedal wouldn't hold the truck still. It happened a few more times on my way home in slow traffic. I almost crashed once.

I picked up my truck from the dealership after repairs due to an impact with a deer. The vehicle was at the dealership for three weeks. After traveling less than three (3) miles, from the dealership, the brakes did not work properly/issue with the brake pedal and stopping. I was able to avoid an accident but had to park the truck and have it towed back to the dealership. Upon inspection, the dealership advised that the vacuum pump needed to be replaced. I know there is a recall for this part for the chevy silverado but my vin shows no recall so I am reporting this issue for my vin and hopefully this information can help another truck owner avoid an accident or injury. In the event the recall is expanded to our silverado model we would request reimbursement for the expense to replace the defective part. I have also contacted gm directly to report this issue and they are going to follow up with me regarding the matter.

Was driving for 25 minutes in the truck. Temperature outside was around 40 degrees fahrenheit. I did not know the rear defroster was on. My son who was in the back seat smelled smoke and said that the truck was on fire. I pulled to the side of the road and looked in the back and could see the rear defroster on drivers side was glowing and emitting smoke. I looked at rear defrost light and it was on. I turned the rear defroster off to prevent any more current from going through the wire. Once we were sure there was no more smoke or fire we got back in the vehicle. About 300 seconds later the window shattered. If my son was not in the back seat and smelled smoke the back seat could have caught on fire. Ran system check and found code p0796 performed test drive and found torque converter switch slipping-checked fluid in the pan found excessive amount of debris removed transmission and disassembled finding 4-5-6 clutch burnt mup and debis went through the valve body and tcm - bushings are also damaged from debris , 75400 milees on 2017 silverado truck

I bought my 2017 chevrolet silverado 1500 certified pre owned on 11/04/2019 shortly after I purchased it I started having problems with it. From brakes to lights. An took it in for the recall on brakes and steering. After that I've not had cruise control, and the stabilitrak warning light has been on. And just about a year ago while driving an pulling trailer, I lost communication to transmission, electronic brake, park assist, trailer brakes, ect. An was forced to stop! After taking it in to dealership to fix it, they did which lasted not even a month and done it again numerous times leaving me stranded. Now just last night 11/23/2021 while pulling my trailer, as I came to a stop sign I hit my brakes and all trailer brakes locked up bringing me to a stop (trailer brake on dash has been set on 0 since they haven't worked since purchased ) I had to unhook trailer wiring to make it home. As I took off I lost communication to transmission again and trailer brake system warning chime kept going off repeatedly, lost dash gauges, causing transmission to get hot. As it was stuck in a certain gear. Your defective wiring/ electrical system has fault and potentially caused a serious accident, and is going to cost me an enormous amount of money to fix. Also the torque converter has been acting up for a year, forcing me to purchase a tuner just to stretch the life of transmission. This vehicle is not safe to drive on highway! This vehicle is life threatening. Putting my life, my familys life and innocent peoples life's in danger! Problem needs resolved or reimbursement/ new truck. A ,000 truck should not be life-threatening. This truck has spent more time in a garage than on the highway. Solutions have to be done. Why pay for a ,000 truck you can't use or risk everyone's lives!

Lost all communication to transmission control module, electronic brake control module, trailer brake control module, broken can bus wiring, lost windows, can not drive!

On or around august 13, 2021 this vehicle was brought to triangle chevrolet in defuniak springs fl. For a recall on a loss of power assist braking. In the last 3 weeks or so I have had a loss of power braking at low speed drastically increasing stopping distance while also putting a tremendous amount of effort on the brake pedal, 2 times while going through fast food drive through, 1 time while manuvering around a gas pump to get gas. It acts like there is a loss of vacuum assist, and sometimes there is some vibration in the brake pedal as it the antilock brake system is activating. Did triangle chevrolet actually perform the recall? If so, did they do it correctly? , if they did , what is the remedy for this

I reported my vehicle stalling in the middle of traffic on 2 separated incidents. The dash lights turn off and on and the car stalls. But after having it serviced nothing was found this was in 2019 and 2020. Come 2021 my car stalled and locked in the middle of an intersection my truck is not more than 5 years old and I have it serviced at the dealership and they never saw this coming. My diagnostic check reads I need to replace 8 fuel injectors 00. 00

Several times when coming to a stop at low speed, the rpms stay at 1500 despite having foot off accelerator, requiring greatly increased brake pressure to stop or maintain stopping. Seems that the transmission does not downshift to low gear. Just bought vehicle used two days ago, happened three times today. This easily could have resulted in an vehicle or pedestrian accident.

Brake pedal is stiff when braking at highway speeds. At low speeds, brake feels as if the anti lock braking system is activated (grinding/slight vibration). In reverse, brake will go to the floor and not immediately stop vehicle. The pedal grinds like the abs is activated, however, no pulsing action. In addition, a trailer braking warning light registered.. I do not tow with this vehicle!! This vehicle has not been to an authorized dealer for maintenance as of this message. Vehicle has 40k miles registered.

The service brake assist came on and the brakes are acting funny at lower speeds. I see there was a recall for this very problem.

I keep getting the fuel injector codes and check engine light coming on in my truck. It does not say I am part of the recall but what gm describes in the recall happens to my atleast twice a week. My truck starts not being as usual and the check engine light comes on then I get the tested and now am getting the fuel injector codes at auto zone. I have to get them reset atleast once sometimes twice a week.

Driver complains of fuel smell. Upon inspection found leak from fuel pump outlet port. Replaced fuel pump to correct.

While attempting to turn left at an intersection, the power steering locked up after about 2 inches of turn on the wheel. I was forced to abruptly brake. Tried again, still wouldn't turn. Third try, it released. This could have resulted in a serious accident, as I was angled across the on-coming lane and stopped. If I had not braked, I would have went head on into a light pole. I listed my complaint on carproblems. Com, and there were dozens of complaints on this same steering issue associated with the 2017 chevy silverado, some resulting in accidents with injury.

Trailer brakes quit working, message displays service trailer brake system. Dealer did a diagnostic with scanner and could get no response. They say probably broken wire somewhere in system. Vehicle is still like new, low mileage. Dangerous having no trailer brakes could cause accident.

Warning on dash servive power steering

I had driven to work. While backing into a parking space at idle speed the brake pedal would not depress. It was hard as a rock. I nearly hit the building but was slowly backing up slightly up hill so my truck stopped on its own. I never had an issue with the brakes before this. Later in the same morning I drove my truck to the local dealership a few miles up the road and had no braking issues while driving there. Rather terrifying suddenly having no brakes!

In the last few weeks there have been five instances of the vehicle downshifting multiple gears at approximately 60 mph with a hard shift. The vehicle was in 2wd mode during all events. This occurred twice on wet roads and resulted in a momentary loss of control which I was able to recover when the rear wheels suddenly slowed and skidded. The vehicle was taken to brenegen chevrolet in onalaska, wi today. The dealer was unable to replicate the issue and charged me for diagnostic time. Vehicle mileage is 53k

My vehicles trailer breaking system keeps activating cause the brakes to activate. Additionally, it is activating my stabilitrak system and turns the vehicle off and on. These issues coralate with recall #19v761000.

The system that failed is the speedometer display and radio display while driving. This can be dangerous as I do not know the speed I am driving. This can also be dangerous as the display includes the screen for the backup camera that turns off without notice while backing up. The problem has happened many times in the 2017 chevrolet silverado owned by the company I work for. I own a 2015 chevrolet silverado and the issue occurs in it, as well. I notified the gm dealership where both vehicles were purchased and they said the screen could be replaced but would be very expensive. No warning lamps or messages occurred. The screen jumps around a lot and occurs at various times (morning, afternoon, warm or cold weather, etc.).

My engine went out while I was driving in the highway. The engine started ticking and I was instantly limited to 30mph with cars going highway speeds around me. No symptoms or warnings prior to that. Dealer said it was faulty lifters required for the afm module.

Brakes are hard to push and stutter at low speeds. I need to push hard on pedal to initiate the brake system.

I purchased a certified pre-owned 2017 chevy silverado on february 1st of this year, and over the last 4 months have put only 5,000 miles on it. On june 20th, on my way back from a 10-hour trip, where I was towing a trailer with a car on it, my trailer brakes suddenly stopped functioning (about 4 hours from home). Not only did the trailer brakes stop functioning, but a warning message popped up on the dashboard "service trailer brake system". But this warning message didn't pop up just one time, it kept coming again and again and again and again and again, relentlessly chiming and distracting me from driving, it covered my speedometer readout, it prevented me from receiving or making voice commands, prevented me from hearing phone calls, and prevented me from listening to music. The service warning chime also prevented the turn signal chime from functioning. So for a full 4 hours, I was constantly reminded with a service trailer brake system chime, was unable to hear my turn signal chime, was unable to listen to music or make a phone call, and was unable to see the digital readout of my speed. The vehicle had been rendered completely undrivable, and I absolutely will not hesitate to say that the vehicle was not safe to drive in that condition. Especially if you consider that I was towing 5,000 lbs with no working trailer brakes. Gm's defective wire harness endangered my life. Consumer stated wire harness has not been replaced and manufacture refused to honor cpo warranty.

Reverse lights and camera are out

Brakes are delayed and have a slipping feeling at times. Lights flash and wheel locks up, unknown problem, when vehicle is shut down and restarted problem resolves. Vehicle will not start due to electrical problem. Researched and found safety recalls precisely for the problems I am having on other models, my truck needs to be included in those recalls.

Fuel leak from top of fuel tank. Found fuel pump fuel supply port cracked and leaking. Replaced fuel pump to correct.

... Decreased service brake: intermittent vehicle vibration throughout vehicle and decreased brake performance with brake pedal application. Vehicle has approximately 21,400 miles, purchased new, operates in the rochester ny rust belt area. Inquired at dealer of problem, was informed gm does not cover brake "maintenance" items. Upon inspection, considerable deterioration, due to rust, was noted on said vehicles 4 brake rotors along with loss of inner brake pad surface area of rotors. Upon completion of 4 wheel brake pad, rotor and hardware replacement, at the cost to myself, to date, brake performance is back to "as new" with no noticeable vibration at this time.... Operator complain of fuel smell. Fuel leaking from top of fuel tank. Upon inspection found fuel pump supply port cracked and leaking. Replaced fuel pump to repair. 14591 miles 1540 engine hours

The back-up camera system has failed on my 2017 silverado for the second time under 46,000 miles. Got to the point that the screen was just blue, not even a distorted image any more. With large vehicles like this I feel the camera is an essential safety component for backing up, especially in my neighborhood with children around, people walking down the sidewalks etc. The dealer had to replace wiring at about 7,000 miles (5mo old) and then wiring and the camera again at about 45,000 miles (4yrs old). The second time more wires broke during testing, triggering a check engine light which resulted in 2 days in the shop. The camera screen started saying it needed repair, would work on and off and then quit completely and went blue.

On 10/26/2019, the 2017 chevrolet silverado was being driven in heavy traffic on the 134/210 freeway area of glendale, california. The truck was going 10 mph, and when the driver went to stop, the brake petal pressed to the floor, resulting in a rear end collision with the car in front of it. The driver of the first car appeared uninjured, but filed a claim later that he had ongoing lower back issues. The brake light only went on after the incident. The truck was driven to a local chevrolet dealer and the brakes were serviced a few days later. The vacuum pump was the reason why the truck did not stop. It is notated on paperwork and confirmed when speaking to the service manager on friday, november 1st at 4:30 pm. The service manager also reported there was now a recall to fix the problem, so it would be fixed and a new vacuum pump would be put in (vacuum pump replacement special coverage n182198000). A claim was filed with gmc to pay for the damage and take over the insurance claim made by the owner of the truck, as well as the car in front of it. Gmc came out to the chevrolet dealer during that time, and gmc reported to the owner that they would not help with fixing the vehicle or the insurance claims. The owner requested the final report three times and there was no response. The truck had been reported to multiple service providers that there were issues with the stopping of the brakes in 2019. It was requested by the owner that the brakes were inspected so that they could be replaced if needed. There was also an incident in july 2019 where front and rear brakes were interchanged on the paperwork and the owner of the truck was told that it was just a paperwork mix up because they "fixed the brakes that were bad."

Brakes give out at slow speeds such as parking lots are traffic. The truck started giving me problems one day in a parking lot the breaks went straight to the floor and the truck shook and it was weird and the truck barley stopped and I put it in park. I started to drive again and at fast speeds the brakes seemed fine .. But then it's happened multiple times for me now in traffic and in parking lots and it's not safe at all I've bought new rotors all new brakes pads and even changed the brake booster and main cylinder all through midas and it still has done it to me again.

Hi, my company purchased this truck brand new. Since the 1st I time drove it I realized that I can easily smell the pollution on the out side, inside the truck. Even with windows up and air condition on cabin air recirculate mode. This is a problem I did not have on my 2000 silverado 1500 model. The pollution from other vehicles in front of my truck would be sucked right into my truck and into my lungs. So every time I would get behind a smokey truck or near it, a few cars behind, I would have to open the windows to get that air out and if ii was stuck behind that truck then the smell was not going anywhere. I will be very happy to see this addressed. I see this as a major issue with this truck. Please help.

My vehicle has 30,000 miles. About 200 miles ago noticed a clicking while turning the vehicle it has increased in noise and occurance and happens while turning right to left. In park or driving. I had a mechanic diagnose the vehicle taking the cover off and he checked the other components and he diagnosed it as rack and pinion noise.

Abs and service trailer brake system warning message came on. Took it in for repairs and they replaced wiring. This caused left wheel speed sensor to malfunction. Vehicle will only drive correctly in 2 wheel drive.

Code p0300 and p050d keep on being thrown. Vehicle started having these issues back when I had 30k miles and now at 45k, I am getting them more often. The downshifts because of this are bad, the vehicle jerks when it downshifts. Feels like someone is rear-ending you. Vehicle sometimes shakes and sounds like its misfiring. I can sometimes turn off the vehicle and turn back on and it will work fine like nothing is wrong. Chevy wants 0 to diagnose and about 000 to replace injectors since they are not covered under their bumper to bumper or powertrain warranty. That's pretty bad that I would have to do a major repair on a vehicle that is not that old and has to come out of my pocket.

When reversing slowly the brake pedal becomes had to push to stop usually after pushing it more than one time.

It is very hard to stop the truck at low speeds (1-5mph). The brake pedal is very hard to push and does not stop the vehicle without considerable pressure being applied. It has happened twice within the past week while attempting to park. Thankfully, we were in a parking lot, but it could cause a significant issue while approaching a stoplight or other traffic situation. After reading, it appears that gm has known about the issue for some time, but I don't see a recall associated with the vehicle. I have owned it since new.

Truck went into reduced engine power with check engine light and traction control light illuminated on the instrument cluster. Subsequent restarts of the truck resulted in the code clearing itself and normal start up. Now it is having trouble starting up on a cold start, especially with remote start.

Transmission failed with just over 102,000 miles on it. I backed out of my driveway and attempted to put it in drive. It went nowhere - forward reverse both done. Towed to repair shop.

April 04,2021. Stopped for traffic on I-10 , 17 miles east of lafayette . La. While sitting approx. 10 to 12 feet behind the auto , a ford 350 with a trailer struck me from behind at approx. 50 plus mph. The impact pushed me into the carin front. Totally destroyed the reared. My reared and frontend was damage. My front bumper caved in. After impact, my truck cab filled with smoke. My airbags never deployed. My air bag light displayed that bags was deployed but they didn't. Got out of tuck because at the time, I had no idea what was happening. After such an serious impact from the back and front, I was very discourage that the airbags did not deploy as they were suppose to

Radio will flash bright lights on the dash and the radio and will change station and setting on truck when moving down the road and when parked will connect to people phone by it's self next to me

Twice on starting the vehicle the steering (the column unlocked)would not steer. It was impossible to turn the column no matter if I move it forward or reverse. No amount of twisting would allow it to steer. I worry it may fail in action on the road. The dealer said the steering module needed updating and then because it was 57 miles out of warrentee charged me 6. No garrentee it won't happen again.

Poor braking at low speed. I have electronic brake control module codes.

Radiator failed at 58k miles in december 2019. Dealer indicated that the powertrain warranty did not cover the costs to repair. Quoted cost was 00. Repaired at independent shop for 00. Now, march 2021, the radiator has failed again at 78k miles. Normal city driving. No off-roading or racing. This failure causes oil to mix with coolant. Many mechanic labor hours required as both cooling and oil systems need to be thoroughly flushed to remove residual coolant and oil.

The clutch torque converters wear out so fast and they wear out so close to the end of the vehicles warranty

I noticed several times it feels that it is not catching the gear and will suddenly lurch forward. I've taken it to the dealer and they said it is a transmission issue and no longer under warranty. Upon further research I've seen that there are many issues and complaints regarding this 2017 model year for this chevrolet silverado.

While parking, at low speeds, my brake pedal turned stiff and I had to use both feet to push it. This only happens while I'm at a low speed and can be made to happen every time. This has been happening off and on for a good while. I took the truck to my local dealer for a recall, which I don't personally think they did. I thought the recall was to fix this low speed issue that is known on this particular model of the 2017 silverado's. It's a safety issue in my opinion because this happens at any situation of low speeds. I tow a boat and it does it while I'm backing my boat into the water. Am I not supposed to use my boat because of this issue? Is it my fault that gm decided to use subpar parts to save money? This issue needs to be a safety recall and paid for by the manufacturer. They are recommending you change about 5 different parts in order to correct this issue. Ridiculous.

The tires have large cracks forming in the sidewalls. The cracks are deep and it appears may rupture at any moment. The cracks are wide enough to easily put 2 pennies in nd cover the top of lincoln's head. Noticed this has happening last year, but just noticed how bad it has become.

My factory installed sunroof exploded for no adverse reason on 03/17/2021 at 1440hrs. This occurred while driving at highway speeds with the sunroof in the tilt open position and the passenger window opened slightly. No injuries resulted in this incident .

My vehicle was off for the normal day coming home from work. I turned my vehicle on to go to the store and noticed the check engine light was on, I then went to oreillys and got a free diagnostic check, came back with code u1501 lin bus 1. While driving to my home from oreillys, I made a slight turn to my driveway and my vehicle shut down and completely locked up. I put it back in park and started it up like nothing happened a second ago. I've read about this code and the make,model, year of this issue, it doesn't seem like I'm the only one with this problem. I previously owned a 2014 chevy silverado and it was more trips to the dealership to figure out what made my vehicle stall while driving it than actually given the time to enjoy the vehicle. Please don't make me consider switching to ford.

The vehicle throws the check engine light randomly (avg once every 2 months). It occurs around 65 mph (interstate) which, leads me to believe it is a misfire on one of the cylinders. I have had it to the dealership and a diagnostic complete. Spark plugs were changed and they said it fixed the issue; yet it has not fixed the issue. I notice no power loss when it comes on (blinks). This light blinks roughly 30-45 seconds and goes off.

Transmission made a loud whining sound and then gave out. Error codes p0700 and p0796

Vehicle was remote started in driveway. Before the 1st cycle ran out and shut off the vehicle I opened the rear door and black smoke came out and could see smoke emitting from behind the headrests of the back seat by the slider rear window. The rear defrost had started on fire. The rear window on driver side spiderwebbed when I opened the door. Temperature outside was 7 degrees with windchill below 0. No recall listed here in us at this time I could find. Recall #192220470 in canada was listed for 2014-2018 trucks.

My silverado is exhibiting the same transmission issues described in many complaints here already, I. E., a slipping/shuddering feeling as it progresses through the gears and a frequent clunk/bang at times when it downshifts. It has become progressively worse with time. I am surprised there is not some sort of bulletin or recall for this issue considering it is described so exactly in so many different complaints. Obviously, this is a factory defect that chevrolet should correct at its expense.

Pulling out of parking and pushed on brakes around 4mph and pedal was very hard to push and truck kept rolling lucky nobody was right in front of me . I took in for recall for same reason and it is still doing what the recall was for . Milege is 33,000 vehicle is past 3 years old

Very upset the paint on hood and top coming off . Went back to my local dealer and complained about it but they are not doing any thing about it . I paid a lot of money for this truck and only has 23,000 miles it should be covered under warranty ! Clear coat coming off, corrosion covered !

I was driving in traffic going 5mph or less. Brakes kept slipping and had to push down on the brakes to make my truck stop almost causing me to hit the vehicle in front of me multiple times. Brake assist kept popping up on the dash. Problem only occurs at low speeds.

While in the drive through, my brakes faded and my truck would barley stop. The pedal felt different. I almost rear ended the car in front of me. My service "brake assist" warning came on. At slow speeds, typically in parking lots or restaurant drive thru traveling at less than 5 mph the breaking system fails and I have no brakes. This has offered 3 times. My truck has 38000 miles.

Driving long distances caused ball joints and a arms to break. First trip was right front a arm and ball joint second was left front both were replaced and a year later left front went out again this happened while driving. New ti tired were worn out on one trip.

The electrical wires in my back window got so hot it shattered my back window. Could smell electrical smoke post incident. Rear defrost was in use. There is currently a recall on exact same truck model and year in canada but currently not in the us. This needs to be addressed before someone gets injured.

Vehicle has a ticking noise and under powered. Took truck to dealer. Valve covers removed and valves are not opening completely. Cam lobe is worn. Removed both cylinder heads, oil pan and timing cover. Replaced cam shaft and all 16 lifters, replaced the vlom.

Transmission shutters when accelerating accelerating uphill. Accelerator difficult to press when accelerating and most times have to downshift two gears to get up to the desired speed and eliminate said shutter

My 2017 (1500) silverado ltz runs rough when ever the truck is in motion. It even run rough when it's parked and not moving. The shifting is rough as well. For example, when I'm at a red light, a stop sign or just at a complete stop, I have to take off fast because if I take off slowly, my truck will jerk incredibly hard. I turned on my truck one morning and it just was shaking so bad and out of control. I took my truck to a chevrolet dealership to get a diagnosis done and I have 3 bad fuel injectors. They want to charge me about 00 for the repairs, not happening. Gm has issued free repairs for these injectors since they're a common problem within these trucks but they're only allowing the free repairs done in 13 states and my state, (idaho) is not one of them. It's a 4 year old truck with only 43,000 miles on it. I shouldn't have a repair that's over

Rear glass shattered with defrost on. Prior to shattering I could smell something burning. I was parked in a fast food drive through when this happened. I had previously used the remote start to start the car.

While driving into my driveway turning right all power completely quit, I was stuck with part of my truck in the road with no lights nothing, very scary cars coming my way couldn't see me and were honking when they did. Speed limit on road is 45mph and many came very close to hitting me. This has happened 2 times now. First time my power came back on and I started back up. This time I called wrecker and by the time he arrived I had gotten help to push me off the road. For some odd reason the truck resumed power again and is in my driveway. If this happened on a highway which I had been on that night I might not be writing this concern to you today. I have some similar stories regarding electrical problems yet no recalls. The transmission on my 2017 has gone out. I am having to have it replaced and my truck is only 3 years old. From what I am read this has been an on going issue with the 2017 chevrolet's. I am very dissatisfied with the whole situation and the fact that gm will do nothing to fix this.

Transmission shutter. Took to dealership twice and replaced transmission fluid and filter first time. No change. The second time could not find any codes but would not make any corrections.

While making low speed turns the power assist fails, momentarily resulting in extreme difficulty turning/maneuvering. This happens no matter what type of road surface is being driven on (paved, unpaved) and does not happen all the time resulting in situations where I have momentary loss of control.

While going through a drive through restaurant, after I ordered my food and let my foot off my brake to advance forward and stop at the window to pay about 20-30 feet ahead, I could not brake in time to stop at the window. My brake pedal was very hard to push and even though I was pushing very hard it barely stopped, even though I was going less than one mph. This was very scary as none of my warning lights were noting errors and it happened out of the blue. I only live two miles away so I drove home very slow and I didn't notice the same issue on the drive home. However, when I pulled my truck into the garage, it started to happen again and I could hear the breaks doing something weird. I'm taking it to the shop today to get fixed tomorrow when the shop opens. I did receive two warning messages via text when I got home. My main concern is the articles I read about this issue make it sound like warning lights go off to let you know something is wrong and the articles say it's ok to drive because the safety features disengage, however, my features did not disengage without warning and I'm glad a car or person was not in front of me at the time it happened or I would have hit them. This is very concerning and needs addressed before someone dies.

There was no warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to coulter buick gmc tempe (7780 s autoplex loop, tempe, az 85284) where the manufacturer was informed of the issue and a factory representative was sent out to inspect the vehicle. The factory representative then informed him that there were no found issues with the vehicle. The contact then took the vehicle to jerry seiner chevrolet (1990 n pinal ave, casa grande, az 85122) where the contact pointed out that there was wearing on the front two tires that he believed was related to the suspension. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,700.

When pressing the brakes at low speeds such as in a drive thru or parking lot, there is a pressure loss in the brakes. This requires significantly increased braking pressure to stop. Failures are associated with a ticking sound coming from the engine compartment or vibration in the pedals.

I receive many error lights every time I drive my 2017 silverado. Lights include stabilitrack and traction control disabled, trailer brake systems service, and power steering diminished. The safety complaint is due to the power steering actually shutting down and a sharp loss in engine power and hard shifting. On many occasions I have had to leave the road until the problem went away. I have gone into quirk chevrolet on many occasions but they have not been able to find the problem. I have recently contacted chevrolet directly and they have set up a case and will keep open until this is fixed.

Two separate occasions with no warning when the vehicle's steering wheel was turned to the left, while in motion, would stop during the turn and jerk back the opposite direction and power to the vehicle would be lost for a second then have power restored. The first time I was backing up and had to turn the steering wheel left to avoid hitting an object, at this point the steering wheel locked up and jerked back in the opposite direction and the headlights flickered, radio screen went blank, and the climate control lights went out but all power came back on after a second. The vehicle did the same six times while trying to back up. I have a video after I backed up and parked and the issue repeated itself so I could get a video to show for a repair. The second occasion was when I was on a 25 mph two lane road. I was turning left onto another road and after coming to a stop to let a car go by I hit the accelerator to get the vehicle to move and the issue happened again but this time the engine cut out, door locks cycled, and lost all power to the vehicle. When I lost power my vehicle was half way into the on-coming lane of the road I was turning off of. Vehicle is at the dealer now at an attempt to fix the issue, the dealership has seen the video I have and the mechanic could not replicate the problem but found issues with the electric steering while doing test drives. As of now I'm not aware of the issues that were found. Mechanic told service supervisor that the electric steering needed to be updated in the computer to smooth out the issues. Since the original issue could not be replicated, not sure if this will be the fix. If video evidence is needed please email me and I will send video.

Purchased my vehicle just a few months ago and had zero issues, other than pesky afm bull. Within the last month, transmission began shuddering and jerking as if slipping gears under normal driving conditions. Soon thereafter, a whining noise started that was more prevalent during gear change. Spoke to technicians at my local gm dealership service department and he informed me that this is an extremely common issue with this year model and transmission. According to this senior technician, they have found that a fluid swap can cure these issues because the what is called for from factory just doesn't cut the mustard. Checked the system, and to my astonishment, there are no recalls or service bulletins for this known issue. Take my truck in for services, hoping all I would need still is the fluid swap, and now the technicians are telling me I need to fork over 5k for a new new transmission because mine is shot. Even more to my amazement, I start looking around on this site and there have been a ton of similar complaints surrounding this year make and model tranamission, and yet, gm has done nothing to correct or prevent these problems from persisting.

The truck has a transmission issue that causes the transmission to pop and jolt between some of the lower, in -city gears. It puts a strain on the powertrain and causes the truck to jerk and delay for a minute.

I noticed over the past couple of days, when vehicle is moving at very low speeds less than 10mph, the brake pedal is hard to push down and vehicle keeps rolling before coming to a complete stop. This can be replicated every time even when going in reverse. At speeds above 10mph, the braking system works just fine. This has caused a few near misses where I almost backed into another vehicle while parking in reverse in a lot; almost ran into my garage door; and almost crashed into another vehicle in front of me at the light. If you go from park to drive and just lift your foot off the brake pedal without applying gas and vehicle starts rolling, then you apply the brakes, it will keep rolling a few feet before coming to a complete stop and as mentioned previously the brake pedal is hard to push down and only goes down about a couple inches. I am scheduled to take my vehicle in to service this issue at the dealer.

Pressing the brakes at low speeds (drive thru, parking spaces) seems to cause a pressure loss in the brakes. This causes increased braking pressure to stop. You can hear a tick coming from what I assume is the abs controller. This happens in forwards and reverse.

Brakes have fluttered intermittently for the past few months at low speeds, feels like abs pulsing. In the past week to 10 days, brake pedal feels "dead" when I apply brakes at low speed, has gone to floor with no response to braking input. Yesterday, when pulling in driveway towards garage, maybe 3 mph, applied brakes with no response. Shifted quickly into neutral and applied parking brake, stopping inches away from garage door. Truck was in for brake issue recall and was recalibrated on november 16, 2019. Apparently it needs to be recalibrated or have further repair.

When pushing down on the break pedal it's not slowing down and stopping the truck it's happened about 5x

My 2017 silverado had a recall for the rear defroster. The recall repair was performed 6 months ago. Over this past weekend, an electrical fire smell appeared in the vehicle, and shortly thereafter, the rear sliding window began to smoke from behind a plastic part. I immediately pulled the truck over and shut down the engine and evacuated my family. The smoke stopped and I removed the fuse and relays for rear defrost to prevent future fire. Clearly the recall repair did not accomplish fixing the safety issue.

I noticed a ticking noise from my engine compartment while stationary, and began experiencing a vibrating brake pedal/noise when braking at low speed (in driveway or parking lot). I had a 'service- brake assist' message show on my instrument cluster. On 11. 3. 2020, I early struck another vehicle while pulling into a parking spot due to a dramatic increase in effort to press the brake pedal. These symptoms continue at the majority of my low speed brakes, I haven't noticed it while on city streets or highways.

Transmission slips causing truck to shake while driving

Driving down the road and power steering goes out when I hit a bump in the road. Comes back in when turn of the vehicle and turn it back on almost through me in the ditch a number of times. Just losses all power steering all at once.

Truck hesitates when accelerating, hard shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 1st almost feels like you've been rear-ended. Truck shakes and jerks when shifting gears, truck vibrates at low speeds. Been to the dealership multiple times with no success. They tell me they can't duplicate problem. Truck has 13,000 miles chevy should man up and fix the problem. Very disappointed

When going highway speeds, over 45 mph, my truck has a random shudder that feels like I am driving over rumble strips but I am not. This only happens over 40 mph

Torque converter locking up on random occasions with no warning before shifting period very dangerous while in traffic or trying to turn. Gm told me they knows about this problem of course and said install a new transmission with updated parts that were bad from the factory.

While parking the truck I loss all brake pressure. The pedal went to the floor and I had to stand on the brakes to get the truck stopped. Once stopped and parked I repeatedly pumped the pedal with no changes. I had the truck towed to a mechanic who found no issues with the fluid or system in general. He drove the vehicle with no issues for 10 minutes. He checked the pads and calipers for any issues with none being found. After putting the wheels back on the truck it exhibited a recurrence of loss of brake pressure.

Transmission almost has some what of a shutter when shifting as well as when driving at higher rpm and then slow down quickly hits hard as if getting rear ended

I was involved in a rear-end collision, where I was sitting stationary. The other vehicle hit me going estimated speed of 50 mph. The air bags did not deploy, yet the gas from the airbags filled the vehicle and some of the plastic in the interior has been broken/damaged. The police officer asked me if I "vaped", that is how cloudy it was inside the vehicle and smelled like sulfur. This has caused great concern that the airbags did not deploy, yet the gases from them did.

Break failure at low speeds due to lack of vacuum from a defective vacuum pump

The factory exterior radio gps on star { shark fin} antenna rubber seal and improperly gm designed part and improperly located water drain hole allowed water to drain into the vehicles interior and short out the radio, gps and onstar functions,on 9/17/2020 I took my vehicle to the dealership and was charged 135. 00 and was told that gm is not going to repair the part and seal which comes on the new part to correct the problem. The new replacement part has a new seal design and relocated water drain hole to correct gm known original design flaw which caused the leak and malfunction of my radio gps an onstar. This issue has happen on many gm vehicles with this tyype {shark fin} antenna

I lost my power steering and the dealership says I need a new pcm part number 19417067. Very unsafe for a vehicle of three years and less than 30,000 miles

This morning I was driving to work with the heat on full, heated seats on, and the rear defrost. I smelt smoke coming from somewhere in the car. I looked in my back seat to see smoke coming from the bottom of my rear window. I did not operate my rear power window at any point today. I stopped and looked closer to see something electrical melting behind the rear passenger head rest (see picture). Suddenly there was a loud pop, it was the rear window breaking. The whole thing did not break, just the 1/3 on the driver side. I believe this was the first time I have I used the rear defrost. I'm very happy nothing caught on fire and my back seat was empty. When I drove home there were no problems, the rear defrost was off but now I have a shattered. I did not have anything in my truck bed that could have broken the window, I believe the heat from the electrical issue caused it to shatter. I have seen that canada has recalled this truck for this issue. I don't know who is responsible and who is going to fix this problem.

I was driving the vehicle and the power steering went out temporarily at an intersection when attempting to make a left turn. The issue went away but then a month later the same issue happened again when turning right into a driveway except this time the truck completely stalled and went powerless. The truck was taken to a local dealership and they were unable to gurantee a fix but stated they disconnected and cleaned a few grounds before reattaching them. Gm customer service declined to assist at all with covering the shop charges. The truck that is 3 years old and has less than 30k miles.

The mylink radio system in my 2017 silverrado has developed a mnid of its own. It doesn't matter if the truck is sitting still or moving. Turn radio on and in just a few seconds the radio starts the browse function. It starts scrolling all the stations and on my little screen above my steering wheel goes to audio function disabling my speed readout. Also effects the navigation screen where the map jumps all over the place and displays locations off and on. On the home screen the apps just keep scrolling by never stopping. It is like the system has a ghost in it. It is very distracting while driving as the screen keeps changing. Now I am leaving the radio off. Can not use my navigation which I pay for every year, also sometimes the touch screen will not respond. My truck has 50,800 miles on it. I purchased the truck on october 31 2017. I have researched on the internet and found this problem happens quite frequently with the mylink radio system in other chevy products. Also discovered that the approx. Cost to replace or fix is approx. 1000. 00. I first noticed this problem apprx 2. 5 months a nd has steadliy gotten worse. Am afraid the the hmi module may go out and render my truck useless

Have notice a rough shift from 1-2gear or 2-1gear, specially when going up hill & I let my foot off the pedal. Huge bang like if the gears were or are slipping in the transmission or rear end. I have an ltz 4x4 with approx. 76k miles on it. Going to take it it the shop & see what they say

I was driving down a city street at around 35mph, steering got real stiff, and the steering wheel wouldn't move back to center, shortly afterwards all power steering assist went off. Was able to get to safety but things would've been a lot worse if there was traffic.

Transmission jerks in & out of gear while under mild acceleration from a dead stop or while turning a corner.

Power assist is working intermittently. On august 14th at 5: p. M, I turned on my vehicle and before I placed it into reverse, I noticed that the power assist notice came on and steering was nearly locked, very hard to steer. I had the vehicle towed and the service department indicated yesterday that it was working fine and then today they said it locked on them too. They recommend I take it to a dealer to check.

Vehicle was recalled for increased brake pressure at low rpm. Recall service performed at dealer. Vehicle still has increased brake effort issue after service was completed.

From purchasing this vehicle the engine has run rough. I've taken it to the dealer many times; now way beyond the warranty. Recently they couldn't find anything so the catalytic converter was suggested to change. No fix to this issue as it has continued and now they are telling me well just change the transmission!!

Paint is very weak/fragile. Easily chips and peels off.

I notice a burnt smell under the truck after coming home and seen oil all under my truck. I was afraid to drive it after I seen a huge leak . I filled it up with oil and took it to the deal stated 2 engine seal open when engain had pressure during a drive . This happen around 74 to 75,000 miles by the time I got to the deal it barley had oil I had to pay 800 dollors out of pocket.

I went to place my child in booster seat when I went to click the belt on it did not stay looks like it is stuck or broken part in side. I could not sit any one one the seat.

My truck had the electronic brake control module reprogramming with sps as per recall n192268490 performed. The reprogramming worked fine for a few months. In march 2020, I noticed that at low speeds and mainly when backing, the brakes began to lose pressure and what sounded like and felt like the antilock brake system was engaging, and very hard pressure was needed to stop the truck with longer than expected braking occurring. The problem has definitely worsened and occurs nearly every time braking at low speeds in reverse with any type of incline. While backing my boat into a driveway, this issue occurred and nearly sent the boat into the garage door. I had to apply as much pressure as I possibly could to the brakes to stop the truck and boat before hitting the garage door. The issue has occurred repeatedly as I have backed up on an incline, with or without a trailer or boat attached to my truck.

My 2017 silverado 1500, while at a stop light was idling rough and check engine light came. So when I brought the truck in for a second recall. The dealer said they could do a diagnostic. Well they said it was miss firing due to bad fuel injector cylinder 8 wasn't working so they gave me a price of 1500 to fix the problem unfortunately we just got out from the factory warranty and had extended warranty that didn't cover fuel injectors so we put lucas fuel injector cleaner and it helped. It seems as if there are a lot of complaints for this reason.

A few months after purchasing from dealer check engine light came on solid. Brought to dealer. Vehicle was shaking and running rough.. Dealer diagnosed issue as faulty fuel pressure sensor. They replaced the part through my extended warranty. A few months later the check engine light cane on blinking same issue vehicle shaking and running rough. Took to dealer immediately. They diagnosed as bad fuel injector. They claimed the ecm went bad caused by the bad fuel injector. They replaced ecm and fuel injectors costing thousands. They convinced me I had to pay for a "platinum fuel injection service" after it was replaced. This was another 0. I was promised the issue was fixed. I was told if check engine light came back on for same issue it would be covered "under good faith"... Well 2 weeks later the check engine light came back on after hardly even using the truck... I had my family in the truck for a planned family even and had to pull off in the sweltering heat to pay for a tow truck to come get my vehicle.... Now it sits over at the dealer again... They want me to pay a diagnostic again. And it has not even been looked at. For the amount I paid for this truck it is dangerous untrustworthy and embarrassing. After reading all these complaints for fuel injectors gone bad at early life, why is this not recalled?

While driving, warning message on dic comes on and say power steering needs service. Power steering completely fails. Truck becomes very difficult to steer. Not only does it not help, but the steering motor makes it harder to turn. This is the third episode of this. The first two times it reset. The first time I took it to dealer and they said they could see codes in history but could not find a problem so unless it was actively doing it there was nothing they could fix (cost me 0) the second time it reset before I could make an appointment. This time it has lasted two days. If it doesn't reset I will take it in without an appointment for them to look at.

Our 2017 chevrolet silverado 1500 was purchased new from the dealership in august 2017. The tires that came with the truck are continental crosscontact lx20. I began to notice chunks of rubber tread coming off of all 4 tires when they had approximately 27,000 miles. I had them inspected at the dealership due to safety concerns. I was told it was normal wear for these tires. The tires are rated for 70,000 miles. I currently have 36,500 miles on my vehicle and took it in for regular maintenance and tire rotation. I was told that the tires needed to be replaced due to pitting and chunking. There is good tread left on the tires, however the rubber is coming off in huge chunks on all 4 tires. The manufacturer has been contacted to address my concerns.

While driving down the road, the power steering will go out and I lose all power steering. The steering wheel jerks rapidly while traveling down the road. Took it to a mechanic. The truck glitches turns off in the middle of driving on the freeway or turning somewhere it will turn off the steering wheel gets hard and everything turns off for 3 seconds and goes back on. I have taken it in and reported this more than once and if I get in a car accident because of this I am sueing this company!

I have a problem with the transmission since truck was new , while going with foot off gas about 55 60 mph and slower speeds the truck transmission bangs as if the truck is being rearended occasionally happens while accelerating but most of time when not the dealer keeps downloading trans info and states no problem found. Going straight ahead. Last happened sat but ongoing for 3 years please help

Greetings all I had to put my truck in the shop because it started shuddering at 20 mph and I could barely get anywhere in it. I'm not sure how much it is going to cost but he said your would take care of it. I was wondering would provide the shop with a purchase order for repairs if need be. I began experiencing the problem I am about to explain shortly after purchasing my truck. I would experience an abrupt shift from first to second gear shortly after starting and on occasion it would abruptly shift down from second to first, feeling as though I had been rear ended. I scheduled my first routine service on december 16, 2017 at 6217 miles. The service writer, at the selling dealership, advised me the complaint I was experiencing was "normal", as the transmission had "to learn my driving habits" and would clear by my next routine service. My next routine service was november 29, 2018, after having only driven 5,000 miles and I again complained about the transmission issue. This service writer advised the transmission was still too new and that it's not completed learning my driving habits until at least 15,000 to 20,000 miles. I have since searched several chevy truck forums (I. E. Carcomplaints. Com, gmtruckclub. Com, and gm-truck. Com) and have found numerous complainants regarding the same issue experienced by owners across the states. Everyone complains of chevy not able to rectify the problem and citing "normal" operation. On may 28, 2020 I wrote to chevrolet customer assistance center. On june 26, 2020 I received a response from chevrolet in a letter stating they had been unable to contact me and if there was no further issues they would close the case. I called the number in the letter and spoke to "[xxx]", refusing any further identification, stating he would try and get me another appointment to have my vehicle inspected. I am awaiting a response. Just yesterday, while approaching the community security gate at my housing complex, the transmission abruptly shifted from first to second, lurching forward, requiring me to abruptly brake to avoid contact. My ac quit working from one day to the next! No warning no noise just started blowing hot air. It worked on my way home from work and the next morning would not cool off at all

While operating the moving vehicle the touchscreen activates by itself causing radio to turn on or off, both city and highway operation. This draws attention away from the road and to the electronic touch panel resulting in a possible distracted driving situation. The system also activates or deactivates other features on the display. *tr

When I first purchased this vehicle it has always shifted hard and shuddered. I took it to the shop and they told me it was because my auto 4 wheel drive was on. It continued to have issues for the next couple of years and each time I took it in for an oil change they would tell me there was nothing wrong with it. The check engine light was on. I took it in again and they said it was because the hood latch needed replaced. Replaced that and 2 days later the check engine light was on again. Took it back and they couldn't figure out why it was on. 3 days later, my transmission went out. Here I am, outside of my warranty and no way to pay the 5,000 it takes to repair my transmission. As I am reading online, it seems that the issues I was having, gm was aware of and hasn't made a fix for this yet. Gm refuses to fix my transmission when they are aware of issues with this year, make, and model.

I had to apply as much pressure as I possibly could to the brakes to stop the truck and boat before hitting the entry side wall. The issue occurred repeatedly as I had to maneuver the boat back and forth much differently to account for the braking issue. I notified my local chevrolet service department and was told a new vacuum brake pump would need to be installed and would be at chevrolet's expense. *tr

While driving at low speed example turning into a parking spot, making a u-turn (onto major roadway) coming to a stop the vehicle shuts down losing all power lights engine shuts off. Stereo presets are gone you have to throw the vehicle into park and restart it making it a very scary vehicle. A couple warnings come up on the dic. Check stability track and open and close driver side window. *tr

Vehicle loses braking ability when in a slow-speed situation, such as when parking, going through a drive-through restaurant, or when in stop-and-go traffic. Brake pedal will go to the floor when the situation occurs. A noise may occur that appears to be the anti-lock braking system trying to engage. Pumping the brakes seems to restore functionality for a short period of time. The issue does not occur when the vehicle is traveling at street and highway speeds. *tr

Chevy admits to a known issue with torque converter shudder which happens between 25-65mph when accelerating. *tr

My truck began with a notification that says "service stabilitrak", over the course of 48 hours it went from on hard bumps and just the notification, to now constantly turning on. There was a recall for this issue with the abs, but I have to pay the dealer out of pocket. They are currently doing the diagnosis on it to see what the issue is. If the issue matches the same abs issue as the recalls for 2014-2018 models on the silverado, would there be a way to fight the charges? The warning notification and icon would light up when either stationary or moving at any speed. 48 hours ago it would only do it when turning at almost full rotation, or driving over some cracks on the road. Now it just does it randomly and very often to where the brakes would shake when applied. Power also goes down a bit, and the wheel would jerk. Pretty much exactly as how all the prior complaints about it before the recall when it reached youtube. It makes driving very dangerous as I can be turning, then the wheel would spring back into a different position. Before this notification, when I apply the brake it would be very smooth. Now because the truck thinks there's some kind of abs issue, when I brake, it would shake the brake response (like old cars before abs) and also make the vehicle very unsteady. I cannot brake on a straight line as it would sway the vehicle. *tr

The vehicle was repaired however the failure recurred. A few weeks ago the contact also received nhtsa campaign number: 19v761000 (service brakes, hydraulic, service brakes, electronic stability control). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised to take the vehicle back to the dealer due to it being under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

Loss of brakes when in a slow mph situation such as drive-thru or parking lot situation. Requires significant pedal pressure to stop vehicle. Almost resulted in collision with vehicle in front of my truck, but was able to steer away before impact and stop safely. Many report of vacuum pump issue. Service brake assist message came up afterwards. *tr

Child lock feature for back door won't shut off and lock will not work! This happens when car is on or off in park. *tr

Transmission is clunky at lower gears and doesn't switch at highway speeds if I need to accelerate quickly. Hard shifts up and down especially at gears 1-3 .

Backing down boat ramp with boat I lose the brakes and rolls backwards brake pedal pulse like abs trying to work. This has happen about 6 times now only when backing down ramp with boat otherwise can't recreate.

Brakes have no power assist at slow speeds. Started when parking slowly in reverse, but also can do it moving forward. Brakes fail and require very hard press of brake pedal to engage at all! Seems like vacuum pump is going out. Looks like a common complaint/problem that chevy should recall and has not. It is a major safety issue!

The abs system failed when braking on a snowy, icy, slippery road locking all four wheels causing the vehicle to skid out of control. The brake light and abs light and tcs icon were displayed. The brakes had to be released to regain steering control and judicious use of manual braking eventually brought the vehicle to a stop. The abs pump motor was noted running continuously even with the engine off. Onstar diagnostics indicated a traction control system error. This braking failure occurred in conditions that the abs is specifically designed to prevent loss of control!

It happens intermittently.. As I slow up to a speed under 10 miles an hour, as soon as I turn the steering wheel, the vehicle will lose power, either turning off and on fast the dash will lose power but the motor will still be running... Sherry this happens, the steering feels like theres resistance turning and the only way to fix it is to turn off the vehicle and let it sit. Other times it will happen and the vehicle will lose total power,almost like I removed the key but the vehicle will still be rolling. The steering wheel has locked twice all while the vehicle is still in motion as well and brakes are non functioning. Its happened several times going through intersections, pulling into my driveway, and u turns. It never happens in reverse. Ill never own a chevy again...

I picked my truck up from the local dealer after having recall n192268490 repaired. The hard pedal issue is now worse than before. The first time you push the brake pedal it feels ok but the second time it has little to no power assist and don't try for a third. By the third try the pedal is rock solid and you end up backing into your tractor under the shelter. So it's back to the dealer in the morning

When coming to stop my truck regularly has very hard downshifting. Along with a very audible 'clunk' from the rear end, I will experience a feeling that I can only deceive as being hit by another vehicle. This results in sometimes having to brake harder as you feel like your going to move forward rapidly. A very similar experience happen when pulling out slowly in low gears. These two combined can be extremely hazardous as well as just very obnoxious/annoying when driving in a yielding situation.

I was towing my travel trailer and the brakes failed,I totaled the camper in front of me. The notification letter from gm said even in the hard pedal situation the brakes are still in safety specs, not with a 7,000 lb trailer behind the truck. I feel gm should cover the costs of damage and update the latest notification letter to include letting the people who tow know they aren't going to stop in time. Brakes did not kick in when I tried to avoid hitting a car that slammed their brakes on in front of me. This caused an accident, in which I had 00 + dollars in front end damage that my insurance carrier provided. I had to pay 00 in deductibles along wtih 0 in rentals.

I was parking my travel trailer on a camp site and readjusting. I pulled ahead down a slight incline and the brake pedal went to the floor in the truck. I pushed the pedal as hard as I could and stopped just before hitting another camper. Put the truck in park and tried the brakes again and the pedal pressure was back. I was then able to finish adjusting and it did not have the brake issue again. It was very scary with kids around etc.

Fuel injector or fuel pump does not work properly. On two (2) different occasions, months apart, my engine has lost power and the vehicle stalled. Both times at low speeds 10 - 15 mph and low rpms. This has nearly caused me to crash into one vehicle and for another to almost hit me from behind as my car died while making a right hand turn off a busy road. I have had the vehicle towed in twice, but the dealership and gm both say unless they can duplicate the issue they will not fix or replace anything. This vehicle is unsafe and needs to be recalled/reviewed. On top of this, they had to replace the vacuum pump for the brakes and do a software patch update because the backup camera was dangerously bright, especially at night. The camera issue took 2 visits to 2 different dealerships to get resolved. Gm is playing the numbers game of hoping for a fine instead of paying to replace any parts. Especially since they are dealing with a pr battle about making cars outside of the usa. They took the bailout money and screwed americans.

Backing up my truck, at slow speed down a boat ramp, my brake pedal authority went to zero. I had no brakes during backing my boat in gulf of mexico. I had to stand on pedal with all of my weight just to slow it long enough so I could put on parking brake. I called dealer to inquire if this was a problem, and they said I had to wait two weeks to even get it in there to look at it. Unacceptable. Loss of braking can kill occupants in these vehicles. In my case, I would have been under water and possibly drowned.

My wife took the service recall letter from the manufacturer and the dealership (santa fe chevrolet/cadillac in santa fe, new mexico) informed my wife that since my vehicle has 70,00 miles they would not service the recall for free and instead would charge us 0 dollars. Subsequently we have not been able to use the vehicle in over six weeks. This is simply untenable. Please help us as it is unsafe to operate this vehicle. Takata recall , I was in motion on a city street and hit a deer when my air bag sensor went off in my dash and caution lights and some light would not shut off but air bags did not deploy

My family was stuck in traffic in charlotte at rush hour 8-18-18 we had push the truck across 4 lanes it died it started 20 minuites later and done it again down the road we pushed again waited it started I drove it home 2. 5 hours with no problem took it to dealer ship they said computer showed nothing today 7-19-19 it done it again after setting in traffic we pushed out of the road it started 20 minutes later so this time I had it towed I have to small kids this is not safe so its at the dealer now it has 8000 miles on it

When traveling at low speeds the braking system fails. The brake pedal is not responsive. You must apply maximum force to try and stop the vehicle. I was parallel parking and hit a mailbox causing damage to my rear right fender because the truck did not stop properly. I had the truck checked and they old me it was a faulty vaccum pump. This seems to be an ongoing issue with this model truck.

The transmission shifts hard in low gears (upshifting and downshifting), lunging forward and a hard knock in the transmission. Chevrolet cannot fix it!

8 speed transmission harsh jerks between 1st and 2 gears and 2nd and 1st gears typically occurring on slight downhill grade harsh jerk and knock/hammer noise common to occur after vehicle has been sitting and in stop and go traffic such as school drop off with children around and rush hour traffic

Shortly after purchasing my truck, I began experiencing hard shifts, gear searching, clunking and hanging between gears. Occasionally the shift would be so hard it would feel as though the truck was struck from behind by another vehicle or object. Multiple trips to the dealer has resulted in numerous attempted fixes with no relief of the problem. Currently the truck is back at the dealership having the entire transmission replaced. This is causing a depreciation of the value of the truck as well as an unsafe condition while driving.

Truck transmission was good until about 2,000 miles. Truck has delays when putting in gear after it sits overnight. Truck has harsh low speed downshifts. Problems are real bad when vehicle is cold. When you come to a complete stop and let off the brake the truck will sometimes lunge forward. Took truck back to the dealer where I bought it and they said nothing was wrong so I made an appointment for a week later with another dealership. They did a "timing" test and felt the delay and did 16na364 update. It seemed to help for a couple of days and problem returned. Both dealerships are aware of the problem but gm is not providing a fix. I now warm the truck up a few minutes before driving to help with delayed gear engagement. Harsh downshifts continue with the lunging and slow response at times when applying gas petal. You have to be very careful when driving this truck because of the transmission problems. There are many complaints for this not to be a major problem. This vehicle sticker price was ,000 dollars. I wish I had my old truck back because it was reliable and not potentially dangerous to drive. General motors need fix this problem or at least give an free extended warranty. The dealers will fix the transmission if gm will tell them how.

The rear seat in the crew cab version seats 3 across but has one 2 head rests. The 2 head rests that are there, are entirely too short to provide any protection. Since this is a crew cab with seating for 3 in the rear, there should be proper head protection for each passenger. The top of the rear head rest is only 28" from the seat bottom. Way too short for most passengers.

The back middle passenger seat belt plastic does stay in the upper shoulder area causing the seat belt to go to the side and unable to adjust. Other ac has a leak I should not have to pay out of pocket for a truck of the age of 2 years I see other got repair but mine is not on a list of repairs I can not afford this expensive.

I had a deer run into the side of my 2017 silverado and airbag deployed after autobody replaced and fix truck the truck the airbags deployed again while truck was being programmed gm claims there investigation comes back there not at fault but refuses to release any documentation to us making us think there is much more there investigation is hiding and they dont want to become liable

Traveling approx 30mph, on a city street, another vehicle turned left in front of me, I did not even have time to hit the brakes. Both the front driver and passenger airbag deployed but the driver seatbelt did not lock up. I came completely out of the drivers seat, my chest hit the airbag and my lower abdomen and upper thighs were bruised badly from hitting the steering wheel. I also had neck pain for 2 days afterward. I had a passenger in the front seat and that seatbelt locked, the passenger was not injured and only a little sore in the neck and back the next day.

As I was approaching a stop sign break did not kick in fully until about 6 feet from where I initially activated break. Vehicle was in motion in public street.

Loss of brakes when backing up. On multiple occasions, when I applied the brakes during low speed reverse or when backing down an incline, the brakes became very hard to depress and did not stop the vehicle down until I exerted considerable force with both legs. This has happened both when reversing with a trailer and when reversing without a trailer. The most recent incident occurred on may 17, 2019 when backing a boat and trailer down an incline at a boat launch ramp. I was able to stop the vehicle before it entered the water, but it took considerable force on the brake pedal. I alerted the dealership, kolar chevrolet duluth, of this safety issue twice in 2018 and again most recently on may 23, 2019. The dealership was unable to duplicate the problem and stated they would not take further action unless they were able to duplicate the issue.

Received a letter from chevrolet advising of a potential problem with brakes, increased brake pedal pressure and stopping distance. Went to dealer and was informed I would have to pay to have a diagnostic performed at my expense to determine problem. Chevrolet corporate informed me this was correct. My complaint is why am I being charged this when chevrolet knows they have a problem , that is potentially dangerous.

Braking issue causing rear-end collision at low speed on highway in rush hour traffic. Increased stopping distance, increased brake pedal effort.

Brakes not effective when stopping at low speeds. Dealership repaired, stated it was a known problem but not a recall and a vacuum assist issue. I was involved in a traffic collision at low speed on the interstate. Abs did not engage and I was unable to stop colliding with the vehicle in front of me.

Loss of braking in stop and go traffic. Vehicle brakes are extremely difficult to press in slow moving stop and go traffic. The abs seems to kick in but the vehicle continues to roll forward. Speed would be around 10 mph. Braking is ok at normal highway speeds but losing ablility to brake at low speed. Near miss on rear ending several vehicles.

Purchased 2017 chevrolet silverado 1500 11/2017. 04/2017, no cold air blowing from the ac. Took it to dealership thinking only need a recharge since this vehicle is fairly new. Experiencing hesitation/'chuggle'/convertor slip in 2nd-6th gear in v8 mode when rolling into the throttle and putting the engine under load on a highway. Especially noticeable when in 4th 5th or 6th gear,1500-1850 rpm, loading the engine to accelerate 55-60mph, 60-70mph. Or when accelerating on an incline at same speeds without downshifting. Or when slowly applying throttle to maintain speed (65+) against a head wind or when trying to pass a car. All while maintaining current gear and no downshifting.

The truck has inadequate peripheral illumination while driving on dark winding roads. . When making turns you cannot see the the road in front of the truck. When going straight its difficult to see the shoulder depth of the road. . This is a serious safety issue that needs to be addressed with this model. The 2019 models have much better headlight designs that address this problem.. The 2017 chevrolet silverado 1500 lt that I have does not. The dealer service writer and I walked around their lot and compared the new models headlights to mine. He called me back the next day and said they did not have any new lighting replacements or repairs for this model. My truck is still under warranty. It's down right scary to drive on dark winding roads at night.

While parking in my work lot at low speed, my pedal became very stiff and vehicle was very hard to stop. This problem repeated the same day in my driveway at home. While researching online I learned about the failures of brake vacuum pump. Purchased and changed mine myself.

I bought my pickup brand new from a certified chevrolet dealer and have had an issue since I test drove it. When shifting under low throttle from 1st to 2nd gear and back down from 2nd to 1st, there is a terrible clunk. Sometimes its barely noticeable, and other times if feels like I've been rear ended. There is an extremely noticeable hesitation when starting off from a complete stop, which could potentially put myself and other drivers in danger. I've brought my vehicle back to the dealer multiple times and have been told that there is no fix.

When going slow and the truck shifts from 1st gear to 2nd gear you can hear and feel a strong knock and it pulls the truck this also happens when going down in gears from 2nd to 1st at slow pace and it doesn't happen all the time but more often then not if your driving slow like in a parking lot it happens 6/10 times took it to the dealer stated no recall but they are aware of the issue but were instructed not to do anything to the truck verified google and a lot of other people are having the same issue

One morning when I got to work I was backing in my parking space, when my brakes got hard to the point that I could not press them. It was to the point that my truck would not stop unless I used both feet with heavy pressure. If I was driving I would have never stopped that truck. I was just outside my warranty with 39000 miles on the truck. I had it towed to the dealership and they told me that I had to replace my vacuum pump.

The engine is unable to receive consistent fuel when you start the vehicle. It requires pushing down on the gas pedal multiple times and restarts to get the engine going. Then, while driving the engine loses fuel and causes the vehicle to turn off and essentially die. This has put me in 2 near wreck incidents already despite the gm dealerships saying there is no issue.

My brakes failed to stop my vehicle at slow speeds and while I was at a decline and almost caused me to rear end another vehicle. The brake pedal got extremely hard and would not allow me to press down on it.

I pulled into crowded parking lot in the rain & couldn't stop my truck. I used both feet to press brake as hard as I could & got truck stopped. Brake pedal was very hard to press and had to pump brake about 3 times to get stopped. Truck was fine for next 3 days & then it happened on interstate at 75 mph. I was pulling a trailer & the only way I got truck stopped was to use manually press trailer brake mechanism inside truck. It really scaredme as I had my kids in truck with me and valuable livestock in trailer. At dealership now getting it checked out. I'm over 36,000 warranty but under 60,000.

A rough clunk noise occurs when trying to stop, and car actually revs to accelerate speed when applying breaking and trying to stop. (in . Motion) this is a dangerous issue. Transmission does not appear to smoothly enter into subsequent gears. A jerk occurs in between shifting of gears. (moving) I have been completely stopped on a flat street, and relax my foot off the break, and the car wants to leap jump forward. This is not safe. The steering assistance reduced light came on the dash and the vehicle steering became stiff like there was no power steering. I turned my vehicle off and restarted the vehicle and the light came on again, but this time the steering was normal. Now the light is on at all times. My vehicle has right at 50,000 miles on it.

While driving on ca 395 north with snowy conditions, I exited to the viewing overlook. At a low speed and my steering locked up. I could not force the wheel to move in any direction but lucky I rolled to a stop in the turn out. I turned the truck on and off 2-3 times and steering remained locked. I waited about 3 mins to try turning the truck on again and the eps came back on.

The truck has a hard time accelerating and randomly upshifts and downshifts. When coming to a stop it has a hard time downshifting which makes it hard to stop. When on the interstate in rush hour traffic it is very dangerous to drive because I have no idea if the truck will accelerate or not and since it has a hard time stopping I am afraid I am going to rear end someone. Another issue the truck has is with the four wheel drive. It works good but it makes a really loud grinding noise when engaged. I am taking it to the dealer today as I have before. I am hoping they take a serious look at it and fix the issues.

The codes should not allow you to use the starter and it dose will be goiing down the road and loses power. Went through 5 wire harrnesses with in the 5 months

6. 2l engine with 8 speed transmission. Erratic transmission shifting including downshifts so hard on the highway the rear wheels will lock up momentarily and throw occupants forward. Taking off from stoplight will intermittently experience delayed engagement and engine will rev to almost 1500rpms before the transmission engages. Tires bark, scares the heck out of driver who them immediatley slams on brakes in traffic thinking something broke. Dealership cites normal operation with no fixes available from gm. Lots of similar stories online and the first class action suit against gm for these 8 speed transmissions has been filed.

This the third time that the door latch is not working on different doors not just in one 3-4 months ago they replaced one of the latch the passenger rear door, know I have the driver side and rear drive side

Truck was dropped off at the dealership, for loss and sticking of power steering. They completed some tests replaced a part and did a full test drive. I picked up the truck, drove halfway home barely made it complete loss of power steering again.

Spare tire is a different size than what is original truck came with 19 inch tires spare tire is a 17 inch

Transmission downshifts rough.

My truck shut off, while driving on the highway and would not restart. This happened two times within three weeks. I hade to have the truck towed both times. The dealership couldn't give me a reason for the problem. The dealership returned the truck to me after one week the first time, two weeks the second time. They couldn't get it to restart, until it sat for a day both times. They couldn't give me a reason for the shutdown ether time.

Brakes become hard apply and will not stop. Had to utilize the emergency brakes to avoid a collision.

When pulling into a parking space the brakes became really hard to push and took longer for brakes to apply to stop the vehicle. Took the truck to mk smith chevrolet in chino, ca and they diagnosed the issue as a faulty vacuum brake pump and replaced it since it was under manufacturer warranty.

The pickup shakes at speeds typically between 30-45 and 55-75. It shakes hard enough and long enough at times where at higher speeds becomes dangerous because it compromises the steering where the truck can come off its line and become unstable. It will also shake randomly and for unknown periods of time. When it starts I have no control over it and no control over when it starts or stops. I have brought it into the dealer a couple times now. The first time they said I needed to rebalance the wheels and put on new tires so I did both. The second time they said it was a problem with the engine/drivetrain when it deactivates 4 cylinders. They told me there is nothing they can do for this problem. I have researched this and it seems that it is a problem with this specific engine and gm is claiming there is not a safety issue. This is completely false as the truck becomes unstable and steering is compromised. At highway speeds this is a huge issue especially if this continues into winter months where road conditions are not the best.

Hard unresponsive brakes at low speeds.

The fuel pedal flexes when accelerating. Its mounted by plastic and it moves while the pedal is depressed.

The driver sustained unknown injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was totaled. The police officer stated that the vehicle would be towed from the scene. 6. 2l engine had faulty injectors and had to be replaced. Gm said my truck had a warranty block so I had to contact the bbb and go to mediation to get injectors replaced. Now I'm noticing a shudder (vibration) while driving with a fluttering of the rpm's. All my research has led me to believe it is a faulty torque converter. My wife has a 2017 camaro that is having the same issue. Dealership stated that they are replacing the faulty torque converters in vehicles with 8 speed transmission, but will not replace mine because gm has put a block on my warranty. Gm cannot provide any evidence giving them reason to block my warranty on my vehicle.

Deer ran out in front of me I swerved and slide off the road into some trees main damage to the side of the truck but none of the air bags deployed, truck was totaled, shoulder is injured, rounding a corner at approx 35 mph on a gravel road

When driving veh shifts hard causing a jump or unexpected acceleration. Brouht it to huntington chevrolet they stated it was normal. I do not feel safe in this vehicle.

Vibration in the rest end. Had tires rotated and still a vibration. Complained to general motors only to be told that it is within their specs. They know there is an issue with the 2015-2017 silverados and nothing being done. Makes it uncomfortable to drive on long trips is at all speeds while driving and negotiating bends in the highway. Noticed when I purchase and drove off the lot purchased in november 2017 continued

Bought this 2017 silverado in feb. 2017 didn't notice the vertical scratches in the windshield until the sun hit it just right. The dealership determined it was a factory defect and replaced it quickly no problem. At about 13,000 miles I noticed that the ew windshield had scratches left by the wiper blades. Where the blades reverse direction the windshield is scratched so bad it appears milky. I took it to the dealer to see about getting it replaced and was told by the service manager that they couldn't do it without an okay from gm. I contacted gm's directly. After they talked to the dealership they told me that the scratches were my fault for " using the wipers without washer solution" I have never ever turned the wipers on without pressing the washer button first period. I was told by the dealer that he called and left messages with the gm customer service rep. And she has not returned his calls. Yesterday while driving on a winding road the sun hit the scratches just right causing me temporarily to lose sight of the road. I was a lifelong gm customer not anymore!!!!

While I was driving on the highway, approximately 55mph; the check engine light came on; smelled like plastic burning at the same time; I was able to stop on exit ramp as thick black smoke filled the inside. Good samaritans helped me get out as flames were ignited under the hood. Several like mini explosions accompanied the flames.

For no apparent reason the stabilitrack service indicator will activate in a variety of settings, ie low speed on a road, high speed on an interstate, parked in a parking, etc. I have taken the vehicle to our local gmc dealer and they are unable to replicate the issue or locate a code that is occurring when this warning indicator activates; this occurred last week and as recently as this morning while I was driving to work

Front bumper sensors not working as designed, transmission hard shifting in low gears (city streets and highway), clock time changing on it's on by 15 min (stationary), speed display not functioning (on highway and city streets), windows going up and down on their own (stationary, in motion), gps will not complete trip directions (highway), blue tooth function losses calls or has static interference (city streets, stationary and highway)

As a result, the vehicle crashed into a guardrail. The driver's side air bag deployed. A police report was filed. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed to bennett chevrolet in egg harbor township, new jersey, but was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 16v256000 (suspension) a few days after the crash. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was 3,200.

Vehicle was parked in a shopping center parking lot after being driven for approximately 15 minutes. When returning to the vehicle 10 minutes after parking it, the vehicle starter was attempting to start the vehicle despite no remote start or onstar app being activated to start the vehicle. The vehicle continued to attempt to crank and start, even after I unlocked the vehicle with my key fob, inserted the key into the ignition, and attempting to start the vehicle and turn off the key. The vehicle continued to attempt to crank and start and I smelled a strong electrical burning smell. I then saw blue/greyish smoke coming from the passenger side where the hood meets the windshield. I then gathered my belongings from the truck and watched from a safe distance. After the smoke, the truck no longer attempted to crank or start itself and the smoke was gone within 5 minutes, although there were small instances of smoke over the next 15 minutes. The truck was put on a flatbed tow truck for further diagnosis at the local chevrolet dealership. Initial diagnosis indicated that the "starter had consumed itself" and was the cause of the smoke I saw, but no further information was available. It was quite scary to have a truck attempt to start itself with a small electrical short/fire as a result without a key being needed.

Transmission abruptly shifting. Feel like the truck is being hit by another vehicle. I don't know when it's gonna do it but when it does, its scary. The other day while trying to back up into my drive way, the would not move when I pushed on the pedal. Then on it's own, the truck burned rubber backwards when I took my foot off of the gas pedal. I almost drove into my garage! This truck is not safe and needs to be removed from service! This is an ongoing problem that you never know when it's going to happen during you drive.

At night when shift car into reverse the camera display in the dash is so bright it blinds the driver, and there is no adjustment

Headlights are not very good at all. I have adjusted them and then other drivers bright light me. I've tried everything to be able to see better at night but nothing has worked for me.

Brakes failed when driving slowly in both forward and reverse. This occurred following a period of extensive highway driving. Brake pedal was extremely hard to push and resulted in no braking of vehicle. No trailer towing was involved.

2017 silverado paint chipping really easy around wheel wells. I have 8000 miles on the truck and probably have around 50 or more chips down to the primer. Contacted chevrolet they will not warranty paint chips. I have owned a 1999, 2007 and 2013 chevrolet silverado and never had this issue. I have also taken notice to other trucks years 2014 to 2018 having same issues some have no paint left at all vehicle maybe get driven on gravel about 500 miles a year really disappointed in the paint quality.

Washer pump burnt, dealer replaced washer bottle & washer pump. Purchased dec 2016, last 6 months lived in arizona. Didn't use. Tried using mar 20th, washer didn't work. Numerous 2016-2017 complaints on line regarding this. Dealer repair representative said motor burnt up; had to be replaced. Appears wiring caused motor to burn up per prior customer complaints. Purchased my 17 chevrolet silverado 1500 on 11/28/17 and returned it to the dealership on 12/1/17. This was due to a severe shuddering & shifting in the transmission & severe shake in the front end at 70-90mph. They balanced & rotated the tires, saying the issue was fixed, I picked the vehicle back up on 12/4/17 but the issue was not fixed & an electrical issue had also occurred. I took the vehicle back on 12/7/18 with the same complaints regarding the transmission & shaking in the front end, as well as the electrical issue. The problem electrically was while sitting at a stoplight the bright lights flashed & the radio/navigation screen went blank. The dealership called me on 12/8/17, told me they had been unable to duplicate the issues, finding nothing wrong. I left it over the weekend, went in monday morning & spoke to the service manager directly. He told me he had purchased the same vehicle with the same transmission issues. Said there was a possible fix by exchanging the transmission fluid & they would use a new machine pico to check it out. They had to replace the torque converter due to malfunctioning & perform a programming module update on radio, I picked it up on 12/22/17, issue with the transmission was still not resolved. I took it to a different dealership for transmission shudder, shift & shake issue most noticeable at 70-90mph, & radio issue. They were advised to perform a module update on the transmission & given 2 options on the radio, they chose to replace the screen. I took it back to that same dealership, module update made transmission/front end issue worse, especially coming out of a curve. They've replaced my 2 back tires said they were bad & should fix the shaking issue in the front end. Unable to duplicate transmission issues thus they cannot repair it. Owners with the same issues are being told gm knows but can't fix transmission issue.

Unsafe characteristic!!!! Inadvertent hard shift between 1st and 2nd gear or when driving less than 10 mph. The severity of the shift has nearly caused multiple accidents due to unpredictability. When this happens it is a very startling event that can make you increase throtle press and accelerate the vehicle, oversteer in low speedturns, abruptly apply the brakes to keep from running into objects including people and dizzyness from your head striking the headrest. Each morning when I leave for work I have to make a u-turn. I never know when or how hard the transmission will kick. I've almost ran into a sign/pole if I hadn't quickly steered away from it. When looking for a parking place within a parking lot, the truck will sometime hard shift in and out of gear. I don't feel safe or confident in this truck. I'm scared to let my wife drive it in this condition. Iwas told by local chevy service dept that is in a normal charataristic of the transmission. That gm is aware but will not correct the issue. This is my 5th chevy vehicle and my 3rd truck. None of the others had this issue. Please advise...

When variable timing of vehicle shuts down two cylinders, switching truck from v6 to v4 with rpm's at or below 1,500k, the truck begins to miss/shutter. This occurs and on road type, any weather condition. At times the vibrations of this miss/shutter can be a bit violent. If further accerate to force the truck back into v6 mode, the issue resolves itself but as soon as the truck switches back to v4 mode, the problems begins again immediately. I have had the truck at dealer service department 5 times with no resolution to the problem. Instead, the technicians continue to perform unrelated work items that do not alleviate the real issue. Upon my last service for the issue I was informed that "gm doesn't currently have a solution for the problem" and that all of the service work that the technicians continue to perform is "nothing more than a way to try to mask the symptoms so that you don't notice it." upon researching, I have discovered that this exact same issue has arisen in multiple gm trucks. The long term affects, which are unknown at this time, are a concerning.

Electronic power steering suddenly and without warning shut off and I was unable to steer resulting in a vehicle collision and injuries requiring surgery. The vehicle was in motion when the eps shut off.

Truck exhibits a rough idle after truck is driven and warm. Idle causes teh truck to shake and feels like it will die at stops. Rpm drops below 300 rpm then goes back to 490 rpm. In addition the truck will start to shake and vibrate at highway speeds of 75-80 mph. Gmc service performed tsb changing our engine mounts but that has not fixed the issue. This is a known issue on silverados and no fix in site. Concerned with seat vibration this is a safety issue due to potential drive train part failure.

8 speed transmission shift very rough from 1-2 and 2-1 gears, frequently hesitates, makes clunking sound. Have taken it to gm dealer and am informed that yes, that's the way the 8 speeds are. This is a k + truck. This transmission issue causes and can cause hesitation when needing to accelerate, thus creating a safety hazard.

When we first bought the vehicle we received the error message: antilock brakes & stabilitrak problems & wheel vibrated terribly. Took it in, they said it was the computer and fixed it. This morning error re: anti lock brake problem and no brake fluid (put in a whole can) and error traction off (but we did not turn it off) this is a new vehicle and we could get killed or kill another if there is a brake failure. Radio display changes from bright to dim whenever it wants to. Also radio changes without even touching the screen. Power adapter has started not powering garmin after being plugged in during trip. Had to try reconnecting several times. After connection fixed garmin lost power even after reinserting adapter. These problems happen on both city, highway and freeway driving. The latest was shown to local dealer right after it happened. I'm sure when the vehicle is checked under warranty that nothing will be found. Thats why I want answers if you have any. Most recently it happened on 20 feb. 18

Transmission shifts hard and vehicle surges at low speed with accompaning "clunk". Problem occurs in both upshift and down shift. Dealer informs me that is a "learning" curve for vehicle to understand my driving habits. I have a 2017 silverado with 12,000 miles on it. East city driving and have hundreds of paint chips all over the vehicle. Gm says it's excessive but that paint chips are not covered u see warranty and is due to my driving conditions. There are other with same complaint online. Gm is ignoring their paint issue. They say epa regulations say they can't put on a good paint and clear coat and this is how their paint will be from now on

Back up camera on in dash display is extremely bright at night. There is no way for the driver to adjust the brightness. It is so bright that you can not see anything else and can't even see the screen because it is so bright!

The backup camera is blinding at night. Cannot safely drive vehicle at night. There is no dimming the screen.

Dash cracking in pieces could cause pieces of plastic shards to become airborne when air bag is deployed causing injury and possible eye damage. The vehicle was stationary when I heard it pop after turning on defroster. It appears to be a common problem in chevrolet / gm vehicles spanning many years.

I hit a huge deer with most of the front end lots of front damgage at over 45 miles an hour. Dash panel said airbags but didnt active, cab filled up with like grey smoke flashers activated couldnt be turned off seatbelts worked dont feel safe driving the 2017 silverado today very sore shook up and concerned about saftey of anyone riding or driving in it.

Our 2017 silverado 1500 truck went into low power mode while driving on the interstate at 75 mph. It started to run really rough and all of a sudden all the lights were flashing on the dash and it lost power. The light on the dash was flashing low power mode. Couldn't get above 35 mph putting us in a very dangerous position with traffic flowing 70 mph + had to try to maneuver off the interstate. Turned it off to reset it and it drove normal but the check engine light was on. Took it to the dealer and they said they had to reprogram the ecm. I found several other instances of this problem being reported on gm and chevrolet discussion forums.

There's a box under the steering column that can vibrate loose and fall by your feet while driving. It falls right beside the brake and makes it difficult to safely brake without it swinging around. It can be replaced but is capable of vibrating loose over and over.

Hard brake pedal. Loss of all power assistance. 2017 chevy 1500 34k first did it highway speed then I got it to repeat at slow speed multiple times. It would lose all brakes after two or three light applications of the brakes. Very unsafe I almost rear ended some one I'm fairly strong it took both feet pushing as hard as I could to slow vehicle and whip around car to avoid if my wife or son would have been driving it very different out come than a trip to chevy

Back up camera dose not dim at night. So bright it blinding at night. Destroys night vision. Cant see anything.

My vehicle is a pickup with the z71 off road package. I use it working on farm and pasture land which requires me to drive off road in tall grass and brush at times. I noticed, and it was called to attention, that grass and brush was collecting around the rear axle, drive line and exhaust system. I got under the vehicle and found two large plastic clamps around the axle housing that have a large v shaped opening facing the front of the pickup. The clamps are catching and holding grass and brush which then builds up as the vehicle travels. I consider this to be a safety issue which number one could cause a fire, cause damage and failure of the drive line and endangers my safety by having to crawl under the vehicle to remove the brush and grass. This problem started when the vehicle was new 6/25/17 to current.

Rear facing camera can not be dimmed. When backing at night, camera display is so bright you can't use your mirrors. You can not focus on anything that may be along side of the vehicle. This could be dangerous to anyone who might be out of sight of the camera. I have read that older year vehicles have a camera display dim feature.

Transmission on my new 2016 z71 lt 4x4 jumps into low gear when slowing down. I took it to the dealership multiple times, but keep getting told it shifts fine. I took it again and had a manager drive the truck with me inside and agreed the transmission was not gettin into gear in a normal way. Toon it back to get it fixed and was told transmission is fine. I need this fixed or I will be returning he truck as a lemon title.

2017 chevrolet silverado 1500 when the vehicle is shifted into reverse (while stopped, from either park or neutral) the backup camera view appears on the display screen. The issue is when it is dark outside, the display is so bright that it blinds the driver. I am unable to see out of the windows or mirrors. There is no ability to dim the screen while the backup camera display is on the screen. The screen is so bright that is takes a few moments to regain night vision. When I then shift into neutral or drive (but before the vehicle moves) the rear view camera display is on the screen but it is dimmed. This is an ongoing issue.

When accelerating from a stop truck hesitates to the point where you could get hit or you have to push pedal hard which makes vehicle jerk or spin tires, especially when wet pavements. When putting the vehicle into reverse for the purpose of backing up, the radio screen illuminates to a blinding level of brightness when the rear camera view is displayed. This is especially noticeable at night and impairs my ability to see out of my windows. There is no adjustment within the radio settings to fix this issue, and the rotating dial to the left of the exterior lighting knob will do nothing to dim the screen when in reverse. During normal operation (not in reverse), the screen is able to dim with the rotating dial whether parked or driving. I believe this is a software issue that if not resolved, could result in detrimental impacts to driving safety, especially at night. If chevrolet/gm could implement an update that would allow a software update to put a "soft" button into the settings menu, I feel that overall visibility would be improved greatly and temporary night blindness would be a thing of the past. My vehicle is not the only type of gm vehicle affected with this issue.

When coming to a stop hearing a clunk in the drive train had same issue with 2016 silverado chevrolet replaced control module and calibrated gears on 2016 but when I told them about the same issue with the 2017 I was told this is normal so why would they waste time and money trying to repair an issue in their words is not an issue is beyond me, this needs to be recall item befroe mechanical failures resut in injuries or loss of lives.

The contact stated that the vehicle only stalled when the temperature was very hot outside. The vehicle stalled at least three times per month since being purchased in march of 2017. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer (ed buzarth chevrolet in las vegas, nevada) four times. The dealer was aware of the failure, but there was no remedy. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 8-324-272-3692. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 13,350.

Steering was dangerous. Pulled to left . Took to dealer where purchased. Looked at it. Did not solve the problem. Had truck 7 months. Less than 300 miles. Dangerous to drive. Going down road, it pulls to left.

The light for the backup camera is extremely bright and blinding at night. It blocks up your view of the camera and must be covered with a towel in order to see when backing at night. I spoke with general motors and was told that there is no fix. This is a serious safety issue with backing up at night.

I have been driving a 2017 chevrolet silverado 1500 z71 pick-up truck since february 2017. Since nearly day one, the vehicle has experienced vibration and wobble like shaking noticeable at normal highway speeds, becoming more noticeable above 60 mph. At certain instances the vehicle begins to experience a mild bouncing. The vehicle has been in to the dealership to repair the problem four times over the course of ownership (apx. Six months at the time of this submission) and approximately 10,000 driving miles and the issue still is ongoing. The dealer stated that they are unable to repair the problem. The dealership had called in a field engineer to help with the issue, twice, they as well, unable to repair the problem. The dealership has replaced numerous tires, road force balanced wheels and tires, replaced suspension bushings, steering gear box, steering bushings, unmounted the body from the chassis and unbolted the exhaust system, reassembling in a different pattern, removed caliper clips, and made other changes. The issue still exists. Following their attempt to repair the issue, the vehicle now makes a clunk noise when executing a tight turning radius and driving over a small bump (such as a driveway apron). When the shaking / vibration occurs, the vehicle feels unstable and feels as if there may be a loss of control.

At night, when shifting into reverse gear and the backup cameras is activated, the system changes the center dashboard display screen from night brightness to full daytime brightness. If looking at the screen when this happens, night vision is lost by the glare. If not looking and in a dark area, it becomes impossible to see much of anything other than the display screen. While the screen is showing what is behind the vehicle, if a turning movement is needed while backing, it is impossible to see if there is anything beside the vehicle (like children) without opening the vehicle windows. If the display brightness would simply remain unchanged when the backup camera is activated, this issue would be resolved. The dealer and chevrolet assistance both state this is how the system is designed to operate and refuse to take any action. They do state the problem "might" be resolved in a future software update.

Truck is a 6 passenger vehicle the front seat can seat 3. My 13 year old grand daughter flipped up the middle console to sit in the middle position. The plastic cup holder broke off the console and flew into the back seat. We were stopped the side of the street in front of grand sons home loading up 6 passengers when this happened. Myself, wife, grandson, his wife, 12 year old grand daughter and 2 year old great grand daughter. We had buckled up my great grand daughter in the back seat in her car seat when this console broke off and fell on the back seat. This is a crew cab vehicle and the console is made of plastic and weighs 2. 2 pounds and what would this do flying backwards in an accident.

I am requesting that dot nhtsa investigate the extreme wobble/vibration/shake on new 2017 chevrolet silverado 1500. The vehicle was purchased new and driven under 55 mph for the first 500 miles. After the first 500 miles and beginning to drive highway speeds, between 60 - 75+ miles per hour, a wobble/vibration/shake began to occur. When the wobble/vibration/shake begins the driver feels that control of the vehicle is being lost and the driver must decrease the speed, which is able to be accomplished with both releasing foot off of the accelerator or lightly breaking, in order to regain control. The vehicle has been to the dealer for front left wheel replacement due to the inability of original tire to be balanced, the vehicle has field force balancing 3 times, and the left front axle boot has been replaced. After several attempts to correct the wobble/vibration/shake, the vehicle now has ~10,000 miles, the wobble/vibration/shake continues to occur at highway speeds.

West bound highway 44 before the railroad tracks. Female deer came out of nowhere and was hidden by the a pillar, drivers side, which obscured her sudden crossing. She hit the front, left, of the truck which caused the side-curtain airbags deployment charges on both driver and passenger side, to go off. Bags failed to deploy. The ensuing force from the drivers side curtain airbag plastic cover ejecting out, forcefully rammed into me, pushing me into the center console. Airbag indicator on the dash info screen immediately popped up as did automatic activation of the hazards. Upon coming to a stop on the side of the road, both driver and passenger side-airbags began to smoke. Smell is similar to black/gun powder which I assume the deployment charge is made out of. Taken by ambulance to hospital. Filed claim with insurance. Research this evening reveals a known problem with other airbags in the truck. Nhtsa ref: nhtsa campaign number: 16v651000. I'm wondering if my issue is potentially symbiotic to this issue. Lastly, a check of any recalls on my truck via the mychevy app and nhtsa website, fails to indicate any recalls at all exist on the truck.

Bought the truck 16 nov 16 in idaho. Noticed at the end of jan/early feb '17 that paint chips/knicks were starting to appear all over the truck and in places where the only way you could see them was to the open a door (I. E. Not even exposed to the road). After making numerous inquiries to local gm dealerships, all of whom said it was sand damage, I started doing research. Turns out, I'm not the only person with this issue on their trucks. It appears the issues with paint on gm (both gmc and silverado) trucks started around mid to late model 2014 trucks and persists to this day (see attachments). Additionally, my local dealership here in reno, I have found out, has been lying to me; they told me they submitted two separate requests to gm for the truck to be repainted as they agreed with me (in-person and via phone) that something is wrong with the paint. It turns out, this is all a farce. The two requests they submitted stated, "customer has been advised to file a claim with their insurance as damage is caused due to sand damage. Customer insists dealership submit a claim to gm for warranty re-paint". Whilst I'm paraphrasing here, I was livid to learn this was 'their behind my back kind of thing'. Prior to learning about this shenanigan, I thought for a second that perhaps the dealerships could be correct, maybe it could be damage from driving. So, I took it to three separate repair facilities in the area and all of whom said the same thing, verbatim, "the clear coat is too hard, it's like glass. Factory defect". Well, that confirmed it. Lastly, I have just recently contacted the dealership from which I bought the truck (idaho). They advised me at 1352 on 23 may 17 to escalate this issue beyond gm. And that's why I'm filing this complaint folks. Do your homework before buying any new gm product.

Radio/navigation display is a 8" touch screen similar to display found on a tablet. This screen is used to display the rear camera when vehicle is placed in reverse. At night time when truck is placed in reverse the the display is so bright I can not see out of any of the side windows... To use my mirrors or see if any objects are near. At night when the vehicle is "drive" in dark areas (like highway) this display is way too bright. I called manufacturer and there is no way to adjust the brightness. In my opinion this is very dangerous as I like to have my interior lights very dim.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 30.

The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was waiting for them to schedule an appointment to inspect the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Drivers door could not be opened from inside the vehicle. Handle moved but door mechanism would not engage. Had to lower drivers window and use exterior door handle to open the door. After turning vehicle off and restarting the engine the drivers door inside door handle mechanism worked again. I'm concerned about being able to exit the vehicle quickly in an emergency or if power was disrupted to the vehicle and was unable to lower the window. Vehicle was stopped in a snow storm (blizzard) on a back country road at the time of incident

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,061.

Please provide an update on what the nhtsa is doing to ensure safety on the tamara airbag recall. The recall notice indicates risk of fatality to passengers. The recall notice has a date of may 27th, 2016. I would assume 7 months would be adequate time to resolve this defect. Could the nhtsa provide more information on what owners should expect from manufactures regarding this?
