Should i see a therapist or psychologist reddit

Indeed. A psychologist cannot prescribe medication. Only board certified doctors with a medical license can. But overall, medication has been shown to be even more effective with therapy in many situations. So many people may do a psychologist/psychiatirst combo, where they go for counseling while also being prescribed medicine. Generally people may view psychologists as less useful then psychiatrists, but that is really not the case. Whereas a psychiatrist may just be focused on medication, a psychologist can help you in other vitals areas, like counseling, CBT, etc. I first went to a psychologist for anxiety, and CBT helped alot. But eventually, I needed mediation because, as you may know, chemical imbalances can only sometimes be corrected with medication. Overall, both of these things really helped.
